SUPPLEMENTS NEEDED TO COMPENSATE DIET ISSUES!! CAN ANYONE HELP?
-
07 November 2009 10:39
hi guys i have just started a new job offshore nigeria where the quality of food is horrendous, the only decent sort of protein i can get is tins of tuna down here! the rest of the food is complete crap mostly. The chef knows only one way of cooking and thats in the form of a deep fat fryer! So i am looking to bring some supplements out on my next stint. can anyone recommend any good protein powders, I have never really bothered to use them in the uk, mainly relied on protein etc from food. Im not looking for meal replacement just something to assist with intake protein/carbs etc I am aiming to keep body fat low but maintain muscle, I train 6 days a week - 5 days cardio and 6 days of weights currently at 6'1 95kgs. I have seen some stuff called cyclone by maximuscle is this any good? also should i take any other supps ie, vitamins, iron all that good stuff. ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKS

why wouldnt you be looking for meal replacements? not only will they boost your protein/carb intake, they will also give you efa's, some have vitamins/minerals that you may be lacking in a poor diet. depending on how long you are out there for, i would take a few boxes of mrp, a big bag of unflavoured whey, a few kilos of fine oats. there has to be a grill or an oven somewhere, surely? and the shops, are you saying that they dont actually sell chicken, beef, eggs etc? because that would suck. are you training out there?

Thanks, beef jerky is already on the shopping list. I am out here for a month at a time, and based offshore on a ship with no access to shops obviously. There is a grill in the Kitchen but the chef is a co*K and wont let me use it! plus when the ship has a food resupply it is calcualted so that each person receives a certain amount of food per week. i.e 5 eggs per person etc 2 chicken breasts etc. that in combination with the chef being a co*K means i get what i am given.... ar*e! When you say meal repalcements. what is the best to get. AL noted on the oats, unflavoured whey etc thanks, much appreciated. My training regime is pretty good so there is no problems there, i have aquired some weights and other bits of equipment to get me by Thanks

take a look at www.myprotein.co.uk their mrp is really good quality, over 40 grams protein per serving, a nice mix of low gi carbs, efa's, and vits/minerals. well priced, too. their bulk unflavoured whey and oats are also very reasonable and good quality.
