This is the routine I am doing at the moment.
Day 1
DB flat bench
DB overhead press (standing)
Dips
Day 2
Deadlifts
BB rows
chins
all 5x5.
Most of the time I manage both those sessions in a week and am enjoying it. However there are a few issues with it.
1. No legs
2. Not sure that I get on well doing overhead and bench press on the same day.
The obvious solution to problem 1 would be to add a leg day, however I know that I would struggle to get to the gym 3 times a week, and if I had to miss a workout one week, you know which one would get the chop...
The thought that I had to crack both problems at one was to add squats and mix the other exercises up a bit. Something like:
Day 1
Deads
Overhead press
chins (might do pull ups instead)
Day 2
Squats
db bench
bb rows
I've not fully decided on the order of the 2nd and 3rd exercises each day.
Any thoughts?
It seems good on paper, in fact it is very similar to the second routine by frankie NY here:
http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/Need-a-routine-Read-this-m1326.aspx However, I find that a decent session of squats or deads would take long enough that I would only have time for 2 more exercises each day.
(My current routine is the same as his first on minius the leg day.)
