I know exactly where you're coming from with stopping bulking mate, i was overweight through most of high school i lost a lot of weight and i have started bulking now, i had the same feelings as you when i started 'i'm going to look fat', but the way i look at it is that you don't have to get fat on a bulk, if everything is controlled you can prevent it.

If you do see yourself getting fatter or fealing fat adjust the diet accordingly over a couple of months you will find out what will work for you, you may well loose the six pack for a few months as i have but you look bigger whilst bulking and, as i have found, i get more complements now than i did when i was small and 'thin'.

Also think about the long run, if you get bigger by bulking for a few months this year, think of how you will look when you cut after the bulk next year.

Good Luck.

thanks for that mate, its good to know im not the only one, and i will continue bulking as i know i will be better for it.

As for my routine jumbling, im still using the serge nubret routine, and will have my next session tommorow morning, upping the sets to 6 for each. Need to start giving my journal title justice

Ever since i decided to start bulking ive been plagued by feelings of being "fat" which i most certainly am not, yet i have been terrified of putting on fat while adding muscle. todays the first time ive overcome this fear, but i have also decided to stick well clear of scales atleast for now, as i always either feel fat or tiny when weighing myself... with the 2 extremes being just 5-6 difference. from now on i will judge my progress through the mirror, i feel asif ive gotten bigger and no matter what the scales tell me, i have.

this is the point where:

some give up and go back to being a recreational gym go'er and abandon high hopes of progression
some try and bulk and cut and stay small and go round in circles
some move forward

your choice

the 1st and 3rd are fine, the second IMO is what drives me to write things like the hard learner

you are not weak if you opt for number 1 - but if you do dont talk like you are number 3

if you opt for number 3, add weight and size, enjoy it and deal with what comes with bulking

good luck

i will stick to my plan of bulking, i fully intend to pack on as much lean muscle as possible, keeping fat gain to a minimum but i accept that there will be fat gain, it isnt going to be easy and i will most likely need to stay clear of scales atleast for now, but i want to get bigger and i know i have the willpower and strength of resolve to get me there. cheers for the input tt, i always welcome and respect your 2 p

Confidence is once again sky high, im good i know it,

I will get the liscence next time as i have improved so much and my only problem is nerves.

Got called into work early today so didnt get time for gym, will go tommorow morning early then, no biggy, i was planning on going but things got in the way, no need to worry just reschedule. ive been eating heaps still, big and clean. still have stayed away from the scales though. i have to admit tonight i had a little posing session in front of the mirror and i feel bigger than i haveever before, my stomach isnt as defined as it was but my arms, chest shoulders legs are all bigger and i can feel it. who needs a 6 pack when i got size. good frame of mind and i redo my driving test in 17 days at the latest in which case I WILL GET IT.

Jaby mate, cheers for posting, encouragement = good!
Just took a read through your journal, it was a rollercoaster ride. Really interesting but bumpy.

So here's my 2p

I have read quite a bit on MT over the last few months, and from what i have seen there are shed loads of people who 1 day dash to the gym full of confidence, and try lifting everything in sight. Quite soon after this they will miss a couple of days due to being stressed, or unmotivated. Seems like peaks and troughs and unproductive in the long run.

From your stats e.t.c. you are 17 years old, with some cracking lifts and obviously high but realistic aims. Just like my situation, we both want to look good i.e. 6 pack cause we didn't have one before, and we want more lean muscle but are afraid of losing definition in the process = catch 22.

Therefore, my advice would be to list several aims such as 75kg x10 x10 x10 on squats and microload each session from where you are now. No matter what you feel like on the day you will still probably be able to lift it fine as it will only be 1.25kg heavier than last time, and it will show gradual yet significant progress. Do this till you reach your goal, continue your diet like it is and once you get there re-assess want you want and move forward. If the 6 pack has faded and its summer, try a cutting routine and keep your weights pretty much as they are. When your ripped bulk up 5-6lbs and increase the weight.

I want all these things too and steady progress is keeping my feet on the ground and pushing me on.

Best of luck, if you keep focused and steadily improving you will have any physique you want.

P.s any pics of this beauty your talking about?

cheers chap, i have to admit ive never really used microloading, alwaysgone for the gung ho 5 to 10 kilo increments which in some cases worked, others just really really hurt .

i am very intrigued by it and will give it a go at my next session, cheers for the encouragement and i am working on getting myself a half decent camera to get some pics up. cheers again mate

As for today, last day of work before a 4 day weekend. yep 4 days im pretty stoked. tommorow planning on nailing Bi/tri/Calf and using the sunbed again, other than that 4 days of relaxation baby havent had one of these in around 8 months.

Bi Tri calves, to wrecked and lack of equipment to do calves though

Warmup was a 5km walk from work to the gym

Close Grip bench-
40kgx8
60kgx8
65x8
70x6

first time doing close grip today, felt pretty good and triceps got a good smashing.

havent done hammer curls in ages and got a good pump from them

Seated Row-
50x10x10
60x10

gonna try and make these new permanent exercise for bi/tri day as it leaves my bis and forearms very cramped after using it.

Superset:
Tricep Dips & EZ Bar Curls
Tricep Dips-

5kgx10x10
10kgx10

DAMN

Ez Bar Curls-
20kgx10x10
30kgx10

DOUBLE DAMN

Thats all for today, hired out a few good movies gonna enjoy a quiet night in.

Hair cut and coloured today, looks pretty good, litle bit to short but give it a few weeks.

my biceps are still to sore to do chest today so ive put it off until tommorow, ive got another day off so its no big deal. not sure why my biceps havesuch bad DOMS, i never get doms in my biceps, mmm

bought an iPod and arm strap to wear it at gym, already got all my songs on there now just gotto wait until tommorow to use it!!

Demeanor is good, ive lost some of my definition but im cool, ive gotten some size on and atleast some of its muscle, also started taking creatine today, 4 doses per day 5g per dose for 5 days loading, then 2g per day for 3 weeks then load again, i read in an article on the web today this is one of the best ways to take creatine, im skeptical but the tub i bought is huge and i can afford to experiment.

Thats all for now, tune in tommorow for my working out my 1RM for Squat.

While im Here its about time i posted some goals other than "get bigger"

ok here goes

BenchPress: 100kg in the next 6 months
Deadlift: 120kg in the next 6 months with good form
Squat: 100kg for reps with good form in the next 6 months

currently my
Bench is 80 for 5
Deadlift is 100kg for 1 with shoddy form
Squat is 80kg for 8 with questionable form.

i intend to get there by microloading, adding 2.5 kg per fortnight

also when i get my next paycheck i intend to look into getting a camera, a decent digital one so i can get some pictures up, and buy a decent set of scales.

Todays session, pretty damn good new PB on Squat and weight up on Bench.

Squat:
60kgx10
80kgx8
90kgx6 PB
100kgx3 PB
110kgx2 PB

felt asif i could go heavier as i met the parrallel and kept good form, but lost my nerve.

Leg Press:
50kgx10
100kgx10x10
110kgx10x10 PB
started microloading some weight onto it, started with 5kg each side might tone it back down to 2.5kg next session.

Flat BB Bench:
60kgx10
80kgx8
85kgx2
90kgxfail
i was pretty sh!tty after not getting the 90, but oh well always next week.

Incline DB Bench:
25kgx10x10x10
Barely get the weight up to start reps but once i was on my back with the weight up it was surprisingly easy, might go 27.5 next week.

Routine still isnt all that good, gonna work on it later today, important thing is im going all the time and getting some good weight on.

Bring on Deads Tommorow!!!
