Try not using the scales for a little while. If you're getting your cardio in, eating clean and are on track with your training the mirror will be where you see results. I've put my scales away for the time being and am focusing on what I used to be proud of and getting it back

There were certain things I really loved about my bod when I was in shape, they were:
Seeing the veins in my lower abs, biceps and shoulders and seeing the creases in my abs when I was crunching as opposed to the tyres I have now

I appreciate though, that you're heading for a competition and I'm not, so it's obviously crutial to you that you know your exact weight closer to comp time, but sometimes if the scales show no loss it could be down to a number of things other than no loss of body fat, which could give you an uneccessary psychological blow.

flick, it's hard to put 2lb of muscle on in a year let alone a month when you've been training as long as I have and you're natural

gemma, I know.....but I'm different

NDB, that's exactly why I'm only weighing myself officially once per week.

I do think I have 'shrunk' a little as the trousers I had on today felt a little baggier.

I'm absolutely knackered tonight. Full day of stats with another one tomorrow....yes on a bloody Saturday .

Legs are hurting like mad still.

Sandwiches as expected at lunch and possibly ate far too many of them but I was blooming starving.

Had turkey and mixed veg for evening meal. Think I'll be in bed very soon tonight but at least I don't have to be up as early tomorrow to miss the usual morning traffic.

Went to bed at 8.30 last night. My skin has gone so dry, I'm possibly dehyrdated as I've not been drinking much over the last few days as I'd have to keep running out of lectures, never mind the journey home . So I've had a good 9 hours and feel more knackered and my eyelids are swollen . I'm going to have a day off the 'fat burners' today, I'll take some with me in case I need a pep up

Another mentally hard day. Absolutely knackered now. Food was hard as there was only one canteen open and it was a choice of battered cod, sausage casserole, veggie sausages or veggie curry . Ended up with veggie curry (which was very nice but needed some chicken in it ), threw some whey down me when back in comp lab.

I confess that I've even hit the bottle tonight

,thanks

How on earth I can be an inspiration is beyond me but it's nice to hear

Can't you just tell I'm on the slippery slope? I'm so peed off after my overindulging weekend. I shouldn't have but I did....I got on the scales and I'm 2lb up from Friday No one forced me to drink that wine/eat those crisps that my hubbie left on the table next to me/eat that Indian. Now I have to face up to the consequences and having the negative attitude doesn't help.

My hubbie says, "just do extra cardio then"....if only it was that simple.

I have what I can only describe as a groin strain that keeps coming back and was not helping me on the treadmill this morning, I tried the stepper and that was fine, trouble was I was having difficulty walking after doing it

I have come to realise that I might not be able to do this on my own (so much for not relying on Big Les). Having someone else to 'be responsible to' and someone 'keeping an eye open for you' really does help and that was part of the reason I set up this journal. I feel I'm baring my soul

Apologies for the waffle but in my mind a progress journal is not just about numbers and lifts. I think a lot of comp prep is also in the mind. It's good to look back at comments like this to see it's happened before and that I have been able to overcome it......now where is my lasy journal

Come on Kitty!!! Like they say, there is no point crying over spilt milk!

The weekend is now over and the over indulgence as well. Is time to look forward. Use this journal and of other peoples as motivation. I am sure there will be someone in your gym that you can strike a partnership for the training and personal motivation away from the MT Forum.

Write down all the objectives. When is the competition? Write that down as well. What is the weight loss objective? Write that down. Do an agreement with your hubbie, apart from one evening a week you are not to be food naughty. If he advertently sabotages it, agreee with him consequences...i.e. if you need to do extra cardio as put by him, you will have to forfeit one of the house chores that he has to do for you.

Its hard and difficult, but you have been here before. You can do it and YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT AGAIN!!!! Lets get those motivation juices flowing again and lets start kicking ASS!!!!

Thanks Paul, great post, I need to bookmark that not sure hubbie will like it though

bagz, no offence taken . I am very curious as to what I could do if I wasn't natural especially after someone commented to me after my last comp (as per my avatar) that they too would love to see me 'enhanced' but my curiosity as to what I can do naturally far out weighs what I could be like enhanced. I know I will never have any regrets staying natural but I may have regrets if I decided to take something.

Kitty I know exactly what you mean when you say you think you might not be able to do this on your own, I'm the same. Going to meet PT in a few weeks to tweak diet, give me a bollo**ing etc for not being disciplined enough...
Don't be ashamed if you need some help, we can't all have wills of iron but for the record I think you're doing really well too, stop getting on those bloomin scales!

Tough times Kitty, but don't be so hard on yourself.

I think sometimes we dwell on our failures or try to hard to "make up" for them thta it's easy to become run down and bogged down wih it all. As Paulo says, it's done, move on.

No shame at all in needing help, whatever form that may take. But just remember help is all that it is. The actual hard work is all down to you. You've done it before and you WILL do it again. So there

I find my journal helps so much in terms of the mental side of things. I often get bored of my posts when my diet is practically the same day in day out, and my training is the same for months on end. But being able to log everything, get things off my mind and also receive advice and motivation - helps no end.

One day at a time Mrs - don't stress it.

Thanks bagz, if you're basing your comment on my avatar then I'm actually quite flattered

Flick, I know I know, the bloody scales. I tell everyone else not to do it and go and do it myself. Just wanted to see the damage I'd done this weekend.

Lradford, you're right, there's nothing I can do about it now. It's even too late to consider sticking my fingers down my throat, not that I could do that anyway.

I do agree with the journal for mental side which is why I started it. I was talking away to a blog and there was no one to comment on it so I was spilling my thoughts out to cyberspace and beyond and not getting any return, even a simple kick up the arse. I'm the same with not wanting to type the same thing in day in day out as I change very little when I'm in mode but as I realised that things weren't happening, that's why I changed what I've been putting in, so I can see myself why it's not working. I look back at last week and I know I've not done enough CV and I've eaten bread, two of the factors that I know don't help me ..............and then I have the nerve to winge

Thanks for your support guys, it is appreciated
