29/12/06

30 min Seated bike
15 min x-trainer
15min treadmill 7.5kph

Hydrotherapy pool for 20 mins

Going to train delts and bi's later today, feel a bit lost without my deadlifts but there no real point trying to do them even with a lifter weight and keep the reps up (as i did last week) I'm going to the chiropractor friday afternoon anyway

Just had a look through, the pics don't look too bad.

I think if you stick with your plan of bulking till Feb/March, then go on a decent cut you should see some good results.

hi mate,
yeah thats sort of the plan i was thinking of. Problem is i really need to try and get some meat on my shoulders and my arms to leser extent. So its going to be ALL OUT with the upper body training until feb/march!
Going to plum for the 22.5kd DB's today once i can get to 3x8 i'll have to switch to BB ohp (prob seated) as my gym has only one 25kg DB - someone broke it about 6months ago and still not been replaced!

Was lookin at your past photos yesterday mate - blimey you looked like arnie in one of them!

Cheers! Not had a comparison like that before, im certainly no Arnie! Which picture did you mean?

I reacon if you stick with heavy compounds as much as you can and keep the calories coming you should do ok. From your pictures it looks like a good base to be adding mass to.

31/12/06

Finally the gym was open (got there yesterday for the 2md time this week to find that "its closing in 5 minutes"). Wish they sort themselves out. Anyone would think it is the festive period...

Seated DB Press
22.5.kg 3x6
Pretty pleased. First time using 22.5kg's for a VERY long time. Not wanting to rush increaing the weight thats why i waited til i got 3x8 @ 20kg. First set good. could have maybe tried 7 reps but stopped short maybe next week2, 2ns set only slighty hard. 3rd rep seemed better than 2nd!

Lateral raises
7kg 2x10
Despite me trying not to do many isloations and grow off compounds i stiff feel my delts nned more stimulus so added these. I was very careful with form, the kept upper arms in plane of shoulder blades and fore arms @ angle of 30deg approx - as read in an article on T-Natio re: shoulder care. Also made sure thumb was higher then little finger. I think the idea is to do with the head of the humerous in the socket not being in a dangerous (for me) position. I didnt seem to have a problem with them this way

Incline DB shrug
30kg 2x10
Taxing but thats what its about! I think i'm doing these correctly now but never actually had anyone wayching me doing them i mean overseeing not spying! Pulled something in my upper back though i'm putting it down to these. I'm having probs with my back anyway (lower) hence no deadlifting, but this is much ligher up

Fixed weight EZ Bar Curls
32.5kg 8, 6
Added a 1.25kg plate on end of each side. too big but to bridge the gap between using a 30kg and 35kg fixed weight EZ bar. Got 2x8 10 days ago.
This was quite a struggle, trying to maintain from especially on last set. Wasnt going to get 7 even with mediocre form so called it a day.

Stretching then home.

Great Uncles 80th party in afternoon and had load of ham and beef, salad, spuds, bread (pringles...) brought a load of it home too

Rodge

Cheers b_light. My traps seemed to grow quite well from just deads, but recently added in incline db srugs into routine. Not deadlifted for a goo 7-10 days due to my lower back from problems and tweaked somethings in my niddle back yesterday doing the shrugs. I must admit i wasnt warmed up for the shrugs as i hadnt done deads before them maybe that had something to do with it?

IIRC you about the same weight as me arent you ~200lbs? and i squat simiar weight. What height are you mate?

A touch of Cardio today:-

30min bike thing
15min x-trainer

soak in hydropool and home.

Bench, Rows, chin & RC work tomorrow I'm sort of inclined to try adding in a couple of sets of close grip bench after the bench not sure yet. Not sure if my tri's are getting enough work?

180/185lbs. 6' tall. I was 185 before i took a break over xmas and didnt eat as much as i should have been. Was 180 with no clothes on yesterday, probably just water weight im guessing. I suggest doing BB Shrugs or DB like you are doing. Once i threw shrugs in my traps exploded!

Hi mate,

Is you 200lbs your aim then i'm sure i read that figure somewhere! The shrugs i do are face down on an incline bench and i shrug the DB's back and up so i feel it working more of my back, than just "upper traps". I do them very slow and controlled. I seem to be increasing the weight quite quickly on these.

try them they feel so more satisfying than convential standing shrugs and i believe they work more musculature of the back
