Evening gentlemen. Quick post before I go to sleep.

Here is where I am mentally at the moment, a good place as far as I can see.

1. I have come to the conclusion that alcohol will play a part in my life.
2. This will, as money situation and sh8t sorted, be an enjoyable experience.
3. I will train regardless and sort my diet out to perfection.

Alcohol will be my one and only vice and that will be on the odd occasion and enjoyed.

My wife and I are the happiest we have ever been and I am not going to let alcohol ruin it this time. I need to train though. . that is a major part of getting this show back on the road.

Cheers lads

GOOD LUCK

Cheers Pete. Just got back and it went better than I expected. Switching to the 5x5 routine for a while to see how it goes and it worked well. Really worked the muscles well and I am back in the game

Regardless of the odd drink on the weekend or once a month I will continue to train all the way through. How I haven't trained for a month is beyond me. . I love it.

Cheers lads

This journals getting worse than if you miss an episode of eastenders, the whole plots changed again
I do hope you all the best in the future with this, what made you rethink the whole abstinence thing again?

Tell me about it

Just keeping you on your toes. To be honest with you I was finding myself turning into a right pr8ck when I was trying to abstain totally. I love a relaxing drink when I am happy and that is what I will have from now on. Financial situation is sorted and I feel so much happier that I know alcohol won't take over my life again and I won't abuse it to forget.

I am really positive about this mate. Relaxed because when I try and not drink at all I want to drink more. Now that I know I will be able to have the odd drink I am so much more happy and concentrating more on my training.

The rest of this year is going to be amazing and I am really positive about it

All the best with it mate.
If I can give any advice on the 5 x 5 then give me a shout, I've been doing it for 4 weeks so I know all there is to know.
Seriously though, I think it's a good routine so far and I'm trying to do it and cut at the same time, should be fun.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I think the pics will be leaving it for this year

At the moment I am concentrating fully on getting back into my training and keeping it consistant. I am sorting my diet out and will cut but not enough of a cut to enter the comp I don't think.

All good apart from that. . . well Liverpool lost to the cheating diving Chelsea scum but apart from that

Keep it on a tight rein CL, a very tight rein. Don't let it start to slip through your fingers.

You be careful now,

The thing is that abstaining completeley can set up as bad a habit as the one you're trying to avoid.

Finding middle path and 'learning' to moderate consumption is a good thing to focus on for a bit but, again, getting to het up about it is not healthy either.

Long term health depend a great deal on long term healthy habits.

Cheers mate. Yeah it did kind of turn into an obsession and was rather stressful at times.

I will be fine now as I know that I:-

1. Cannot drink alot anymore as it wrecks me for a week
2. Cannot afford to drink alot both healthwise (mental and physical) and relationship wise.

Cheers Drewsky

Reading your plight, I'd suggest that Alcohol is almost a barometer for your happiness. I dare say, that when you are happy, you can enjoy a bevvy in a responsible manner, or even a few in a pub every once in a while. Take it or leave it. If you are happy. If you are not, you seem to hit it bad, almost as a cry for help and to the detriment of the actual good things in your life. You find a reasoning, a train of thought to justify drinking.

Possibly keep your head down, focus on training, the results are a reward. I find I don't miss drinking. I never got to the stage you are at, so possibly not qualified to comment, but I couldn't have one. It had to be at least 6 or 7, even on a school night. Tuesdays I'd be out til 3am on the lash, up on Weds at 7 to go to work. Perhaps have none in the house for a while, get into a routine and get truly happy. Then just see what happens. I prefer eating to drinking! Seeing the mindless dross out on a Saturday night, and caining £70 for the privilege is not my idea of fun.

You shouldn't make yourself unhappy by avoiding drink, though if it does, that should be alarm bells. As I keep saying, when you are truly happy, you can take it or leave it. You shouldn't need to make a conscious decision about including drink in your life.

Hope you enjoy the 5x5, it's fooking ace! Keep your chin up, get the pictures posted, sans balls, and see how it goes. I can't wait for the end of May to see how I've progressed

Apologies if I've been a bit preachy, I just want to see you get there mate!

Ross mate you are bang on. I need to keep training regardless and when training I don't want to drink as much.

Control is the key
