training on PCT???
-
02 November 2009 20:36
Hi folks, i'm 2 weeks into a PCT off a 7 1/2 week Havoc cycle (my first one) and was wondering that during PCT am you supposed to get a little weaker as this is what i've read??? The reason I ask is that during the 1st week of PCT I had a bad virus and got no training in at all so I started back at the gym yesterday and did chest/triceps and I noticed only a slight drop in strength from my cycle (I expected this because of the illness and held back a little) then today I did back/biceps and went all out and actually upped my personal best deadlift by 5kg and managed at least to maintain my weight from when I was on cycle with the other exercises and even upped on my biceps a little... What I want to know is is this a good thing? (I presume it should be).. Muscle wise my muscles dont feel so full as on cycle but they stil look pretty defined and i'm happy with that too... any help would be appreciated

Don't EXPECT to get weaker as that'll just create a self-fulfilling prophecy...however...it's highly likely to happen due to less anabolic hormones circulating in your blood stream. I'd continue to train hard, train heavy, and try to maintain all the gains you've made. Keep your diet and training strict and you should be able to keep most, if not all of what you gained imo.

Good advice by Thaighfighter there. I completely agree with him. If you can increase on your numbers during PCT, that is GREAT! and just go all out as you would on cycle. Try to block out the negative thoughts of getting weaker during PCT, as this will definately play on your mind. I know it is easier said than done though!
Current big lifts: Bench Press - 120kg 4 reps Deadlift - 240kg 3 reps Squat (ass to grass) - 145kg 5 reps Leg Press - 500kg 20 reps Body weight: 16 stone 4lbs

I'd suggest reducing volume during pct period and keeping heavy, when i did hdrol i was working in the 10-12 rep range, then dropped to heavy 6rep range for pct, i didnt lose a single lb i gained. The only weakness i experienced was on squats, a 10kg strength drop in less than a month. Plus good fats are essential both on cycle and off in my opinion. I was hammering epa and flax caps.

I aint thinking negative guys, far from it but from what i've read on different forums everyone seems to think that its the norm to drop strength and size on PCT.... I'm in fact finding the opposite of it as even though i've taken a week off training due to illness I found todays back/biceps exercises a lot easier than I thought they would.... I feel full of energy at the moment and am hoping this continues through the other week of my PCT Also Vasquez I planned to reduce the volume of my deadlifts today but I felt so good after my first couple of sets I thought what the hell... My original plan was to make sure I try to keep the weight and intensity in my compound moves at least but i'm one of those who cant slack off if I know i've more in the tank... Anyway I will see how training goes again the rest of the week

plenty of carbs and fat in your diet alongside plenty of rest and reduced volume in the gym; should see you recover nicely

Reduce volume and increase weight is my PCT training prescription. Quite a few guys on UK-muscle have adopted this protocol with much improved results. Forget the old school bodybuilding b.s about post cycle training and you will get much better results.

Just a quick update on this topic.... I have carried on training as hard as is physically possible but this week I have noticed a huge drop in strength in most of my exercises.... 15kg on my deadlift today and 10kg on my bench yesterday etc.... I have tried to compensate for this by being really strict on the tempo of my lifts... It seems to be working as the DOMS this morning in my chest was really bad so i'm still working the muscles...I have yet to really notice a drop in size but I do think I look a little leaner in the last week or so.... Any advice on this and any way I can halt the loss of strength??????? I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing as i've never got weaker since I started training ever and it dont feel normal
