Whoohooo, this sounds like a fantastic idea and I'm sure it will be much more professionally done than others who've tried similar and not even on a live feed basis, nor with as much detail

Is it going to be purely on the actual show or are you doing some warm ups talking to people before the show?

Yes, we've gone down all the proper routes and the UKBFF are supportive of this.

We're reporting on the show on both days, and we're also going to have some interviews Friday and Saturday night, as we can get them.  Maybe some before too.

I'd just like to thank James and the MT crew for giving me this opportunity.

Initially i had planned to attend my girlfriends cousin's wedding which fell on the same Saturday but chances like this do not come around this often (and thankfully she understands my passion for bodybuilding!).

This year's UKBFF finals has so much depth to the classes with regards to contention for the one pro card that is handed out every year.

This is the Olympia of the UK, every bodybuilder male or female, fitness or physique have worked hard to qualify for this years main event and no doubt everyone of them has cranked up their training and diet to win their respective classes.

MT has made strong moves to promote and raise the profiles of amateur bodybuilders, fitness/physique and also UK bodybuilding as a whole with this website, the BodyPower Expo and now live contest coverage.

6 days to go

This is great stuff.  I am hoping to go on sunday but i wil be tuned in here on saturday to read this.

Any chance of some info on the biggest contenders for the pro card this year?   Daz obviously, but I'm not sure past that.

There are a few
Daz ball is one of the favorites as is Zack Khan for the superheavies.  Both are huge guys.  also Alvin Small who won the heavys last year beating daz.  The other faves are Shaun Joseph-Tavinier whos a light heavy - he packs alot of muscle and great shape - very nice phyique.

Stuart core is another super, but he was a bit smooth as the birmingham recently, but he is an experienced guy so he may be able to sharpen up more.

Luke nichols and Barny duplessis are in the heavyweights both good names as is lee Spencer a past champion - but there are rumours due to health problems lee will not be as sharp as he used to be

or there could be a complete outsider - you never know in this game lol

Interview with Kami 'Classic' Kalsi - 13 October 2009 14:16
As well as the LIVE report, we'll be having a few short interviews with some of the competitors.

Thanks to Kami 'Classic' Kalsi - husband of well known MTer gymbabeliz - for doing the first interview:

MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Kami ‘Classic’ Kalsi

JC:  Thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you’re busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!
Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

KK: Classic class; I qualified at the Scottish in May

JC: Do you feel you’ve improved since your qualifier and in what way?

KK: Definitely improved . I’ve put on 6 pounds more muscle so I’m closer to the weight limit, and my condition is 100% better. It helps that I didn’t have 4 stone to lose the second time around! I basically stayed lean in the 12 weeks between the qualifier and the Finals.

JC: Who do you feel will be your toughest competition in your category and why?

KK: There are a few guys who I deem to be competition, in the way of condition and muscle mass. The two that grab my attention are Bobby Khan and Keith Gillespie. Bobby has similar shape, muscle and condition while Keith looks to have that hard dense muscular physique; however I’m not resting on my laurels and discounting the other guys that have qualified, as it is now anybody’s game. Plus, its all in the hands of the judges.

JC:  What will you be doing to bring your best package onto the stage?

KK: Everyone is aiming for the condition of their life, but I hope to stand out with my shape and posing aswell. My waist is under 27 inches right now so I have the X factor!

JC: What’s your competitive background in bodybuilding?

KK: First competed as a teenager in the ANB in the 1999, then did NABBA juniors, I competed several times in NABBA over the next few years with my last show 4 years ago in 2005. My best placing was winning my first show , but I was always outmuscled after that. That’s why the classic class was ideal for me, and my 2nd place at the Scottish qualifier was my most satisfying victory yet.

JC:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

KK: In it to win it! I think a top 3 placing is achievable

JC: Does it help having a partner who’s been there and  knows what you’re going through?

KK: Totally. With Liz being there and done that she knows how much of my (our) life we have to give up and focus all our commitment on getting me ready. The only downside is I have not been a very good father to my daughter Anjali, in the way of showing her much needed attention and playing with her. I cant wait to have the energy to do that now.

JC:  Thanks doing this interview for MT, Kami.  All the best for the weekend and I’ll see you there!

After seeing it at the south coast show it is quite interesting to see how many different shapes and sizes people come in at.

I've read on UK-M they're planning to do two classic classes though based upon two heights, any more info on this James?

Classic class is split into height categories at world and european level, but not so far over here (although the weight limit is still worked out according to your height)

Interview with Luke Nichols - 14 October 2009 10:49
As well as the LIVE report, we'll be having a few short interviews with some of the competitors.

Thanks to Team MuscleTalk member, Luke Nichols for this interview:

JC:  Thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you’re busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!
Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

LN: I am doing the u100kg heavies. Qualified at the Stars show last November.

JC: Do you feel you’ve improved since your qualifier and in what way?

LN: Massively! Heavier and more conditioned, worked on weaker points and brought them up.

JC: Who do you feel will be your toughest competition in your category and why?

LN: ME!! I need to bring my best package to the stage, anything else wont do in my eyes!

JC:  What will you be doing to bring your best package onto the stage?

LN: Keep my good balance, and focus on conditioning.

JC: What’s your competitive background in bodybuilding?

LN: Done over 20 shows now so have on stage experience  I have won at this level before so have got what it takes, just need to show it off.  I won the light-heavies back in 2004, and am much improved since then, both size and conditioning.

JC:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

LN: To win my class!!

JC:  Thanks doing this interview for MT, Luke.  All the best for the weekend and I’ll see you there!

Interview with Lee Williams - 14 October 2009 22:00

MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Lee Williams

JC:  Thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you’re busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!

Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

LW: I auto qualified by being british champ before although I did win the middleweight and overall South Coast in 08.

Good question about class and as yet im unsure.  While im contracted to do the IFBB worlds at lightweight I haven’t weighed myself this time around. Last year I was determined to be a middleweight and probably came in with less detail than I'm used to displaying. At the time I was a light middleweight. As my condition this time is better I suspect I'm either a very light middleweight or possibly right at the top end of the lightweights.

JC: Do you feel you’ve improved since your qualifier and in what way?

LW: This will be my first outing this year but I believe I’m showing a better package than at last years Finals.

JC: Who do you feel will be your toughest competition in your category and why?

LW: In the middles you have many who could take it, Nana, Wayne Robinson, Steve Graham, Mike Hehir. In the lightweights Brandon, Kity, but let's be honest here, any one of those who qualify are potential winners and so no one should be taken lightly.

JC:  What will you be doing to bring your best package onto the stage?

LW: Holding the mass but displaying the details people are used to seeing on me.

JC: What’s your competitive background in bodybuilding?

LW: 25 years in the sport now, damn I'm getting old! Titles include: 4th in NABBA Britain; been a pro in WNBF and Musclemania; won EFBB British lightweight and came 4th in the IFBB Europeans.

JC:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

LW: I always aim high, no one remembers 2nd place!

JC:  Thanks doing this interview for MT, Lee.  All the best for the weekend and I’ll see you there!

MuscleTalk Interview with Sarah Wilson - 15 October 2009 09:16
MuscleTalk Pre-2009 UKBFF Finals Interview with Sarah Wilson

JC:  Sarah, thanks for taking the time to do a quick interview for MuscleTalk, as I know you’re busy with your prep in the run up to the Finals this weekend!

Which category are you competing in and what show and when did you qualify for the Finals?

SW: Hi, I am competing in Body Fitness. I qualified at the Midlands Championships on the 4th of October at Alexander Theatre.

JC: Do you feel you’ve improved since your qualifier and in what way?

SW: Yes, I have definitely improved. My trainer, Tad Morris from the Emporium has changed my training and diet quite a bit since the qualifier and comparing how I looked then and now, I can see quite a big change in my physique.

JC: Who do you feel will be your toughest competition in your category and why?

SW: I do feel like all the finalists are very tough competition and of a very high standard and as it is my first time doing it I am not sure what look the judges will be going for.  As a first timer I am especially aware of the girls who have done it before; the likes of Carly Thornton, Tasha Coppett and Lesley Rothera. All I can do is bring my best package on stage.

JC:  What will you be doing to bring your best package onto the stage?

SW: I have been training non stop; I am on auto pilot: say 'cardio' and I’m on the machine before you can finish the word.  I have also been working hard on creating a routine that will wow the judges.

JC: What’s your competitive background in bodybuilding?

SW: This is my first competition: I have always been a keen follower though, just never thought that I could do it.
At the Body Power Expo after spending quite a bit of time with Nicole Pitcher-Scott, I decided to give it a go.  Hopefully I can make a name for myself in this industry.

JC:  Do you have a goal for your positioning this weekend?

SW: I am very glad that I got to the finals and to be first at my qualifiers as well was a very good boost.  At the finals I just want to be at my best and hopefully the judges will see that I have what they are looking for.

JC:  Thanks doing this interview for MT.  All the best for the weekend and I’ll see you there!

SW: Thank you very much. See you at the finals.

Sarah is in the middle:

James do you know if the body fitness class will be split into height classes any time soon?

I don't actually.  But I am attending a UKBFF meeting on Saturday night, so I can find out then

i really REALLY really (REALLY!!!) think they should follow the IFBB examples and do it...push for it !!!!  when you're 5 ft nothing its very hard to make an impression next to some long legged 6 footer!!!
Hey, i might even do bodyfitness if they do a short arse class lol

I think at the finals Liz this would be a good thing...would bring us inline with the rest of europe and the US but at the moment it just wouldnt work at the qualifiers.....too many qualifiers at the moment have only 1, 2 or 3 competitors in Bodyfitness and so height classes would mean even fewer in each class.......when the numbers are up at the qualifiers, im sure this will be the next step.
