A wierd split / adaption of the 5*5 - what do you think? - 24 October 2009 15:57
I train 5*5 push / pull / legs but find the mon/wed/fri split not enough time for recovery between training days...so i take two days off between these big lifting days,

however i would like to workout more often. Biceps and abs are my weak points. What are your opinions on this split; it is wierd because the order changes from week to week as i only train the compound 5*5 ecercise once every three days, but i thought as biceps/abs can be trained more regularly this would work? (obviously biceps would be dropped from my pull day)

Mon Legs
Tues
Wed  cardio / biceps/ abs
Thurs Push
Fri
Sat cardio / biceps/ abs
Sun Pull

Mon
Tues cardio / biceps/ abs
Wed  LEGS
Thurs
Fri cardio / biceps/ abs
Sat PUSH
Sun

Mon cardio / biceps/ abs
Tues PULL
Wed
Thurs cardio / biceps/ abs
Fri  LEGS
Sat
Sun cardio / biceps/ abs

...and so on. have i just over complicated things?

Tbh is not good, why train biceps so much more than everything else?

would stick with standard P/P/L if thats the way youre looking at

Rather than coming up with an in-efficient split why not chose a pre-existing routine from either push/pull/legs or Bill Starrs 5x5? The reason for the rest days is that you are resting & growing on those days, not you doing bicep curls/abs on those days.

Apart from the bicep work it's not wierd.  A rolling split can be very effective if you have the flexability to do it. I enjoyed doing it. A traning week dosn't have to be 7 days if your don't want it to be.
