Nutrisport Carbs + Protein Creatine 30 October 2009 12:24 (permalink)
Hi all,

Just started using Nutrisport Carbs + Protein and it says each serving contains 3000mg on Creatine Mono. I've read that you can only use if for a certain period of time before having to come off. Will this be necessary at this dose and what will happen if someone keeps using creatine for long periods of time?

Thanks

G

there are many differing opinions on cycling creatine. i personally do because i believe your body adapts to the creatine and the noticable effects on strength and performance diminish with prolonged usage. there are no proven health risks of long term creatine use and it will definately not stop your bodies own production of creatine. 3g per day is a fairly low dosage so the results will not be massively noticable anyway. i would recommend having 2 shakes per day to get the full effects from the creatine. to keep results good i personally would use it for 8 weeks then swap to a creatine free shake for 4 weeks.

Cheers Adam. Good advice. Think I'll do that.

Cool, I'll be getting 6 grams a day but no loading phase. Will that matter much?

loading phases have also been under much dispute as whether it was simply marketing to make you buy more of the stuff. as you already naturally have creatine stores in the muscle i never bothered with the loading. unfortunately there are many that believe otherwise and most studies done on creatine use loading phases. if you want to bump it up to 10g per day for the first week then this could be a good idea. im sure you can get a small 100g tub of creatine mono nice and cheap. just add a scoop of that in once a day for a week.
