Mayweahter-I would beat Pacquiao easy!!! - 16 November 2009 18:44
Just seen Mayweather on sky sports news and he actually feels Pacquiao is not up for fighting him and that he would beat him easy, probably easier than the Marquez fight he said.

I would back Floyd still but he will certainly have his work cut out based on the latest Pacquiao performance.

Opinions?

Before the weekend i would have said a Mayweather win for sure. After the Cotto destruction, im at most 50-50 and i have to say that id quite fancy a Pacman win.
If/when this fight comes off, ill be having a few cheeky bets on Mayweather getting KO'd.

The first couple of rounds are always worth a punt imo!
I learned my lesson when Hatton fought him! 33-1 for Pac to KO Hatton in rounds 1 and 2 and i didnt take it.
If he can rock Cotto in 3 then who knows....

Im not taking anything away from Mayweather here, i just feel Pacman would need to KO him to win as i doubt he could out box him for points...

Wrong section btw...

I too would say Mayweather points...I was swaying the other way after the Cotto fight but I'm sticking with Floyd...too defensively excellant.

I think Floyd has said he wants most the purse....could be a ploy to make sure the fight never happens

Iirc, they are both wanting the highest payout so who knows....

This fight has to happen now though if either of these ever want to be known as the best lb for lb in the world.

Floyd doesn't want this fight.

Pacman wins this inside the distance IMO. Either KO or late stoppage.

Of course Floyd wants the fight, his just come on sky sports saying he does, and would win comfortably.

Any money issues will easily be sorted.

Really? I wouldnt argue as thats your choice but i wouldnt say that bro!

Like i said, imo Pacquiao would probably have to ko him to win and im unsure if this would happen. I wouldnt rule it out though. I wouldnt imagine Mayweather to even drop pacman once and that is the difference. Mayweather will only win this by points and it wont be comfortable imo....

tbf, Floyd is hardly going to come on and say he doesn't want the fight.

Coming on saying he's well up for it etc etc is to be expected...I wouldn't be surprised to see him price himself out of it though

He didn't have to come on saying anything at all,the fact he has come on skysports saying this, says to me that his ready for it should it arise.

Which I think it now has to.

Sorry Mak, read it wrong

And Neb, if Cotto couldnt wobble him then i doubt Mayweather would either. Theoretically, it could be a boring fight.... lol

It would be a fascinating match up, Mayweather the artist against Pacman the whirlwind.

I just hope it happens.

Agree with this 100%. Mayweather wont get in the ring with Pacman cos he knows he'll get battered

I dont think Pacquiao got out of third gear against Cotto and could have ended the fight alot sooner.  He laughed when Cotto caught him with a big left and carried on.  I honestly thought with Cotto's left he would have shook him in his boots at least once, but it never happened.  This performance makes me think he could go the distance and beat Mayweather.

It would be a great fght but I think MAyweather would do it - the man doesn't get hit.

Love to see this one...

Cotto was having some success with the jab. It all went tits up when he lost his cool. May will not do that.

May can box off the back foot better than anyone on the planet.

Pac will need to close the distance down which means moving forwards.

I cant see Pac doing it IMO.

If the money is the stumbling block for this fight they should accept 40% each with the remaining 20% going to the winner.

But thats way too much common sense for the promoting team to implement.

The main problem with this fight is 1) bob arum is pacmans promoter and mayweather said hed never do business with him and 2)mayweather always wants something like a 70-30 split of the ppv buys and gates which is rediculous! If this fight were to go ahead, im under no illusions that pacman is the star and cash cow, yet mayweathers thinks people will buy the fight to see him lol joka. Anyway if the fight were to happen, its hard to bet against floyd, hes just too slick, smart and wont get into a war with pacman. Id love to see manny do it, but my heart and boxing knowledge is pullin me to mayweather on points or even late TKO.

I'd take Mayweather to win this. He is so good at adapting to whatever opponents style and is very hard to land the power punches on.

Would LOVE to see them fight, would be a modern classic. Can't see it though.

Pacquaio could well find himself eating Mayweathers jab for 12 rounds.

it wont be easy but i think Floyd would beat Manny

Floyd is an amazing technical and defensive fighter, counters extremely well

Cotto got pasted because he tried becoming too aggressive and moved away from his plan allowing Manny to just pick him off - Floyd will not be baited to do the same

the most interesting aspect of the fight for me would be Freddy Roach and the plan he comes up with for Floyd, Roach is a master

TBF fair to Floyd is still the unbeaten man so probably deserves more of the money.

He did say when I beat Pacquiao no one will be surprised because he has lost 3 times before,he then said if I knock him out no one will be surprised because he has been knocked out twice before.

He's last lost was 2005 and now he does seem somewhat unbeatable, but if anyone is to beat him it can only be Mayweather right now.

Possibly but I think it would be another routine win for Pac.

Cotto defeated Mosley,so technically not the fight he really needs.

I can only see one fight for Pac now and it has to be Mayweather imo.

this fight really needs to happen, theyre the 2 fighters at the top of the welter division(s).. there's no one else for them to really fight to prove anything other than each other..
i cant believe that the main stumbling block with this happening would be cash.. its ridiculous! both are extremely wealthy fighters and demand huge payouts from their fights!! would be a shame to see this not happen simply cos one wanted more cash than the other!!
its the fight that everyone wants, and would allow the victor to bow out as undisputed LB for LB best boxer on the planet!!

Knowing Floyd this would be one of the most disappointing boring fights in years.
Ending in an Unanimous decision in his fav.

As much as i want them to get it on, Floyds style means this would be far from exciting
