Well according to the scales I've managed to lose the sum total of 1 pound this week ! now I dont know what other people might make of this but I think I've gained lean weight / glycogen as I look fuller and denser if that makes sense.I know I've been eating in manner that would only allow me to lose a small amount at best but that was the idea as I thought I might be able to pull off a reduction in fat along with some muscle gain due to my complete lack of decent training over December.I'll see what the mirror and scales tell me at the end of this week before I make a knee jerk reaction and cut cals , as I've said I want this to be steady and sustainable weight loss.

Today

Incline bench - 60k x6, 70k x6, 80k x6, 90k x5, 100k x2
Incline flyes - 27.5k x10 , x8
Dips - BW x12 , x12, x9
Close grip ez bar presses - 50k x10 x8 x6

Off to the physio's shortly to see what she can make of my elbow and knee prob's , not expecting miracles but it cant hurt , well except my wallet , it's £43 for the first session then £33 there-after.

Firstly well done on the non drinking matey. I dont mean to scare you but I had the worst cravings after about a month of not drinking. I dont know why but you get passed that and you will be on your way.

Are you finding that you are eating more...all those empty calories to fill....that will pass after about a month mate and you can really crack on with your diet then....from then on it is plain sailing to Mr Olympia 2009!!!

Well I went to the physio's last night and I was fairly pleased with how it went. The physio said that my elbow problems were caused by stiffness in my neck and back which is consistant with what two osteopaths have said previously , she did some work on my neck and back which seems to have help straight away and she's given me some gentle streches to do.I'm going back next week to see how I'm doing and she's going to have a look at my knees. I feel quite positive about my chances of getting my elbows back to normal now , if I could get my knees sorted I'd be over the moon and under a squat bar very shortly thereafter

Oh - 16 nights

^^^^ Isn't it !

Bent rows 50k x6, 60k x6, 70k x6, 80k x6 , 90k x4, 50k x12

V handle pulldown 70k x6, 90k x5, 70k x8 then dropped straight to 45k x8

Leg extensions 20kx20 , 30kx10 , 20kx12

Leg press- 40k each side 3x12 I hope everyone appreciates my honest here

Then we tried some 'jumping' lol, this involved jumping up onto one of those aerobic steps which we built up until we couldn't jump any higher. My training partner had seen this being done by 'The Rock' on a you-tube vid and apparently he thinks we should incorporate some of 'The Rock's ' drills into our training , next week were gonna practice clothes lining each other and the people's elbow joking aside jumping was good fun and I'm keen to improve my athletisicm (sp)

^^^^ I'm thinking of incorporating line dancing as part of my HIIT cardio
Funnily enough my abs were as sore as hell the day after our 'jumping' experiment. I'm hoping to work out a more structured plyometric / HIIT routine so I can gauge progress. As I've already said I am really keen to improve my athleticism

Sh*te workout today !

Military press 50kx6, 60kx6, 70k - failed to clean it , 70k cleaned it but failed to lock out , 50kx10, 50kx6

Dumbell shrugs 4 sets working up to 50k db's

Seated calf raises 3x 10

Gutted with the military press , I was nights last night and only had 4 hrs sleep so I suppose I could use that as an excuses. Shrugs are new so not sure what weight or rep range I want to use yet , 50k db's were dodgy reps and because of the thick handles at our gym I struggled to hold them , guess these will be a test of my grip strength progress.
Not really feeling any real progress in my elbows from the streching but it's early days yet.

My boss is leaving our company and some people are touting me as his replacement, I'm not actually keen on this idea as I really dont think I'm ready for the position yet and I have enough grey hairs for a 32yr old as it is

It is, and I'll thrash the man who says it isn't. By the Lord Harry, I'll knock him to the floor and consider it a job well done.

Not as impressive as a month, or six, or a year. But it IS impressive.

Another weekend here once more - you know the drill. Carry on.

Dont underestimate yourself mate, if he could do it so could you. You have my backing.

Anyway Jim Robinson seems to be doing alright with his grey hair.

^^^^Cheers lads , I dont know who Lord Harry or Jim Robinson are but I guess you both mean well

I seem to have broken the habit aspect of my problem as it doesn't feel odd not to be drinking I just really miss the lovely numb relaxed feeling and the taste now.Taking each day one at a time is also proving to be important as when I consider not drinking for 6months to a year my heart sinks and I feel quite anxious.I'm not sure what I want long term but I hope that I can resume social drinking at some point without spiralling back to my old ways.I declined an invitation for a boozy night in at my mates house tonight , I told him we would pop round for a coffee at tea time instead

Very pleased with how I looked this morning , definately looking leaner and more muscular, I feel really good about it all at the moment. My elbows are still bothering me but hopefully the streches the physio gave me will start to bear fruit shortly.

Going to start including cardio this week , bag / pad work , plyometrics and sprinting after workouts to start with then steady state cardio on non workout days to follow. Diet will be kept as it is , until I feel I need to tighten it up.

Well done. I tried giving up drinking on weeknights for new years but it didnt really happen.

Do you still go out to pubs or just stay out of the way of alcohol?

Best of luck with the non drinking mate.

I am doing it aswell, i have to say i am starting to find it getting easier, i was at a house party last night where alcohol was flowing freely but was quite content to watch people make idiots of themselves, i also went down the pub today and had a couple cans of irn bru, which surprisingly doesnt make you feel as wrong as you would think!

My training has been no good but my non drinking has been exceptional....

Best of luck :)
