RIP Sophie
-
13 November 2009 15:04
Our cat Sophie was run over and killed this morning. We both had a day off as Jess had an interview, and we were then going to head over to wales this morning for a weekend away. Our neighbour found her in the road, couldn't of been more than a few minutes after it had happened. She had only left the house 20 minutes earlier whilst I was in the bath. Miserable piece of **** who did it didn't even have the guts to check the body and give us a call. Pathetic. Suffice to say we are pretty devastated. We've buried her in her favourite bed next to our other cat Elliott over at Jess' mum's house, so at least she's near her. Probably still going to head over to wales later to get out of the house for the weekend. A silver lining for the day is that Jess got the job and they matched her current salary which is more than she should really get for the role. It's a lot closer to where I work so should work well. I don't think we're going to get another cat until we've got a house in the middle of firgging no-where, hurts too much when they're taken away.

Sorry to hear bud. It shows how much our pets mean to us, I've been with my dogs when both of them have been put down and has made me a sobbing mess.

Already got a dog Cons - this was to be their first trip together to my folks home back in wales. She always loved it there, and I'm sure he's gonna have a ball.

I am so sorry to hear that Tony, very upsetting for you both. Things like this are the reason I have never really had a pet or am unlikely to have one. I just get too upset. RIP Sophie x

OMG this is freaky my mum just phoned me and told me that my childhood cat has died It was a great Cat we got it when i was about 4 which makes it 19, its had a good life and was a lovely cat. Mum said it was fighting and that it kept trying to stand up like a new born lamb but got weak and then just passed out. Im quite shocked as its always been there since i was little, the other cat was watching in despair. RIP Tom xx

Aww I'm so sorry guys. Dreading the day Pebbles has to go .. RIP Sophie & Tom Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

RedHotF RIP Tom also Hopefully Sophie and Tom are now gambolling about in a meadow together chasing mice, in kitty heaven. Lol women are so camp that made me smile, and Welshy that really was a lovely poem. To be fair its not as bad for me as i rarely seen Tom as he lived at my mums who i don't see that often these days, but he really was a great cat and when i was younger i was really close to him, he was a good cat and to live to 19 he did really well. He had lost most of his teeth in the later days and if i play fighted with him he would 'gum' me lol, he had trouble eating crunchies with his lack of teeth but he had a method hed get some in his mouth and kinda suck them for a minute and try to swallow them lol.

Sorry to hear that mate. We lost our cat CC 5-6 weeks ago on the road; we never did get to get her body. It took me a few days to realise, and it was only a few kind neighbours responding to 'Lost Cat' flyers for us to conclude. Apparently, she was left on the road for the council. Also the very day previous it appears another cat was run over just a few metres away. Tt was left in the middle of the road and people just drove around it. When my next door neighbour got out of his car to try to move the cat to the side, he got tooted and no one stopped to let him - bastards. The council were also very uncooperative.

Sorry for your losses, Tony and BlueLagoon. I lost my cat Sophie over 9 years ago and still miss her - not on the road, though. Losing a pet is the worst feeling as there's something unique and unspoilt about the relationship. Hopefully you'll be reunited with her someday - Welshy's poem was beautiful and my ideal. God knows I would be more keen to see the cats I've lost when (if) I get to Heaven than any of the humans!

Sorry to hear about that. As a driver who should you call if you hit a dog or a cat? I was driving in the middle of nowhere the other night and there was a tail back as someone had hit a dog. I wondered if it was me who would I call/contact. Also, if it's in the middle of nowhere with no houses around would it then be the drivers responsibility to get it to a vet/pay for bills?

Sorry to hear that James - was that the one that disappeared for a few weeks previously? I hate it when people just ignore animals like that. Squirrels, rabbits, etc, fair does, but pets? Orange - I'm over in Oakwood, near roundhay park Thanks to others. Weekend away has helped clear head a lot, just now there is a house full of reminders.

If you hit a dog I think you're legally obliged to try and sort the situation - call owner or take to nearest vet. Not so for cats. I may be wrong though, just sounds familiar. As for bills I guess you could be liable? Again, sod knows. As for who to call - Sophie had 1 id tag on her with my number on it, and 1 id holder with my number in it. She was also chipped with my number held by the chip operators. Basically if they had bothered to stop they could of contacted me quite easily.
