Thanks Bro - Gotta be good at something. I'm guessing its going to take a 700lb deadlift to make me a deadlift freak at my age/bodyweight..thats the goal

Thanks -I used to follow more of the Powerlifting principles 5x5, linearization, etc, but now doing Strongman and endurance plays a bigger role, hence reps variation

Hi Tom, just been looking through your journal, very interesting reading - sounds like strongman training really takes it out of you Your strength is very impressive, especially the deadlift Hope the family crisis is sorted out now btw

Getting close my man!!! I did yoke today and managed about 20ft total with 2-3 drops with i think 570. It was a light day today though and wasnt really pushing hard so i think i should be good with the 600 by the time contest rolls around. Taking it easy this week then gonna push next week then rest up after that for the comp.

Good deal my man! I went maybe 40 ft with 2 drops, 3 picks..not what I was hpoing...but as said was on gravel. I think on ashphalt I "might" could manage the 60ft with one drop halfway..lets think positive I feel OK on the other events ATM

Thursday - Scheduled OFF day, but had a lad (new aquaintence) travel 45 mins to train with me. He's originally from Rugby England I did Axle deads..he bought bar with him 170x5, 260x5, 330x5, 400x5, 450x1, 500x1, 525x1, 545x1..well right at lockout and grip failed me...all without Straps or suit Tire flips - 625 tire, slick 5 reps one way, partner sent it back - very brief break and repeat 4 more times!! So 25 reps Atlas stones 185x5 to 52", 250x5 to 52"..load and remove each Medley 185 to 56", 250 to 52", 335 to 44" Last set 250x5 to 52" load and remove Almost forgot..James brought a couple of kettleballs and I tried a few presses and overhead snatches I feel good, but know tomorrow it might hurt

Great vids Tom - those weights not only looked heavy but sounded heavy when they hit the ground! Your grip must be ridiculously strong looking at how thick the axle is. Is there any knurling on it at all or is it smooth?

Completely smooth mate... I've only tried axle one other time and it was at a contest and straps allowed..did 550x5 Certainly was good to try without straps..i think i'm capable of a 565-575 axle dead, strapless

Sunday - mess about the house a bit, then early afternoon a friend came over and cut up the rest of my tree logs Lucky for me I got to load them all to his trailer. He cut them into about 2 ft lengths and there were large. I'm guessing between 150-250lbs. I loaded them atlas stone style...and carried the smaller ones to trailer. There were about 20 of them..My back is very very tight Easy on squats tomorrow and then max yoke carry on Wednesday after chest/shoulder tri workout 12 days till comp
