Thanks Gaz.

Work have organised a day go-karting and I was not looking forward to the greasy pizza buffet washed down with coke. You might just have saved the day.

My first attempt at these look like utter crap!!
The taste is exceptional however. Nice one Gaz!

I used a strawberry flavoured whey on top of the strawberry jelly so these are seriously strawberry(ey). No quark so used cottage cheese.

I've no idea how I'll resist tanning the lot in one sitting.

These things are great, nice to know I can snack without eating complete garbage. I've made these twice with strawberry whey and strawberry jelly powder though, and it's just too much. It's the most strawberriest thing I've ever smelled or tasted, so I've now ordered unflavoured whey for mixing in.

Also I find that I need to up the almonds to about 70-80g chopped, and an extra 30g of whey so the blasted things will set properly. Anyone else found that?

Yes.

The new amount of whey has now been added to the first post.

Glad you like them.

Nice recipe Gaz.

Just wondered, (don't know if it's been mentioned) I have loads of chocolate whey that tastes crap, you could use gelatin instead of flavoured jelly powder and the chocolate whey to make choc-fudge bars, this'll use up the whey, wadaya reckon?

Also I am sceptical about the use of the spreads due to their high content of trans-fats, could I use butter?

Rich

Right lads,

This is the initial batch of High protein 'Chocky' fudge bars, a'la Gaz's recipe

This is what I used...

100 grams of cream cheese
50 grams Whole Earth Chuncky Peanut Butter
115 grams of Butter
2 leaves of gelatin (found in most supermarkets, in the cake making area you might have to do a bit of hunting and asking to find though)
180 grams Chocolate whey

This is what I did...

1. Leave the gelatin leaves to stand in a bowl of cold water for about 5 mins.
2. While the gelatin is softening, melt the cream cheese, peanut butter and butter in a pan, the mixture might start to separate at this stage, so add a spoon of the whey powder and it'll come back together.
3. When all melted and mixed together, take the leaves of gelatin and squeeze out the excess water.
4. Add gelatin to pan and stir until disolved,
5. pour the mixture into your bowl of Whey, mix quickly till it's all whetted up.
6. Put into mould, and press down a bit.
7. Stick in the fridge.
8. Leave as long as you can
9. Eat!

Conclusion - I think they are a little 'buttery', so cut back 20grams or so if you decide to use butter. To make them a bit more chewy use 3 leaves of gelatin rather than 2. Gaz's receipe contains jelly powder which has sweetner in, so you'll need to add a little Splenda to taste. To make them more chocolaty add a bit of cocoa powder. You could even add some dark chocolate chunks to your whey powder, use the Lindt or Green and Blacks with 70% cocoa.

If you make some let me know how it went and what they were like.

Check out the pic below, it looks like something, but I can't put my finger on it, any thoughts?

Thanks again Gaz for the recipe

I tried the original recipe and didn't like them. Maybe because I used Flora instead of the St. Ivel??

Didn't like the taste at all. The other half didn't mind the taste so not all is wasted
