Protein Flapjacks
-
17 November 2009 21:39
Evening mes amis! I've never tried protein flapjacks but I'm after something calorific/highest carb count to accompany my refeeds. I would be grateful if someone could advise which ones are worth getting in terms of cost/taste/nutritional info. So far CNP seems to be the one to go for... Best, Emz

Appreciate your input mes amis! I looked at MP thinking a bulk supplier would be cheaper and surprisingly, when u factor in postage, it's not good value, it's comparable as say cnp when bought from the likes of bbw whic has free shipping! Plus, I've not seen any other to beat the carb content of cnp (unless u wanted a straight forward flapjack, which tends to be high sugar/fatalso!!). I had a feeling cnpwould win...

If its for refeeds i wouldnt use the CNP ones if they are to be a prime part of your carbup. High amounts of gelatine may give you a pretty nasty guts ache.

Have tried both the CNP and MP ones and both taste pretty good, take a bit of time ot get used to as theyre quite compact and can be hard to swallow to start but you get used to it and after a while they taste pretty damn good (welll thats my experience anyway)

Not Gelatine, I've vowed to cut out all gelatine!! Sweet p's are the main part of the refeed, typically I'll use the whole kilo bag which is only 200g carbs, a flapjack and a treat or two would then take me to 250-300g's so it's more of an accompaniment!! Would I be beter off with a regular bog standard flapjack then, I find these tend to be a lot higher in fat and/or sugar?

I don't see the problem with gelatine personally - never had any issues with it, and it's been linked to improved joint health. Obviously there are more bioavailable sources of protein, but eating gelatine has a few benefits in itself.

For me the CNP rate as 1 cherry almond 2 choc orange 3 choc And that's with a box of each in the cupboard Taste is soooo subjective I like the MP ones too, especially the blackberry, they're larger than CNP's, but I suspect made by the same manufacturer.

Never gave it any thought but now I know I've gone totally off it, even my beloved Haribos have had the push lol

For Value CNP Flaps 1) almond 2) choc orange 3) choc For qual imo MP Flaps 1) Raspberry All other flavours are horrid! Bulk buy MP flaps, 11 boxes for £175, takes ages to get through them all and its worth the money imo... ...makes your less tempted to stray if you can conveniently get your hands on one of these. I take 2-3 to work with me and snack on them. takes me about 3-4 months to get through them all
