Hi Tubbs.

I'm in no way an expert, but from reading comments in my own journal and articles by Toxic Toffee you might want to consider trying lower reps, but higher weight.

http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/newsletter-0307.aspx have a read of TT's article

Maybe go for 8 reps, if 10 is achievable increase the weight next time.

hi stu, thanx for post!

Well for my first 10-12 months training I was doing very low reps, typically 3x5, 4x5 etc etc, and made some good gains. Not too long ago I was beginning to plateau, and was having various joint pains.

Basically the lighter weights - higher reps is just a big changeup, I feel like I've really shocked the muscles and I'm feeling a bit bigger! I'm also feeling a lot less joint pain.

Yeah, heavier weights worked well, and I might well go back to them at some point, but not till I've exhausted this routine!

Cheers!

Friday

Seated Smith-machine Press
--- 4x8 --- 30kg

Upright Rows
--- 4x10 --- 32kg

Dumbell Lateral Raises
--- 4x10 --- 10kg

Dumbell Shrugs
--- 1x10 --- 25kg
--- 1x10 --- 30kg
--- 2x10 --- 25kg

First week doin shrugs, hence the varied weights! Tbh, not sure what to do after shoulders on this day.

Tried calves, but don't really see the point as I already have relatively quite large calves, shrugs just didn't really seem to work as I couldn't really feel them working or any DOMS, specially considering its the first time I've EVER done them.

Maybe I'll try forearms... I'll have a think!

Right, decided to finally post some pics up due to my bro nagging!

I'm 5'9", hovering just under 90kg. I'm not quite sure what my BF% is tho....? I've been weightlifting now for about 2 years.

Let me know what you think! (I think the lighting is off, I'm sure I look better than that... )

Its good to take progress pics I find - easier to compare as every time I look in the mirror I feel like i'm not getting anywhere !

Bet we looked really camp strutting around the kitchen getting mum to take the pics LMAO
Hope the neighbours were out
