Shoulder press

5, 5 @ 47.5kg, 5 @ 50kg, 5 @ 52.5kg, 5 @ 52.5kg

Peck deck

5, 5, 5, 5, 5 @ 87.5kg

Close grip bench

5 @ 52kg, 5, 5, 5, 4 @ 55kg

I'm not going to do any speed sqauts as they sound like plyometric style exercises, and I can't quite squat 1.5x my bodyweight yet so going to leave them out at the mo until I can. But the other exercises sound easy enough to do, dumbell lunges are do-able in my gym I think, hope there's enough weight around! Cheers for the advice guys

Don't start with heavy weight on lunges as poor form can easily lead to injury. Concentrate on form & working the muscles. They hurt bad especially after squatting. Trust me

Trying out a 5x5 style routine myself at the moment,different format but good all the same.
I'll be looking in on this journal now and then as you and i are about the same strenghtwise and you're a fellow scot.

Good legs day today with Wushu off these boards

Squats

5, 5, 5, 5 @ 82.5kg, 5 @ 85kg

Lunges

5 @ 10kg dumbells in each arm, 5, 5, 5, 5 @ 12kg dumbells

Weighted crunches

13, 13 @ 20kg plates, 10 @ 20kg plates

Calf raises

20, 17, 20 @ 60kg

Pretty good, really felt it in my thighs and hams after the squats, think I nailed the technique as well thanks to the vids on ExRx so I'm pretty happy to keep doing them and maybe try upping the weight a bit next time

My thighs are teh sore

Think im gunna lower the weight on calves tho. Done 10kg more yesterday but felt it more last week... calves are tricky buggers...

Tis a bit late to add my push day, but I need to stick it in, totally forgot until now!

Close grip bench

Shoulder press isn't as good as last week, probably because I decided to go heavy and hard on the close grip bench. I've been quite inactive so far, just doing 2 hours of basketball training on Thursdays so I now plan to go swimming or cardio for an hour on Tuesday's and Fridays as I feel I need it. It's probably not a physical thing, may even hamper my bulk but psychologically I need it to keep me active and out of the damn house!

DJ, me ans my brother need 20kg plates on our chests, but i find it scratches my belly and neck to bits, how do you hold it?

The plates at my gym are coated in plastic so it doesn't hurt that much. Erm, I'd probably say put a towel or facecloth on your chest before putting the plates on to add an extra layer between your t-shirt and the plate, see if it helps

Forgot to add in my last post that I won't be adding anything to this journal for around a week because I'm volunteering for a festival up here for the next week and a half. It involves late nights, lots of heavy lifting (putting up a 5500 capacity tent and lugging sound and lighting gear around) and probably a fair amount of drinking! I start on Monday at 8am and don't finish for, well however long it takes!! haha Going to be goooood fun!!

Just to stop my journal being wiped off the forum thought I'd post and let you know how the festival is going so far...it's great! I've totally thrown the diet out the window but that was to be expected, I've had 4 hours sleep last night after a heavy session and all the lifting and shifting is doing wonders for my forearms and back!! I've also got a nice sunkissed look as it's been amazing weather for the past 3 days and I've been working outside! Tonight is the last night so its party party party, with free alkiehol, so, I gotta go out to the tent now to get drinking, will post when I'm getting back into the gym!!

Push day

I'm going to look at changing the push/pull part of my workout to something else as I feel it's not really working at the gym at home. Going to browse the routines part of the forum to come up with something! Legs day will remain the same though.

Close grip bench

Well pleased with this, but my next exercise suffered because of it!

Did some cardio today, attempted to make it of the HIIT type to improve my speed and endurance for basketball

Rowing machine

Setting 6 warm up for 3mins
1min30 intense setting 10
1min rest
1min30 intense
1min rest
1min30 intense
1min rest
1min30 intense
finish

Then did some running but didn't find it that comfortable, will need to research better ways to utilise it!

So went back to the rowing machine and did

1min30 intense setting 10
1min rest
1min30 intense
1min rest
1min30 intense
finish

I'm experimenting with what works best for me as I've only just started including cardio into my weekly routine besides 2 hours of basketball training on Thursdays, which is why it may seem a bit disorganised. I'm looking for advice from anyone that is willing to help! Thanks

Pull day, although it should probably be called bi's/shoulders!

Supine curl

Really enjoyed doing this exercise, think I'll replace the cable curls with rope attatchement, with these

Smith rows

5, 5 @ 92kg, 5 @ 95kg, 5 @ 97kg, 4 @ 100kg

I'm really chuffed with this, I've finally broken to 100kg barrier with one of my exercises!! Even though it's on the smith...still, I think it's good progress!
