just made my first batch of these, there currently setting in the fridge although they were setting fast anyway. just tasted a bit of the mixture in the bowl! yum, yum! i couldn't find the lowest fat st ivel gold spread but got the normal low fat one but thats only 35g fat per 100g so my bars will have about 3g of extra fat in them, thats all. i also used 100g cottage cheese instead of quark. looking forward to these just had a great right arm workout mixing it.

No its fine mate, its nice to know people use the recipe, it's really tasty. I was going to experiment with a few different jelly powders to see what i could come up with.

ORIGINAL: OoOGazOoO Ok guys i have just made this and i have to say, they are amazingly good. Easy to make, a nice arm workout to mix, and they set really quickly and they taste superb. They are really chewy and just taste amazing. Ingredients - 100 grams of Quark 50 grams of Whole Earth Peanut Butter 50 grams of Almonds 115 grams of St Ivel Gold lowest fat spread 2 packets of Sugar Free Strawberry Jelly 150 grams of whey protein. Measure the st ivel gold spread, the peanut butter and the quark, then put this in the microwave until they melt nicely. Once out of the microwave, give them a bit of a stir so that they are slightly runny, should be a fairly thick consistency but dont worry. Place sugar free jelly in bottom of the bowl, chop up your almonds so these two are the first things at the bottom of the bowl. Then measure the whey, add SOME of the PB Butter and Quark into a bowl then add SOME whey, stir in. Then add the rest of the PB, Butter and Quark then add the rest of the whey and mix in. Mix this with a wooden spoon. Put in a tray or bowl in fridge to set and you should get the following (pics to come). This makes 8 bars in total!!! Nutrtional breakdown per 1 bar - Protein - 19.8 grams Carbs - 3.3 grams Fats - 8.5 grams. hey mate, i know im going to sound really thick, but where do you add in the water (if any), and the jelly? unfortunately i think i need the "idiots guide to making OoOGazOoO's protein bars".lol. cheers for anyhelp anyone.

Hi mate, no problem. No water at all buddy. 1) Empty 2 sachets of sugar free strawberry jelly powder into the mixing bowl (i.e. just the bowl where you mix everything together). 2) In a separate bowl, weigh out the whey and then add to the above strawberry jelly. 3) Weigh the Quark, Peanut butter and St Ivel gold in one smaller dish or bowl and microwave until runny (normally on highest heat in micorwave for around 2-3 mins). 4) Once out of the microwave just stir the above Quark, Peanut butter and St Ivel gold to check no lumps are still there. 5) Add the Quark, Peanut butter and St Ivel gold into the same bowl as the sugar free jelly and the whey. 6) Stir the mix altogether. 7) Dispense into a tray or bowl and then place in fridge to set. As for the almonds, what i tend to do is break them up or blend them up before i start and then just add them at step 1) with the sugar free jelly. Hope this helps. Just had some more this morning, they still taste amazing.

wow! gets well hard to mix it. starts setting straight away. i dont think it'll make 8 bars though for me to be honest. probably only four i reckon, in order for it to satisfy my appetite anyway. doesnt matter though. really smells chocolate orangey. had a tiny taste of the mix but it had started setting so didnt get a real insight, but seemed quite nice. the real test will be later. its in the fridge setting as we speak. will check it in a few hours, should be fine by then i reckon. my sis is into this stuff too and shes coming round later so ill get her to try some, and of course the mrs.lol

Nice one mate. Yeh thats the good thing about it, sets really quick, but if you dont get in there and mix it a.s.a.p. then it can get a bit messy. Just a tip for people in future. I did leave it a little too long when stirring before and went unmixable really, but i just stuck 1 egg white into the mix and then carried on, which then made it easier to stir and mix and also upped the protein count too.

yeah, thats a good idea, at one point i was considering putting some milk in as it got so tough, but i just carried on, coz like you said, was worried it would set even more. just checked it in the fridge, and its solid. consistency seems perfect. will wait till family get here then try it out. what do you reckon mate, do you think im being well greedy saying that i think it only looks like 4 servings? i guess i could just weight the total and split it into sizes similar to what you would get a bar in (80-100g). only problem is a bar such as that doesnt always fill me. although saying that, it might turn out to be really satisfying.

Hmm well what i normally do mate is make 8 bars but eat 2 at once, so that's 4 bars in total if you get me, 4 total servings. If you have used the amounts above i would make 4 bars personally as that's what i do with those amounts as above. Yes they should be set now, they will be nice mate, can you take a photo? ? ?
