I'm going to get Mick King to have a pop at this, after sundays efforts of 180 x 10 I think he could spank 100 for a fair few, I have seen him do 25 with 140. Be interesting to see - especially as he is a 59 year old bloke putting all these young posers to shame.

Arniemonkey everyone is different, some people have huge single lifts and don't far so well with higher reps at lighter weights. A good friend Gary Neighbour (raw 250kg bench) could do 23 reps with 180kg lol. Gary wasn't fat either.

Mike King hit 30 reps on Sunday . . . . . . . . . at 60 years old you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

well the posts that say exactly what i said really! i presumed those 1 rep max benchers were powerlifters and then only doing 10 reps with 2 plates seem lack of fitness thats all

We had this exact competition at my gym about two months ago. I came in 3rd with 22 reps (raw and clean/natural/whatever the heck its called), which I am particularly proud of since I had not trained with anything past 8 reps for years.

Very pleased, especially since dieting to get a bit leaner, got 22 reps last night at a new bodyweight of 101.8kg (previously 106kg).

41 reps with 100kg's... awesome stuff!!! My best when I last had a spotter (3-4 months ago) was 6 reps! :D I'll hopefully put up double figures when I next try though... and hopefully, when I next try, I'll be heavier than the weight too! ;)

To be successful its not the few hours you do in the gym. Its the hours out of the gym where the differences are made. BENCH BARBIE BABY!

i think it was ages ago when i said i dont understand how a guy can do 5 reps with 5 or 6 plates then only manages 15 or 20 with 2 ...or something like that it was a while back when i upset some people with that..i suggested that they must be way out of shape

differing muscle endurance I guess. I can do 22 reps but my 1 rep max is only 155. My mates 1RM is 185 and he can only just beat my 22 reps. He is lean and fit aerobically too, more so than me.

For some one with a good 1rm versus some one who can do 20 rep squats with a massive weight.
