I'd definitely like to have a crack guys.

Would really much rather do strongman than PL, but don't have access to equipment etc...

I'm finding it hard to believe just how popular this idea is !
It certainly seems that allowing people to have a taste of the sport in this way could be something worth doing each year.

Even if a few people decided to compete in the novice events after this is a big plus, maby more events like this are needed. I have to be honest I wouldnt have considered competeing in a novice event till I was sure I wasnt going to come last, but somthing like this should be great fun and a chance to meet up with everyone - so i dont worry about this, I have a feeling everyone will have a blast whatever the result is.

With the experenced strongmen comming to help and give advice it will be a great day.
Plus its a good chance to showcase Tom's exelent equipment and maby get some orders!

Ok - I've got a few comments and suggestions...

I've seen people having discussions about what is allowed in terms of equipment. Well I'd say you can use anything that would be allowed in a strongman contest. Only exception is I would say no squat or deadlift suits. Anything else goes.

There seems like there is going to be quite a range of abilities there, from guys who have already done a comp, to guys who have never touched the equipment before. Likewise there is oging to be a variety of different weight guys. So I suggest treating it as a training day rather than a comp. For instance:

We set out 5-6 events, and split the competitors into 5-6 groups based roughly on their strength/experience. Then each group starts on a different event, and after half an hour or so, everyone moves on to the next one. There will be enough experienced guys along I recon to have one or two experienced guys giving tips and advice on each event. Make a full day of it, then in the evening a meal and a beer or 3?

Dam will have to cancel the tripple ply denim suit..... just kidding

colin - sounds like a plan, more like a seminar/training day. its meeting everyone and getting the experence on the events im most intrested in, plus getting some good results on the events.

but a frendly bit of compition would be nice as well, maby if the lifts/results were recorded a overall leader board could be compiled.

The major problem like you said is there is going to be such a range of weights and abilitys.
Im not sure how you would fairly weight the scores ect..

It will all pan out on the day I'm sure, Colins idea is a good one and yes there does need to be a competitive element to this with prices on the day.
Once we have the full list of competitors it can all be looked at then.

Its is a really good idea, I know there are lot of young guys and guys weighing 70-90kgish who would love to try strongman, but most novice comps and 105 comps are just way out of their leauge. It'd be a really good way to keep guys interested in the sport.

I think Colin is spot on with what he has said there.

oarornothing Wells would be about 1 hours drive best guess to Toms place.

Best to get the list together and then i will sort out details with the experienced guys via telephone and put a final guide on here.

RE accom. - Same as above, once I have a full ist i can see who needs it and ring round places and ask for a discount - they may even have a nice big car park

7 MORE PLACES GENTS GET YOUR NAMES DOWN

Sorry to put a limit on it but it all has to be organized etc etc and there is te issue of finding a venue big enough etc etc. IF the 30 places are full the i suppose we could make a reserve list incase people decide not to go??
