Friday 23/11:

0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 15g pesto, 30g olives, 80g broccoli, 60g tomato.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: legs.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2100: 200g chicken, 120g green beans.

Squats 4 x 10, 60kg.
SLDL 4 x 10, 40kg.
Leg press 4 x 10, 115kg.
Calf raises 3 x 12, 69kg.

Some of machines at this gym have really funny weights of plates.

Saturday day was normal as usual, but went for a posh meal at night which was yummy and very rich and very naughty (lots of foie gras and truffles and rich sauces and meat). And I had a couple of glasses of vino too.

Sunday I had a "healthy" grilled fry-up for brekkie as my visitors for the weekend wanted a full English. I didn't have any sausage and I know bacon is high in fat but mushrooms, eggs and beans aren't too bad I suppose. Whey during day, a banana, and chicken and cabbage for dinner.

I also started taking creatine mono on Saturday: 5g daily, no loading phase.

Oooh and I forgot to say, I started my a.m. unfuelled cardio this morning!!

I got up at 6am, wrapped up warm, whacked my new HRM monitor on and wandered off into the cold dark morning. And do you know what? I really enjoyed it! I did 42 minutes at an average of 117BPM and it was rather pleasant and has given me a bit of pep for the day.

Hopefully my enthusiasm will continue!

Are you wanting to gain muscle ticteaser??

Please don't be disheartened if you gain weight whilst taking Creatine, you're probably gaining muscle...

Also, what's your resting heart rate?

I do want to gain muscle Flick, yes. And I'm prepared for gaining weight too, even if it is all just water in my muscles!

To be honest I'm trying the creatine for the small increase in strength it's supposed to give, to see if it makes any difference to what I lift.

My RHR is terrible at 67, used to be a lot lower than that! I'm going off MHR of 200 at the mo as a guestimate but will work it out properly tomorrow at the gym. I'd do it tonight but I'll be having a couple of ephedrine tabs before Combat so the results would be nonsense!

I use Creatine and have been for the past 6 weeks, it could just be in my mind but I've experienced massive gains in that time since I started using it... They've levelled out now but I'm happy Let me know how it goes...

Fingers crossed I will too then! Which creatine do you use and how do you take it? Does taking 5g with my oats in the morning sound ok? I've read different opinions: some have said take with simple carbs, some with fast-release carbs, some have said to take it at certain times of day. It's impossible to find one theory that everyone agrees with and adheres to, apart from loading not really being necessary. I know not to mix it with boiling water so I don't 'kill' it though - this morning I left my green tea to go a bit cold then stirred it in. I'm not drinking it in cold water though - I did that yesterday and threw it straight back up.

Will keep you updated, cheers Flick.

Monday 26/11:

Training: 42 mins unfuelled cardio at 117 average HR.
0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 15g pesto, 100g spinach, 80g tomato.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: Body Combat and abs.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, 100g green beans.

I also outdid myself on water yesterday since I've started the creatine: I normally manage about 2 litres, but yesterday I drank 3 litres of water, plus about 7 mugs of green tea, plus the water in my whey as well. My boss will hate me though as I seem to be getting up for the loo every 5 minutes!

I loaded it for a week taking it 4 times a day. Only used a Precision Engineeered (cheap) brand...

I started taking mine with juice, now I just take it with water whenever really...

With water!

It's like Andrews or Resolve or something like that - I can't keep it down!!

Tuesday 27/11:

Training: 43 mins unfuelled cardio at 129 average HR.
0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 15g pesto, 100g spinach, 80g tomato.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: chest, shoulders, triceps.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, 100g green beans.

Smith bench press 3 x 10, 25kg.
DB incline press 3 x 10, 12kg.
BB military press 3 x 10, 17.5kg.
DB lat raises 3 x 10, 6kg.
EZ bar skullcrushers 3 x 10, 10kg.
Tricep kickbacks 3 x 10, 8kg.
Dips 3 x 8.

Wednesday 28/11:

0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 15g pesto, 100g spinach, 80g tomato.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, packet of Supernoodles.

Off work ill yesterday with a splitting head that I was trying not to let turn into a migraine, so no training; plus diet went a bit wonky with the Supernoodles, but I honestly couldn't be fussed with nice healthy veg after a day of not being able to see properly and lying in a dark room. Lucky my lunch and whey etc was already prepared so apart from the noodles it wasn't too bad.

Thursday 29/11:

0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 15g pesto, 100g spinach, 80g tomato.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: biceps, Body Combat and abs.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 100g tomato, 50g broccoli.

Seated DB concentrations 4 x 10, 10kg.
Cable rope curls 3 x 10, 40kg.
BB curls 4 x 12, 17.5kg.
3 sets each of hanging leg raises, Russian twists, plank, side plank and one-leg Swiss ball crunches.

I know my biceps routine was a little odd, but I thought I'd try and shove 'em in there since I missed yesterday, and I couldn't get the barbell I wanted for ages.

I'll stick my plan for today on now too or I'll have forgotten it by Monday!

Friday 30/11:

Training: 41 mins unfuelled cardio at 120 average HR.
0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 100g tomato, 50g broccoli.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g pork fillet, 100g asparagus.

Can't do my weights tonight as I've run in dog poo this morning and I've no other trainers until I clean these.

Must remember to get some old trainers for morning cardio from my mum and dad's when I go home for Christmas so I can keep my decent ones for the gym. Bah. Will try and do my legs on Sunday instead.

Saturday 1/12:

0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 50g pasta, 15g pesto.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: big bowl of tagliatelle carbonara and a few glasses of wine.

Had a friend down for the weekend so he wanted to go out on Saturday night - I'm quite impressed with myself for sticking to a few glasses of wine rather than getting lashed like he did!

Sunday 2/12:

1215: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1500: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: legs.
1730: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 100g pasta, 30g sauce, 100g home-made meatballs.

Squats 4 x 10, 60kg.
SLDL 4 x 10, 40kg.
Leg press 4 x 10, 115kg.
Calf raises 3 x 12, 69kg.

Haven't been able to do any unfuelled cardio for the last few days. Well, I could; but I've decided I don't want to be washing dog poo off my trainers all the time, so my lovely mummy is posting some old scruffy trainers down to me today. Mums are ace!

1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: Body Combat and abs.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, mushroom risotto.

Had a few too many calories yesterday but the risotto was left over from what I made my landlord on Sunday (I'm trying to stop him living off cheese and ham toasties and beer) and needed eating.

My luverly mother has now posted me some scruffy trainers, which should hopefully arrive tomorrow so I can get back to my a.m. cardio. Yay!

1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: Chest, shoulders and tris.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, 200g asparagus.

Oly bar bench press 3 x 10, 40kg.
DB incline press 3 x 10, 12kg.
BB military press 3 x 10, 15kg (less than last week, boo! Possibly coz I benched with the Oly bar and was a bit more knackered?).
DB rear delt raises 4 x 10, 6kg.
EZ bar skullcrushers 3 x 12, 10kg.
Dips 3 x 10.

Did a bit of abs work too: I'm trying to concentrate on them a bit more at the mo as they don't seem to be making any progress, so I did 3 supersets of weighted crunches, toe-touches, lying leg raises and Russian twists. Felt a bit sick afterwards coz I overdid it though.

Wednesday 5/12:

0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 100g spinach, 50g pasta, 15g pesto.
1630: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: back and bis.
1830: 2 scoops whey in water.
2000: 200g lamb, 160g aubergine, 70g pepper, 10ml olive oil.

Deadlift 3 x 15, 40kg - couldn't get on the Oly bar so had to make do with heaviest fixed-weight BB they've got, hence higher reps.
DB one-arm bent-over row 3 x 10, 16kg.
EZ bar curls 3 x 10, 20kg.
Seated DB concentrations 3 x 10, 10kg.

My trainers arrived in the post from my fabulous mother yesterday too so I was able to get back to my unfuelled cardio this morning. Unfortunately she's sent me her old trainers and they've cut my heels to ribbons, so I only managed half an hour before hobbling home.

Will try plasters and a couple of pairs of socks tomorrow to see if they're any better like that. I'll get her to post the others out too though.

Diet went a bit wrong yet again yesterday when I totted all my figures up, as I didn't realise lamb was so high in fat. Oops. It tasted soooo good though!

Sounds like it's all going well for you. Don't worry about loading creatine it's not essential. You could always add it to some sugar free cordial or into a whey drink.

Cheers Kitty - I keep starting to just about get it all right and then something crops up and spoils it all, but I'm getting better!

I didn't bother with the loading and am taking it in a slightly cooled cup of green tea. Can't taste it at all! Hopefully will start noticing its effects soon...

Thursday 6/12:

Training: 30 mins unfuelled cardio at 123 average HR.
0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 100g spinach, 50g pasta, 15g pesto.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: circuits and abs.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, 160g aubergine.

Had a really good day yesterday apart from cutting my a.m. cardio short due to the trainers from hell. I've been at my new job 3 months now, so my private healthcare and pension scheme have kicked in. Hurrah! Plus my boss thinks I'm ace and I'm eligible for commission now too. Hurrah again!

Also, Body Combat was cancelled due to no-one being around to teach it, so they put a circuits class on instead. I don't much like circuits but I thought I'd do it for a change; and I'm sooo glad I did. The trainer got people to pair up, so one of the many girls who I've been trying to smile at and say hello to for months had to speak to me since she was my partner. Ha! She was actually really nice; maybe people are just a bit more slow to talk to strangers around here or something. Plus she asked me if I do kick-boxing or something coz she thinks that I look like I really know what I'm doing in Combat, which made my day as I think I look like a loon with arms and legs flailing about everywhere, albeit enthusiastically. I must admit it is starting to get me down a bit that I don't know anyone around here: sometimes I feel like I'm stuck a million miles from anyone I know, and being stuck in the house at the weekend with no-one to go out with can get me down. My landlord is lovely, but he only ever goes to his local, so the only nights out I've had properly are when friends come down to visit me from home. Sometimes I'd just like to be able to have a girlie night out or at least have a girlie mate who I could meet up with for a gossip, but I'm really struggling to meet people down here. And there are no women at work. Just being able to chat to other women at the gym would make a big difference I think. Oh well, it'll soon be Christmas and I can go home and catch up with all my mates at home!

Oh, also, I've decided to up my creatine a bit. Most people on here seem to say 5g a day, but I'm not noticing any difference whatsoever yet and the tub says to have 2 teaspoonfuls a day, so I'm going to try that.

Break the habit of a lifetime, speak to them!

Oooh I do!! I've been going round this gym for the last few months like a loony talking to anyone who catches my eye, and they're all ignorant buggers who can barely crack a smile; especially the girls who wander round in crop tops and full make-up whilst never breaking a sweat and occasionally do something twiddly with a 1kg dumbell!!

I've moved to a bloomin' area where I don't know anyone so obviously I want to meet as many new people as possible so that I can actually have some form of social life. As it stands the people I know here are my work colleagues (all very nice but wouldn't choose to socialise with them) and my landlord. I've been to the local with my landlord a couple of times but in the 3 months I've been here I still haven't had a night out in St Albans as I've no-one to go out with.

"Aha!" thinks me, "No problemo - I'm sure to make new friends at the gym!" Nothing doing. One bloke now smiles and says hi in the free weights section after I once managed to coerce him into conversation, and the Thursday Body Combat instructor will chat a bit. This has now been added to by the bloke stood next to me in BC last night who actually started talking to me after weeks of me saying hello and trying to make small talk! So basically in the last 3 months the only social life I've had is if I've gone home for a weekend or if I've ventured into London as I know a few people there. Aaaargh!!!!*

*Apologies for my loopy outburst. I think I'm getting cabin fever through lack of friends and endless weekends sat in front of the TV on my own.

I was the same when I first moved to Burnley, no one would talk!!! Just gotta stick with it, they'll crack in the end!!

Cheers couture, I know it'll get better, but every now and then it gets to me a bit and I need to have a good old moan!

Friday 7/12:

0715: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: tin of tuna, 100g spinach, 50g pasta, 15g pesto.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
Training: legs.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: 200g chicken, 200g peppers, 100g homemade tomato pasta sauce.

Squats 4 x 8, 65kg.
SLDL 4 x 10, 45kg.
Leg press 4 x 12, 115kg.
Calf raises 3 x 12, 69kg.

Next week I think I'm going to lower the weight on my squats and see if my knees can handle going deeper. If I do full squats it grinds my knees but I'll have a bash at them again since I've not tried for ages.

Saturday 8/12:

0800: 40g oats, 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 10g sunflower seeds, 2 egg whites.
1030: 1 scoop whey in water.
1300: 100g gammon, 2 eggs, 200g baked beans, 100g mushrooms.
1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: venison stew and apple crumble and custard, mmmmm! And lots of wine.

Saturday was meant to be my cheat/rest day as I was watching the boxing at night, but Sunday ended up going totally to pot too due to sleeping all day and not training and having a hangover. All I ate was gammon and eggs at about 4pm and a Chunky KitKat at night. I had gallons of water due to my horrid hangover from hell though. I must've finally staggered to bed at about 8am so Sunday was always going to be a wasted day I s'pose.

1700: 1 scoop whey in water and a banana.
1900: 2 scoops whey in water.
2030: venison stew and apple crumble and custard, mmmmm! And lots of wine.
