Think I have just found training nirvana!

quote:

Renegade Manmakers: (courtesy of Gym Jones)

With dumbells in OH press position, perform a burpee by lowering weights to floor, squating down and kicking both feet out behind you while performing a pushup. This should leave you in the up position of the pushup.
Do one row on each side. Avoid rotating your torso in the direction of the row.
Snap your feet underneath you into a deep squat position.
Clean the dumbbells to the rack position.
Push press the DB’s back to the start position.
Repeat

Going to give those bad lads a shot sometime soon

Hi!

Do any of you folks do DB snatches

I see alot of the Rugby team and other athletes doing them in the gym and gave them ago today.

Nice movement i felt, felt more natural to me than a BB snatch I was also much better with my right arm than my left arm when doing them, which was stange seeing as i am left handed.

Thought it may be the type of thing people in here use.

Yep, use these in more or less every strength workout, great movement.

Alternate between dumb bell and kettlebel snatches depending where 'm training (db at gym, kettlebell at home). If you like db snatches, give the kettlebell version as try some time - it's so much fun you'll p1ss yourself lol

Back to training myself tommorow, had a stomach bug the last couple of days, dodgy meal Thursday night methinks, so had trouble eating and keeping anything down over the weekend, little dehydrated too as a result.

Felt a little better today, so hoping to fuel back up for a proper sesh tommorow night. Been a while since my last max strength day so that'll be the prupose of my tommorow's sesh.

Good luck with the test tommorow Mook mate, let us know how you get on.

Osagi

Thanks mate

I'm wide awake still as I always get anxious before tests. It could be a picking your nose test and I'd build it up into the biggest epic known to man.

I much prefer dumbells to barbells for power movements such as snatch and c&j. Highlights weaknesses better IMO

Done and dusted

9:29 - Best treadmill time yet, still hate running on treadmills but luckily will never be going near one again. Awful things!

Training now has specific goals to reach but I won't be training for them specifically if that makes any sense

Pull Ups (overgrasp) 12+
Press Ups (2 mins) 100+
Sit Ups (2 mins) 100+

1.5 miler (road) 8mins 45 secs

Bleep Test (VO2) Level 13+

Nothing out of my current reach and with approximately 10 weeks to prepare this shouldn't be a problem at all, onwards and upwards

The things i've highlighted in bold.. Is this a workout out you did or a test you must complete for something? The army? Some sort of schollarship? Or just a personal goal?

Seems pretty challenging.. The press ups are where i would fail i recon.

No just goals to reach over the course of the next couple of months

Training won't be based around this solely but I'll be testing each one out in 4 weeks and 8 weeks to check for improvements.

They're all fairly achievable now so shouldn't be a problem. The bulk of my training is going to be based around bodyweight endurance and sprinting.

Time for above circuit:
24:48

Absolute killer, by round 2 I'd be lucky if I was clearing 10mm on the burpees!

This morning:

Run:

Work / Steps Of Hell / Home : 2.1 miles

18mins +

Stopped counting after that, approximately 19.5 I'd say. Bit of a dodgy knee from working all week on a building site so hoping it's just bruising as opposed to anything serious.

By the way, shovelling 20 tonnes of dolomite, filling 3 wheel barrows for 2 hours is the way forward for sheer exhaustion

I can't walk today! Well I can but I look like someone has put a pineapple up my bum

Running seems to sort it out which is what I did this morning

Same route as yesterday, untimed

Gym later on but haven't worked out what I'll be doing yet

Yeah, found 2 but found no real use for them in a training capacity so put them in my flatmates cupboard

liking your training mook! and love the sound of those renegade manmakers

Ive tried one arm dumbbel snatches but prefer BB snatches, maybe its just cos im not used to single arm ones. I want to try kettlebell swings, heard there a good exercise too.
