regaining lost mass? - 12 November 2009 11:56
not sure if this is the correct section for this,
but I injured a tendon my fore arm a while back and have been out of the gym for the last 6 -7 months, in that time i've lost over a stone in weight. (my diet got worse and worse)

So really I was wondering if muscle memory actually exists firstly, and if the way the mass was lost (lack of training/lacking in diet/both) makes a difference in the speed you gain it back?

Also in terms of routines, i'm going to be going from a 4 day split to a 3day one, but for maximising results should i stick to my old routine, which was around the 5-6 rep range or try to increase volume?

I know diet will play a key part in this too, but would it be dreaming to hope for 1-2 lbs a week? with out any AAS?

and finally are there any other supps people would recommend to take when getting back from an injury? in terms of recovery, or just protecting the injured part? I think cissus is meant to be good for injuries?

My plan right now is nothing but whey for the first month or so then possibly use cee too.

Thanks for any help.

Without sounding silly, you won't know until you try, although I do believe 'muscle memory' does seem to exist in one for or another ,whether psychological or physical.

1-2lbs a week mass gain would be possible, whether or not it would be muscle is up to your diet.

yep, nothing silly about that .. I was just wondering from other peoples experience? though I guess everybody is different.

Only got cleared for gym work recently.. and then got ill. So, i'm starting this friday!

as for the gain, my main reason about asking that was I remember a while back people would say as a nat, you can only put on a a max of 1 lb of muscle mass a week and the rest would be fat? So i was wondering if this would be different for some one coming back to the gym or not?

Doubt it would be that different, i think 1lb of decent muscle a week would be quite a large amount to gain naturally.

What is your routine/diet like?
