Cardifflad cuts for the summer and gets his fitness back. - 04 April 2007 17:47
Right this is about my fourth journal that I have started on here but the others were updated rarely due to lack of training due to alcoholism. My most recent journal "road to soberness and strength" played a large part in my beating the drink and getting back on the straight and narrow.

I have moved house with my wife and am now settled down into my new routine and the gym plays a big part in that.

I am 16 stone at the moment (aged 27 years old)...holding some fat due to the drinking but that can quickly be cut off. I am a pretty easy gainer...plenty of rest and good food and I do grow well which is a bonus. I have never done gear and am never going to (as it is not for me) so I am sticking to creatine and protein as the only weight training supplements.

I have my own unique way of training and dont tend to go into as much detail as some of you lads and lasses on here but it works for me. I train..
Monday - Back
Wednesday - Shoulder/Legs
Friday - Chest/Arms

Approx 45 - 60 mins intense sessions. Cardio involves cycling to work and swimming on the odd occasion.

I will post my diet and further measurements after the Easter weekend as it will be my last weekend of binging before the diet starts in ernest.

I look forward to your comments and critiques
Cheers

Have done some kick boxing but nothing overly serious. Stick to the weights now I think. If I was single and could dedicate myself solely to boxing then I would but I am married now (which isn't a bad thing by the way)

RE: Cardifflad kicks arse - 10 April 2007 11:38
Right...after the bank holiday weekend I have come to the conclusion that I can NEVER touch a drop of alcohol again. Over the last month I have dropped back into my old ways..drinking ever night and heavily. Shouting at my wife for f*ck all and basically being a right cnut.

I was trying to drink once a month but as soon as I get the taste for it then there is no stopping me so it is T-total from now on. I tried a bottle of Alcohol Free Becks last night and quite enjoyed it so there is hope for me yet

This is going to be a challenge but it has to be done. Any messages of support (however small) are welcomed!!!

Having a week off to let my body recover and then give it a good kind of hammering next Monday
Cheers

Mate, without being evangelical, you have seen the light.

You are aware of what it does to you, mentally as well as physically, so its up to you to keep it on track. You have tried the alcohol free stuff and enjoyed it so it means that you dont really need the alcohol as such but the taste of the beer, so go that way. Believe that it is better for you all round.

Not much more to say, as I havent been "addicted" to alcohol as such, but I have not drank for well over a month and only drink when I feel like. I have stopped mainly because I dont really like the taste of the stuff and does nothing for me, only a headache the next day and feeling lethargic and grumpy which is something I dont like to be (I am bad enough without an hangover! lol)

Keep track of your alcohol free days and how much better you feel and how much your wife will be proud of you... Just remember on one side, training goes well, wife loves you and is happy with you, your training is much harder and profitable, you feel energetic and full of life; on the other side, and using your words "you are a right cnut!"

Your choice!!!

Good luck!

Cheers Slimbobs and Solosailer.

I train in my works gym at the moment...cheap and easy to access. It's like having my own personal gym at times

As for stats....5ft 11inches....16 stone at the mo...unsure about other measurements..lst time I measured I was

17.5 inch neck
16.5 inch bicep
38 inch waist (beer )

Unsure now so will measure up (so to speak) when I get home tonight

Things are going ok with me thanks mate, a lot better than before, but not as good as I would ideally like

I phoned AA earlier this morning, I'm going to go to a meeting next week I think. Not really looking forward to it but if I can get some more tips and motivation to stay sober then it will be worth it

Good step forward mate brilliant. That is another f*cked up coincidence as I rang them at 12:30 am on Sunday p*ssed up to find out where the meetings were the next day but the next day came around and I bottled it. I am going to see how it goes the next few weeks and re assess the situation. Good luck anyway mate

Nice one....I need to go on a bit of a cut at first to strip the excess fat that the drinking has put on me. I would say cut right up to around 14 stone at first and then take it as it comes.

I want to train for size and strength but at the moment the good feeling that training gives me will do.

Cheers

RE: Cardifflad kicks arse - 11 April 2007 08:47
Just about settled into our new flat and my wife and I have just about worked out where everything is and she made me some gorgeous steamed chicken and jacket potato last night. When I am coming of the alcohol I eat like a pig as I am making up for the lost calories so it is important that I eat clean and my wife is an amazing cook (which helps)

Had a decent nights sleep last night. After giving up the alcohol I get really paranoid and have dodgy nightmares and so I am not training until I have my sleep sorted. I will start on Monday and get the measuring tape out then also

Cheers
