Surprised me but Haye is 8/11 favourite on Betfair against Valuev at 7/5. Draw 54/1

Valuev seems a good price to me. 7st heavier and a big reach and height advantage
Pain is just weakness leaving the body

If it goes the distance, then Haye by UD. Hope Haye does not get reckless and caught with a big uppercut etc..

Cant really see Haye stopping him, Valuev's head is so high up its difficult to get a clean powerful punch on it.

If haye keeps the fight up close and personal, and works well inside I'm sure Valuev will have problems with such long arms, however that weight leaning on him will be hard. Will be an interesting fight. Just hope haye's jaw can take it as he posseses a powerful punch. Can't see it going the distance.

Valuev doesnt have KO power, doesnt throw the uppercut and doesnt lean on his opponents to wear them down.

Outboxed by Holyfield and hurt by John Ruiz ffs.

Easy route to a title for Haye.

Meant it as haye having powerful punch but does read the other way round though!

Neither man has concussive one hit power IMO.

If Haye had serious power then his opponents would not be up and down like a dogs proverbial every time he lands cleanly.

He hit Carl Thompson with everything except the ringpost and he did not phase the old boy.

Thompson has a very good chin but has seen the canvas on occassion and Haye could not put him there.

My view on this fight....Haye to look good and fast, landing very well and staying out the way well.

Haye to be well up on points when he starts to gas, gets sloppy and gets tagged. His chin is not great IMO. Off the floor to win against Mock very early in his career, a stopage by the old boy Thompson and down against Mormeck. "Slip" against Barrett.

I hope Haye can do it but he will have to work hard, stay sharp and work fast, while
having this big lump leaning on him. All this leads to fatigue and i hope Haye has trained for a 12 rounder.

I think the sheer size and weight advantage will be too much for Haye

I think Haye is taking this fight lightly but saying that IMO over the last year hes gone from quite an arrogant man to simply being a knob with a gob. Quite liked the guy a while back but hope he gets hammered by anyone these days.

I share Kingleans views on the fight.

I think Haye is the best thing to happen to the heavyweight division for a few years. He has a mouth but most of that is IMO for cash.
He has loads talking about this fight now, people who without Haye's mouth normally wouldn't have even known the fight was happening.

I really hope he wins, I'm sure he will.....it'll certainly liven up the boring ****e that is the heavy weight division

I'm thinking Haye will win convincingly enough they'll have to give it to him

Maybe I'm giving the Germans too much credit, we know what they're like with their own fighters, but with foreigners based in Germany maybe not so much

Value is now odds on favourite on most betting sites, rather than Haye who was up until a few hours ago?! lots of money being placed on valuev clearly.

I thought he did what he needed to do, made Valuev look inneffective and kept out of trouble. Neither landed many shots, but the ones that Haye landed were more productive.

Well done to Haye.

Serves the Klitchkos right for wanting him to sign that crazy contract giving them control over his career.

Now he can face them as a champion in his own right, although I don't think he could beat either of them tbh.

He is just lucky he is boxing now and not more than 5 years ago. Neither would last a few rounds against previous champions. Not his fault I suppose but heavyweight boxing is so bad now days. Congratulations though.

More like 20 years ago - been a long time since there were a decent crop of heavyweights IMO

Great display by Haye. Too fast and too good. Had he not bust his hand in the 2nd, Valuev would have been Ko'd

Well done Haye!

Dodgy fight to score IMO, but i have always been of the opinion knuckle part of the glove on the target area therefore there was only one winner.

The pace was so pedestrian due to Hayes tactics but it worked well for him and at that pace there was no chance of him gassing.

On a side note did anyone else hear the commentary team say Haye does not do any endurance running?

I would be interested in hearing anyones views on that.

Re:Hayve vs Valuev - 08 November 2009 12:44
Watched the fight on Sky Box Office last night. I did not think Haye done enough really to defeat Valuev, and thought he was very lucky to get the decision. I would of thought a draw at best for Haye and personally I had Valuev about 2-3 rounds ahead. I think Don King thinks Haye is much more marketable for future fights against the klitschko's in the US, and so long as Haye was not KO'd, the decision was always going to be a Haye victory. I like Haye as a boxer and think he is great for the Heavyweight division, with his normally explosive style, but felt he did not do enough 2 or 3 punch combo's in each round to beat Valuev. In some rounds he just tried the one bodyshot on Valuev and missed. I felt Valuev showed the more aggression, and landed more.

It was to be expected, Haye can make them wait now.

Earn a bit of coin with a voulantary (do they still allow those?) or beat Ruiz in a mandatory, then think big scalps.

totally confused how anyone could think it was even close.  valuev landed a few clean jabs the rest he didnt even get close!!

i think haye should have landed a few more shots he could clearly hit the guy at pretty much will!  didnt seems to have problems getting to his chin!!  also didnt attack his body enough!!   but he did enough to nick each rd!!  with valuev taking one or two at tops imo!!

Most will have been watching sky box office and be influenced by the negative commentary and their ridiculous scoring.

Yep. Sky have always been anti-Haye for some reason.

Criticise him for banging instead of boxing then criticise him for boxing instead of banging.
