cardio straight after weights?
-
20 November 2009 08:48
Im currrently doing 40-45mins cardio @ 7.15am walking on treadmil 3.5mph, black coffee before hand i do weights at 11am, im doing morning cardio 5 mornings a week (mon-fri) and train weights 5 times a week mon-fri. do you think it will be more beneficial to add cardio after weights aswell too increase my chances of loosing body fat quicker, if so would you still have your pwo shake after weights and then do cardio or have PWO after you finish cardio.. many thanks muzafnz

How is your rate of fat loss at the moment? If you're going in the right direction why change? If not then think about diet as well as this. If you feel you need a change I would think about messing around with it a bit more i.e. doing a couple of sessions of shorter harder cardio straight after training (with a little protein shake inside you) and see how that works out for example more demanding cardio for 20 mins after weights. You can then add back in a few sessions of fasted cardio if you wish and see how this all works together. This way you have more options and also are hitting the energy systems work in different ways. As I say though, how are your really going now and what can you do with diet?

thanks for your post drew, i think i will take your advice, and mess around with it a little, fat loss rate is ok not great, i need to lose around another 7lbs of fat, might be getting to that sticking point where the body wont let the fat go around the hips!. havent lost much over the last 4 weeks. maybe 1 lb. Diet is pretty good as the master James C, looks after that side.

4 weeks isn't that long, give it longer. You may want to think about interval cardio at some point if the fat is being difficult.

Uj I seem to be following you around... Theory is all very well but results speak. Cardio after weight training is very very effective. You can talk about fibre types or gene's, I could come out with autonomic nervous system recovery but it is all just meaningless. Results speak louder that theory.

I did my cardio after weights. I did it this way as i didnt want to train twice a day. I had great results off it and would recomend it to any one. I did weights then up to an hour of cardio then protein shake straight after. I didnt loose any muscle and plenty of fat. I found it much easier than getting up early before breakfast. And then going weight training later in the day.
