What shall I change in my shoulder workout?

At the minute I do this; Seated dumbell press 12, 10, 8, 10 with 25kg, 30kg, 32.5kg, 30kg Seated barbell press on Smith machine behind neck 15, 12, 12, total lifting weight 30kg, 35kg, 35kg lateral raises 10,10,10 with 12.5kg bent over lateral raises 10,10,10 with 7.5kg Barbell shrugs 10,10,10 with 60, 80, 80 Soemtimes I swap barbell shrugs for upright rows 10,10,10 with 20,30,35. How would you recomend I change my workouts... I'm aiming for strength and size.... Thanks peeps. JT

looks like alot of volume to me, at the moment im working shoulders with chest and tri´s all i do is four heavy sets of six seated db presshad good gains from this and if i feel like i need it will do some lateral raises which isn´t very often lol.

dumbell or front bar press 5 sets ,bar or dum shrugs 5 sets,if you do rows in your back workout these also hit rear delts.all sets counting warm ups.i would not do behine neck or uprights,but that is up to you.

Like youssef I only do one shoulder exercise usually, the push press, as I feel my delt's get worked well benching - I may from time to time also add lat raises but only occasionally. Agree with motorhead re exercise choices, I neither would do upright rowing or behind the neck pressing merely as I feel they could be more trouble than they are worth.

I opt for seated barbell military press and heavy shrugs. I feel its all i really need. They are for 5 X 5.

I agree it seems alot of exercises for a small muscle group (well mine are anyway.lol) . If you are truly giving it 100% on dumbell press I don't see how you then go on to barbell press , using the same muscles. I think limiting to a couple of exercises concentrating one on anterior the other on posterior muscles would be best .

I wouldn't bother with both dumbell and barbell press. They are doing essentially the same thing so it is pretty much like doing 7 sets of one exercise. More importantly why are you asking the question? I only change stuff for a reason. Plateau, imbalance, pain etc.

Agree with youssef and Griff, shoulders get worked with chest and tri's so all I do is 5x5 set of military presses.

Cheers for the replies guys... will try doing fewer sets and maybe dropping some exercises and see how that goes.. In reply to you Roger I just feel that my shoulders are lagging behind and the area I need to improve on most and i'm not getting the results I would hope for... Will update and see how the changes go.. Ta, JT
