Scream, "Y'ARGHH!" every time you lift in this. Bound to impress all the inner pirates.

"Lightweight me hearties!"

International talk like a pirate day is on the 19th of September.  I think we should all go to our respective gyms with a hat like the above to work out!

You mean these silly things -

Not really a chav thing, more emo i would say.
Hats seem to be well in at the moment, I felt out of place in a club last week for not having a farmers hat on!

EMO? your poor knowledge of modern youth subcultures makes you sound about 45 :D

Lol, if I found myself dressing like some of the 'kids' round my way I would actually have to kick my own a$$.

There was a lad in front of me at a cash machine at tescos last weekend, his skinny jeans where half way down his legs so basically his arse was hanging out (with pants on show) .... I said "mate, your arse it out" ...... he said "its the style bruv" ..... I just burst out laughing (whilst my misses was rolling her eyes after Ive embarrassed her apparently).

Guess it comes down to peopel who go to the gym to train and those who go as a status thing.

ps. Plimpsoles wtf!!!!

yeah, i wear light trainers and a hat to the gym therefore i go to the gym as a status thing and not to train.

if only i could be a 'real' trainer like you

idiot :/

What was worse was that they were white pants ....... could be a risky business (has to make sure there are no skids on show !

Firstly heard 'kids' calling themselves EMO, only found out a few weeks ago it means emotional - WTF!!!!!!

Second, back to the thread of silly dress in the gym.  The gym i joined a couple of months ago is sound, few scallys but overall pretty friendly. Lots of serious trainers there and lots of guys who arent that big etc so good mix.  People dont give a toss what you wear there, and i like that as dont feel i have to dress up a bit and just get on with it - trained at a bannatynes for a while and that was the exact opposite>.  L

Lots of lads train there in jeans, which i personally find a bit wierd as just for comfort and gettin sweaty and stuff really, but loads do so up to them.  However today some lad was there training in jeans brogues and a polo top, belt and all tucked in. Actually looked like quite a big lad , about 50 id say, and clearly trained.  Still, cant get my head round training dressed like that............

I've trained in jeans. I mean if you just doing a bit of upper body stuff never seemed much of a problem.

EMO = emotional hardcore

The term is used inappropriatly 99% of the time nowdays

Agreed. It's a music genre (well, subgenre specifically). It has little if anything to do with the trendy, depresso-chic connotations the word has taken on in recent years.

Same way that people use the word 'goth' to describe pretty much anybody that listens to heavy music and dresses in dark clothes.

Not that uncommon seeing lads train in jeans i dont think, trained in few gyms in other places the years.  Some gyms even have signs up saying 'no workboots'.  But no not for me

Emo means what it means guys, the word has evolved from its original use in the 80s. It's slang after all, not the Queen's English!

As for those floppy sock hats, I recall they were popular among students who tried to be hippyish in the mid 90s. I don't see as many people in them these days as I did back then TBH

I wear hats myself if I have shaved my head and it's cold. I believe the technical term for what I wear is a beanie or a tuque. It is a covering for the head made of wool or synthetic material. It probably means I'm gay
