DBAM'S HOMEGYM PROJECT !!! - 13 May 2007 03:34
The History
I got intrested in BodyBuilding when I was 13 watching Arnie films,Rambo etc but never set foot in a gym till I was 17 did'nt have a clue what I was doing but made a few minor gains.Soon lost interest though and was more intrested in having a wild time.
I became housebound at the age of 23 due to a illness and decided to get some weights to aid with recovery and began to train at home started reading about BodyBuilding diets,Routines etc and put this into practice experimenting all the time.
In the following years I went from 10 1/2 stone to nearly 17 stone (not all muscle was carrying a little fat but nothing excessive) I put this down to not only training and diet but also to the medication I was taking (and still do) it appears to act like a steriod for me.
After my recovery I met my wife and had kids so BodyBuilding took a back seat for a while but always wondered how big would I be now if I had kept at it so in Jan 2007 I decided it was time to do something about it and get training again bought myself a multi gym and loads of loose weights and will be purchasing a power rack in the near future.Found MT and decided to join (one of my better decisions) and never looked back.

The Plan
To get back to my former size then go beyond it I have'nt ruled out using AAS but at a much later date.Basically hit 17st and then cut first.

Why keep a Journal
Always regretted never keeping one before photos etc and I have got the memory of a goldfish (must be my age) so need to remind myself of what I was doing etc.

Will post my routine and diet soon and stats

Please feel free to give opinions on them or anything else all advice welcome

Thanks for dropping by (Pinched that off 1manriot)

My Routine

Have tried more routines than I can remember since starting years ago done more splits than a gymnast. Liked the look of Cashmans routine and began using it after a few minor adjustments as I have found I do better on a descending rep range and ascending the weight.Took years to find this out trial and error anyway heres my present routine

SAT CHEST/TRI'S

Bench press 4 x 12,10,8,6
Pullovers 4 x 12,10,8,6 (last set to fail)
flys 4 x 12,10,8,6 (last set to fail)

Skullcrushers 3 x 12,10,8
Pushdowns 3 x 12,10,8 (last set to fail)

SUN BACK/BI'S/ABS

Bent over rows/single arm dumbell rows every other wk 4 x 12,10,8,6
Cable rows 4 x 12,10,8,6 (last set to fail)
Wide grip pulldowns 4 x 12,10,8,6 (last set to fail)

Straight bar curls 3 x 12,10,8
Preacher curls 3 x 12,10,8 (last set to fail)

Machine crunches 4 x 14,12,10,8
Leg raises 4 x 16

TUES LEGS/SHOULDERS

Leg extensions 4 x 12,10,8,6
Leg curls 4 x 12,10,8,6

Seated dumbell press 4 x 12,10,8,6
Upright row 4 x 12,10,8,6 (last to fail)
flys/Bent over flys every other week 3 x 12,10,8 (last to fail)
Shrugs 4 x 14,12,10,8

I know my leg routine is bollox but taking it easy at the moment as left knee is not much good due to a car crash just trying to build up strength so when I get my power cage I can start squatting
I need to start keeping a list of weights used as well at the momement just whack on enough for first set and add to it for the rest
And where is the bloody cardio I have got a cross trainer better start using it

So thats my routine feel free to rip it to bits or advise on what to drop and replace

MON 14 MAY 2007

Was going to make a determined effort to get my @rse into gear and do some cardio but lack of sleep knacked that idea. Not feeling to good today and not eating to well doc has increased my medication so probably getting a few sides at the momement. It's got me feeling like sh1t.
Have had to put training back a day as going into work and won't be finishing till late

This is more like a diary than a training log roll on wednesday !!!!!!!

WEDNESDAY 16th MAY 2007

Legs and shoulders today changed my grip for upright rows was using a wide grip but felt my wrists were suffering so changed to closer grip felt my traps getting hit much better.
Also extended pause at the top to 2-3secs workout was much harder using this but felt better.

Not going to keep log of my weights as perfect form is more important to me than how heavy can I go so the weight used is not a issue fully working the muscle is and must admit is giving better results.
Each to their own

Your like me mate, get bored and then go back and fill it in again.

Mine also resembles a diary more than a training journal, no harm, I like to vent sometimes!

Do you keep a record for yourself so you know what weight to pick up each time you go in? And to track progress? I have done this since Christmas and found it very helpful.

1MANRIOT I don't keep a record as such but top idea of keeping a list of my start weight you see I am not one for keeping logs on weights but if I stick my start weight down that would be ideal for me

Cheers mate never thought of that

TREBOR thanks for that mate

When I hit 17 stone I felt like my body could'nt cope with the weight especially my legs was'nt walking more like stomping about
I think the main problem was the weight seemed to come on to fast due to the medication I was taking and my body did'nt have time to properly adjust and also the severe lack of cardio meant I was in no condition to carry it.

Starting to put weight on now averaging 2-3lb per week but will run my cardio this time older and wiser LOL

With regard to Pullovers I rate these very highly indeed always used them found my chest has come on great with these seems to hit the full surface of it.They also hit lats and ribcage great for giving you that V taper

Yeah I don't get too anal over the weights week by week, but it helps to look back to the week before so I can put the same weight on, or if it was done with all sets clean, up the weight. Also useful to look back every few months and see the progression.

Nice tat dude, what colour is the rest of it going to come out?

Rest of the colours are yellow on the skin a highlighted pink for the belly black for the eye and red mouth tongue its also got to have winbars and leaves, lightining etc all round it will look awesome when its done.
Does'nt look very good in the pic as the colour needs to settle in and I am a sh1t photographer

Will be keeping a log of start weights though good idea mate
