I'm finding it hard to believe just how popular this idea is ! It certainly seems that allowing people to have a taste of the sport in this way could be something worth doing each year.

Even if a few people decided to compete in the novice events after this is a big plus, maby more events like this are needed. I have to be honest I wouldnt have considered competeing in a novice event till I was sure I wasnt going to come last, but somthing like this should be great fun and a chance to meet up with everyone - so i dont worry about this, I have a feeling everyone will have a blast whatever the result is. With the experenced strongmen comming to help and give advice it will be a great day. Plus its a good chance to showcase Tom's exelent equipment and maby get some orders!

Ok - I've got a few comments and suggestions... I've seen people having discussions about what is allowed in terms of equipment. Well I'd say you can use anything that would be allowed in a strongman contest. Only exception is I would say no squat or deadlift suits. Anything else goes. There seems like there is going to be quite a range of abilities there, from guys who have already done a comp, to guys who have never touched the equipment before. Likewise there is oging to be a variety of different weight guys. So I suggest treating it as a training day rather than a comp. For instance: We set out 5-6 events, and split the competitors into 5-6 groups based roughly on their strength/experience. Then each group starts on a different event, and after half an hour or so, everyone moves on to the next one. There will be enough experienced guys along I recon to have one or two experienced guys giving tips and advice on each event. Make a full day of it, then in the evening a meal and a beer or 3?

It will all pan out on the day I'm sure, Colins idea is a good one and yes there does need to be a competitive element to this with prices on the day. Once we have the full list of competitors it can all be looked at then.

Its is a really good idea, I know there are lot of young guys and guys weighing 70-90kgish who would love to try strongman, but most novice comps and 105 comps are just way out of their leauge. It'd be a really good way to keep guys interested in the sport.

Really like this idea! Are there plans to organize some sort of accomodation or should we seek out own? Does anyone know if wells is far from the location of the day? cheers Tom

I think Colin is spot on with what he has said there. oarornothing Wells would be about 1 hours drive best guess to Toms place.
