A question...about dropping fat and building muscle - 06 November 2009 17:54
I've been cutting for 4 weeks and I just had a weigh in and dropped about 7 lbs.  In those same 4 weeks my deadlifts, front squat, bench have all increased.

Does that mean I've dropped fat and gained muscle?

I should point out that I had 6 weeks out from lifting due to getting married so I'm not lifting now what I was lifting before I stopped, eg. pre-wedding my best deadlift was 145kg, 4 weeks ago I was at 115kg, now I'm at 125kg.

I would have thought that you have dropped fat and started to get back your strength :)
Those lifts are part strength, part technique - and having had a break you will be getting back those two elements - so they should increase with the practice.

And you may very well have gained back some of the muscle you lost in your break!

And 7lbs will have been large part water :)

Yep, agree with Les there in this case, although it is possible to lose fat and gain muscle.

I have found the same with my legs whilst cutting. strength was proly 60% of what it used to be but has rapidly increased despite being on only 16 - 1700 cals. I expected this to happen, No way would this happen otherwise without help. i've lost 3 + inches and 15 lbs in 6 weeks alot of enery and water i gues.

keep it goin
look good naked :D
