Background
quote:

Hi all! been meaning to start a log on here since i joined. Heres the strory, i am a 17 year old ( soon to be 18 ) have always been really into sport mainly rowing, running and cycling. Throught the years i have done alot of sport specific training which has sometimes involved weights. In the last 2 months i have really got into my weights and been experimenting with different routines etc...

Anyhoo i now want to add some quality mass to my frame with minimal lard, dont we all

At the moment i weigh just under 10st, 62kg or 136lbs and look like......

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/705/dscf0099lk1.jpg

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/5879/dsc00021xi9.jpg

http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/5492/dsc00024jm1.jpg

and the pins...

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/7758/dsc00025ad9.jpg

My initial goal is to get to 11st which would be the heaviest i have ever been, if and when i reach this goal i will evalute and see what to do from there!! I want toachieve an athletic physique, sprinter/ swimmer style something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe2cEbIBePY Got my work cut out

I had not planned to start this log for another few weeks because i have got a pretty hectic time coming up so it will be hard to do this properly, going on a 4day cycle trip in a week then on the 28th heading to mauritius and dubai for 2 weeks! yay! So the cycle trip is not exactly gonna help things, but im not in any huge hurry! The hotels on holiday do have gyms but i dont know if they will be just cardio machines or what.

So now it begins! Hopefully i can attempt to replicate some murpheyblew gains ( i wish )

off to the gym now so will post routine, diet and measuremts

over and out

Tom

hmm, I dunno about the routine. Have an ask in the routine section maybe, to see if anyone else has used it and has had good results.

Nice looking diet to start of with though. I'd carb it up a little more myself, around lunch and 2nd snack. What are the times to go with the meals? also amounts/portion sizes? and when does training fit into this?

Pretty much the same measurements as me when I started mate Although you have an inch on your quads and are a few kg's heavier!

Cheers murphy! Yeah i will carb it up a bit more especially on workout days! I typically workout around 11ish and have a pwo shake of whey and a dextrose, i dont really use that much dextrose tbh. I would consider the portions to be pretty large i.e when i say kidney beans i mean a whole 450g. I dont have scales to measure, may be an idea to get some. I would rather spend my cash on a dipping belt thoguh (anyone seen one for less than 20quid?)

Yeah i may post up the routine, is ice_mach around at the moment havnt seen any posts for a wee while?

Thought i would post up todays workout while im at it... Im not doing the workout on the days i mentioned earlier due to being away etc... and trying to make it fit in with other stuff. I have been making sure of proper rest!

So today i did what was fridays routine
deadlift 4 x 6 - 70kg
chins 4 x 6 - body
bench press 4 x 6 - 20kg db's
high pull 4 x 6 - 30kg
tri pushdown 4 x 6 - 28kg

Ohhh the weights dont include an olympic bar when used, i think it weighs 20kg.

Tom

Maby add milk as well, (if your lactose intollerent then go for soya milk).

I assume your on a bulker but your diet is so clean! thats a real good thing dude, most people just go around eating everything in sight. keep the fats low and try and cycle the carbs.

Farkin hell! I like me beans too, but jeas.. lol. Yeah scales do come in very handy. You can pic up some cheapo electric ones for only a few quid too.

Even better... got a lifting belt? I picked one up off of ebay for under a fiver, Golds Gym, leather, blah... anyway, a strong length of rope tied fast or some chain and bobs yer uncle!

Hey Wogihao, yeah i am lactose intolerant, only mild mind you. I can handle some products like little bits of quark when making protein bars etc.. but feel better when i dont...less wind Mind you with all the kidney beans i have been munching of late it doesnt make much difference!!
I feel ok about my fat intake at the moment, sources mainly being pb, homous, olive oil, oily fish and hopefuly some flax soon

Murphey, where did you get scales from? tbh i dont know if i will bother, i dont want to become obsessed with cal counting and numbers as i have had problems in the past.

I had thought about making my own dipping belt! When i priced up chain and belt (from local powerhouse) it wasnt really any cheaper than buying the dipping 1. Will check out ebay!

Hopefully ice_mach will have a look on his return.

I think i will keep the carbs highish, My body likes its carbs and will utelise (sp?) carb cycling when eventualy cutting. I am really noticing the increased carbs all my veigns are popping up all over the pace!!

thanks for the input folks!

Tom

Well i am bored...so i thought i would post todays diet up.

Wake - whey in water
brekkie - oats, berries, soya yoghurt and pb
snack - rice cakes with banana and pb
train - routine and weight above
pwo - whey in water with dextrose
lunch - tin of kidney beans, salmon fillet, poached egg and brocolli
Snack - small bowl of home made meusli (oats, sultanas and mixed fruit and nuts) with soya milk
tea - sweet potato, home made chili con carne, broccoli and homous

Xmas present lol. Expect you can pick them up anywere though mate. V inexpensive and no, its not for callorie counting.. flippin heck! I just use it for weighing pasta/rice, cooked meats/fish and my c/cheese sometimes, just to check I'm not skimping/going overboard with portions.

right. skimmed through the first several posts. Why would oarornothing want to cycle carbs when he is bulking though? why low fats?
