Ok guys i have just made this and i have to say, they are amazingly good.

Easy to make, a nice arm workout to mix, and they set really quickly and they taste superb.

They are really chewy and just taste amazing.

Ingredients -

100 grams of Quark
50 grams of Whole Earth Peanut Butter
50 grams of Almonds
115 grams of St Ivel Gold lowest fat spread
2 packets of Sugar Free Strawberry Jelly
180 grams of whey protein.

Measure the st ivel gold spread, the peanut butter and the quark, then put this in the microwave until they melt nicely. Once out of the microwave, give them a bit of a stir so that they are slightly runny, should be a fairly thick consistency but dont worry.

Place sugar free jelly in bottom of the bowl, chop up your almonds so these two are the first things at the bottom of the bowl.

Then measure the whey, add SOME of the PB Butter and Quark into a bowl then add SOME whey, stir in. Then add the rest of the PB, Butter and Quark then add the rest of the whey and mix in.

Mix this with a wooden spoon.

Put in a tray or bowl in fridge to set and you should get the following (pics to come).

This makes 8 bars in total!!!

Nutrtional breakdown per 1 bar -

Protein - 19.8 grams
Carbs - 3.3 grams
Fats - 8.5 grams.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No water at all is needed for these bars.

1) Empty 2 sachets of sugar free strawberry jelly powder into the mixing bowl (i.e. just the bowl where you mix everything together).

2) In a separate bowl, weigh out the whey and then add to the above strawberry jelly.

3) Weigh the Quark, Peanut butter and St Ivel gold in one smaller dish or bowl and microwave until runny (normally on highest heat in micorwave for around 2-3 mins).

4) Once out of the microwave just stir the above Quark, Peanut butter and St Ivel gold to check no lumps are still there.

5) Add the Quark, Peanut butter and St Ivel gold into the same bowl as the sugar free jelly and the whey.

6) Stir the mix altogether.

7) Dispense into a tray or bowl and then place in fridge to set.

As for the almonds, what i tend to do is break them up or blend them up before i start and then just add them at step 1) with the sugar free jelly.

Hi Mal, ive eaten loads of them today, they are just too nice to be sitting in the fridge.

They are real nice mate, especially with the macronutrient content too, ive been trying to come up with a high protein, moderate fat, low carb bar for a while now, and i think i have finally done it.

Wiffers' bars are nice too.

These fudge bars are just awesome though mate.

Yeh 170 cals per bar.

Please make some mate and tell me what you think, you wont be disappointed.

I won't say what that reminds me of! lol... not appropriate!

Whats the nutritional breakdown on the St Ivel gold spread Gaz? Would be a bit iffy about using this I think..

Also I guess the jelly flavours could be swapped for others?

Looks like a good recipe though mate, although I haven't managed to track down any quark yet

Mate im as anal as it gets with diet sometimes, so i tracked down the lowest spread there was.

Which is the St Ivel Gold.

19 grams of fat per 100 grams, mostly good fats too.

Tastes really good.

Yes mate, was just about to say that, i would maybe go for 80 grams of cottage cheese rather than 100 though.

I have a batch setting in the frige now mate, i wondered why you called the strawberry "fudge" bars.....that was until i made the mix! Talk about goo! lol.

I didn't have any almonds so i increased the peanut butter content and i managed to feed to mix more whey, it didn't dry out but i dont think it could have took any more - 180g looks to be the max.

The break down for these is thus;

Calories (kcal) 207.1
Protein (g) 23.9
Carbohydrate (g) 3.0
Fat (g) 11.3

I am looking forward to trying them, trouble is i also have a fridge full of the Bigfella bars....and i am trying to cut, lol.....this is going to be a real test of my will power. I might have to nibble one though to see how good they came out...i will let you know.

They look good mate nutritionally.

Have you got any pics? ? ?

You wont be disappointed.

Even if you just have one bar they fit into most diets when cutting, i.e. high protein/moderate fats/low carbs.

Yes, its one hell of a workout when mixing, i was suprised at how well they set actually, they start to set when they are just in the bowl when you put them into the tray so you have to be quick.

Nice one for making them though mate, im really pleased with them.

do yours properly set? Mine seem to be still rather gooey? They have only been in the fridge an hour or so (just took the sheet out to cut them into bars) so it might be this, i will leave them till tomorrow and see what they are like then.

I think it may be the extra peanut butter which is making them more gooey.

They set really quickly if you use the ingredients as i listed, see what they are like a bit later mate.

That you mate, glad you enjoyed them.

Bit of a workout to mix, but the taste is amazing, they hold together, taste great and are really good nutritionally.

Im well pleased with my creation.
