Good luck with the smoking.

Good call on the switch to more of a cardio focus too, should take the pressure off not being able to lift as you want and will probably re-motivate your training, especially when you begin to make significant body composition changes.

The weekend manchester meet was such a good weekend.

everything went really well, a real testament to the organisational skills of tan and paul, without them the day would not have happend.

With the help of fat pete managed a 1 rep max of 130kg on the squat! Very pleased as ive done no max attempts for a good year of two due to injurys.

Trained pretty much everything on sat so took a rest today from everything.

Just a quick blast on my shiny new mountain bike to relax me

First of my weight loss workouts today.

Biceps

3 x 8 seated curls 16kg (30 sec rest)
3 x 8 standing curls 10kg (30sec rest)
2 x 8 reverse curls 20kg + bar (30 sec rest)

30 mins treadmill (10mins speed 5 incline 5, 10mins speed 6 incline 6, 10 mins run at 7-10speed)

Treadmill was really hard work, especially the middle ten minutes, harder than the running.

Going to try this after each workout if possible, with the exeption of legs as i dont think id manage it.

So ideal workouts from now on 20mins weights, very short rest periods followed by 30mins
intense cardio. With the odd HIIT session thrown in for good measure.

Im aiming for 4 sessions per week if possible.

Seeing a shoulder specialist on thursday, top consultant so im hoping to move forward with that soon.

being refered to a physio for my ankle to fix my ligament problems so thats positive as well.

Chest infection is all but cleared up as well! Stopped coughing up blood which is always a bonus in my book!

Did my back tonight, very short rest periods again, intensity high due to the limits on time.

Back

1 x 8 24kg DB row
1 x 8 30kg DB row
2 x 8 36kg DB row
1 x 6 36kg DB row

3 x 8 60kg Lat pulldown

30mins cardio on treadmill (speed 5, incline 5 fairly hard for me)

Massive pump of the back work i did, really pushed myself on the rows with the dumbells.
Really enjoying the new focus this has given me in the gym.

Just wish i could do some pressing movements, ANY at all would be nice!

Any pressure whatsoever at all on the joint, is excruciating mate.

cant raise my arm/hand above my shoulder as the pain is too much.

Even very light dumbells are agony, tried pec dec mate doesnt happen.

Called impingement syndrome, and looks like an operation in on the cards.

one of the reasons im focusing on the cardio side of things alot more.

if i have to go in for an operation i want to be really fit to aid my recovery.

till then im just carrying on with legs, back and arms as much as i can.

Saw an article in the press at the weekend about saline injections for impingement/ frozen shoulder. Sounded good so might be worth dropping into the conversation with the surgeon along the lines of "I read an article on saline injections..." they love it if you drop informed snippets like that at them

Here is a link but Google holds more under "shoulder saline injection".

I'm seeing an osteo for my shoulder probs and he's worked miracles with me over two sessions. Right shoulder is more or less fine as that was a relatively new injury, left one much better but got some scar tissue which will take some time to work on.

Thanks for the advice guys and girls, osteo was something i was considering but never got around to.

Been to see very good orthapedic consultant today and he's fairley certain ive been misdiagnosed by the G.P.

Its not impingement syndrome for a number of reasons, one being the cortisone didnt work at all.

It appears its http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SLAP_tear

Unusual name! So need an arithroscopic MR scan to confirm the diagnosis then its key hole surgery!

Waiting time is 8 weeks or so but hopefully be able to get in sooner if my friend can sort it.

Not looking forward to this at all. Recovery time is 2 months off work, and 6 months full gym recovery

can only be properly diagnosed with an arythroscopic MR scan mate, so try and get refered to an orthapedic consultant or surgeon asap

Sounds painful mate and possibly nothing an osteo could do if it's a tear

Anyway, on a side note where's JP, what've you done with her, not heard from her since the meet

She's having a lot of problems at the minute.

VERY stressed out as were trying to buy a place together but her parents have there own ideas about what WE should SPEND OUR money on and where and what to buy!

So she's fallen off the gym radar a bit i think.

She only went if i constantly nagged her, didnt really have the spark of interest that i have in me.

Find it hard to motivate both of us to go the gym, BUT ill keep on trying!

She wont beat me yet!

Biceps and cardio tonight

4 x 6 BB curls 30kg + bar
3 x 8 Concentration curls 14kg

30mins walking speed 5.5 incline 6 (pretty hard!)

Going to start upping the cardio after my holiday! 28th of march california here i come!!!!
