End of Week 1 Side Effects - none Strength - hard to say as I've only really trained twice and it's the 1st week so nothing to compare with Weight - up 2kg Injuries - very sore lower back but majority of excercises should still be able to proceed so feeling positive. Weight fluctuation after Week 1 (in Kg's) This should be quite interesting after a few weeks.

Trained Chest & Biceps yesterday. Absolutely fine on my lower back apart from getting up from dumbbell bench press as I have to rock myself from lying on the bench into an upright position. It's that or drop the weights on the floor and I'm not a big fan of that. Dumbbell Bench Press 14 @ 85lbs 10 @ 90lbs 7 @ 95lbs 6 @ 95lbs SuperSet with Preacher Curls 14 @ 55lbs + bar 10 @ 60lbs 8 @ 65lbs 6 @ 70lbs followed by 3 stripsets Dips 15 @ 45lbs 10 @ 50lbs 8 @ 55lbs 6 @ 60lbs quickly followed by 12 BW reps with rest-pause at about 8 & 10 reps SuperSet with Reverse Barbell Curls 12 @ 70lbs 10 @ 70lbs 8 @ 80lbs 6 @ 80lbs, 6 @ 50lbs, 12 @ 30lbs Then I tried to pick up my water bottle and dropped it because my grip was completely gone Felt like a right mong. Cable Crossover 3 sets of 12 superset with wide-arm Press-Ups Another quality session. When I was showering, I was washing my shoulders and I felt like my front delts were enormous. Even if the AAS was having no effect, the psychological effect is amazing. Every time I think of pu$$ying out on a set and stopping early, I just think of the cycle I'm doing and how I want to completely maximise my gains over this period and it helps to eek out another rep or two.

Thursday Upper Back & Traps Have added this extra day because I have very poor definition in my upper back so I'm going to add some extra sessions in the hope that it will respond well. Also, I've read many times how there are more receptors (?) in the traps so AAS has a big effect on their growth. Had to sneak in to the gym at lunchtime as we had a team evening out so wouldn't have time after work. Bent-Over Row 15 @ 135lbs 12 @ 150lbs 10 @ 165lbs then straight after 10 @ 135lbs Thought this might cause my back some grief but absolutely fine as long as I kept technique spot on. These were done as a Giant Set with Reverse Flyes and Seated Dumbbell Shrugs Dumbbell 1-Arm Row 15 @ 80lb 14 @ 80lb 12 @ 85lb Kept the reps up as still worried about my back, but once again fine. Dumbbells only go up to 100lbs so I don't want to max out just yet so will prefer doing more reps and keeping full ROM rather than upping the reps and twisting my body loads. These were Supersetted with Overhead Barbell Shrugs 15 reps @ 60/80/100lbs Never done these before so stuck with very comfaortable weights (fixed barbells) but will use squat rack next week and up the weight lots. Then Giant Set of Reverse Cable Flyes, Cable Upright Row and Seated Cable Shoulder Retractions (Shrugs) Some new stuff here and all went well but time was getting on so had to ruch through and only did 2 sets of each but did dropsets on them all. Once again, another very pleasing view in the mirror afterwards with a massive trap pump and I got a view of how hopefully my traps will look in 10 weeks time Then in the evening sat through a tortuous work 'do' where I ended up with sore cheeks from fake laughing/smiling at the bosses lame jokes/anecdotes all night. Only highlight was having a big fat steak and not having to pay for it.

Friday Nice start to the day - saw I had a flat tyre. Had a meeting at 10:00 so had to quickly change the tyre. I've got a jack but no wheel brace so went round all the neighbours and eventually found one that fitted, changed wheel, got to work in time. Then the clown who I was meeting said he could only give me 5 mins and left. Tossbag! Legs & Shoulders session I had a PT session on Weds night and as I was demonstrating a Goblet Squat I got to the bottom position and felt my back tighten up almost to the point of straining it again. I thought I'd be stuck there but managed to get up again without my client noticing. So...........no squats for me today. Instead: Leg Extensions Did 20 reps, 15 reps, 12 reps, 10 rest-pause reps. Then fell over (jk ) Next up was SLDL. Once again, stupid lower back problems meant instead of these I didL Leg Curl Machine It's been years since I used a machine for hamstrings. Did same reps as leg extensions. I can manage Leg Presses because my back is supported but the weight stack is relatively light so I did these isolations first to pre-fatigue. However, I had to back home as my wife was cooking a nice dinner so unfortunately these got dropped.... Dumbbell Shoulder Press 14 @ 65lbs 9 @ 70lbs 7 @ 70lbs More than last week but previously I've managed 12 @ 34kg and 8 @ 36kg (at my other gym) which is 75 & 80lbs so something not right here. Barbell Push Press 12 @ 135lbs 10 @ 145lbs 6 @ 165lbs 7 @ 165lbs (after a bit of a rest) 7 + 3 singles @ 135lbs I have some tendonitis in my right front delt I'm sure because I get the most extruciating soreness in it which means I can't lift or move my right arm for a few minutes. I've had this a bit before but not for maybe a year and not as bad as this. I'm fast running out of shoulder exercises. I can't believe how many injuries I'm getting too. All in all pretty poor session. Will do better on Sunday.

well looking forward to seeing the progress mate good luck Cheers for positive comment fellas. I find progress pics the best form of motivation for me. I remember a while back looking through my pics and in pic 1, I actually thought at the time I looked quite decent and I hadn't changed physically much in a year but it's only when you compare images that you get to see the big picture. I'll be putting my 12 week pics up irrespective of what they look like just to add further motivation to myself. The scales are up 3kg and I feel loads better already only 2 weeks in but the mirror is not always a good indicator of progress. My ever-tightening belt isn't good progress either

End of Week 2 Side effects: SD has definitely kicked in as lethargy was crippling me from Thursday onwards. Conversely, after having the sweetest sleeps from Monday onwards, now, even though I'm tired all the time, I can't sleep at all. Grrrrrr. Also feeling slightly 'down' and been snapping at the missus. Could be the AAS, could be because I'm skint until the end of the month. Strength: All lifts I did this week have gone up but I don't feel any different when lifting. Weight: Up almost 5kg since Day 1. Injuries: Lower back feeling better but still no squatting. Front delt burning pain on shoulder day. Strain on neck/upper trap. Terrible hamstring DOMs means I'm walking around the office like I've shat myself....

Sunday Scheduled in Back & Triceps session but had some family over and had a big lunch then went to the fun fair and by the time got home, had no time to train, so spent the rest of the evening looking at Golfs on Autotrader. Even though I'm temporarily 'financially embarrassed', the situation should be resolved in the next few weeks and as my crappy Nissan Primera is on it's last legs (currently 160,000 miles on it), and as I travel 100 miles round trip to work each day, buying a new car is very high up my list of things to do. My wife wants to redecorate the house and buy re-do a lot of the rooms so a battle of power shall ensue......

Monday Pull Day Usually do Back & Triceps together but I've got to train upper body 2 days running so will do Push & Pull days: Pull-Ups 9 / 7 / 7+1 / 6 / 5 negatives with 16kg Rack Deadlifts Back has been ok for the past few days so re-introduced these 10 @ 100kg 10 @ 120kg 10 @ 140kg 10 @ 170 kg (6 + 4 singles) Seated Cable Row superset with Seated Neutral Grip Pull-Down Between 15-12 reps on each set. Really concentrating on retracting shoulder blades on each rep to involve upper back as much as possible and lessen the use of the biceps Pretty empty in the gym except for some hobbit-like woman outlifting her boyfriend/son. Skinny runt kept eyeballing me then when I'd finished deadlifts he whacked 140kg on and pulled a few reps. No technique whatsoever and bent his knees inwards so they were touching so he could get some leverage on the bar. Then there were 2 kids who were determined to get in my way on every exercise. Empty gym but they did their lat raises in front of the mirror when I was deadlifting. After resting inbetween sets on the cable I was about to sit down when one of the cheeky imps beat me to it and started to take off the handle and change the weight. It wasn't as if they had any kind of routine or structure so a few choice words sent them scurryng off but in their haste he dropped the bar, couldn't get the pin back in the weight stack and kicked my water bottle over. Anyhoo. Seated Dumbbell Curls Normally I'd do these on chest day so my biceps would be quite fresh so only managed 3 x 10 @ 16kg Reverse Barbell Curls Ditto above so managed 2 x 12 @ 30kg

Tuesday Push Day Dumbbell Chest Press 13 @ 90lbs 9 @ 95lbs 7 @ 95lbs 6 @ 95lbs Strength actually feels like it's gone down since last week. Then I hear from my training partner that at uni he pressed the 55kg for 5 reps. And he's natural! When does this damn Test kick in?? Dips 12 @ 50lbs 9 @ 55lbs 8 @ 55lbs 8 @ 55lbs 10 @ BW (rest pause at 6 and 8 reps) Less weight than last week. Could be because I did them straight after Chest Press where normally I'd do curls inbetween. Could be because I trained yesterday. Could be because my shoulder started burning again like on shoulders day. Could be I'm just a pu$$y??? Cable Crossovers superset with Press-Ups Same wight as last week but did 15 reps, short rest then 6 reps so dropped weight for final set and did 10. Managed 12 press-ups in a row then 2 more sets of 12 with rest pause to get me there. Triceps Push-Down 12 / 10 / 10 E-Z Skullcrusher Arms fried by now so really struggling. 10 @ bar+30lbs 8 @ bar+40lbs 6 + 5 negatives @ bar+40lbs Alright session but improved midway through when my mp3 player played Bing Bang from the Lazytown CD. I felt it was a nice transition from some hardcore NoFx punk to a kids tune

I'm officially the heaviest I have ever been. Previous record was 100.0kg on an SD cycle and was for one day then the weight started going back down again. Last night I was 100.2kg I think the only bodypart that has increased in size though is my waist but I shall find out at my measurement session on Sunday.

Friday Normally finish at 4pm on a Friday. Today finished at 7:30 so didn't get a chance to get to the gym Not happy Saturday Don't usually train on a Saturday but had to make up for not going yesterday, Very poor session. Legs & Shoulders Shoulder Bumbbell Press 30kg x 10 32kg x 10 34kg x 8 34kg x 8 Leg Extension Sets of 15 reps until whole stack used then 8 reps with a set of 15 reps at half the stack to finish. Leg Curl Couldn't get on with this machine at all. Never used it before. Never using it again. Military Press 60kg - 10, 8 + 2 push press, 7 + 3 push press Normally end up with burning pain in my fight anterior delt doing push presses. Changed to Military Press and shoulder was fine. Had a few push presses at the end of the set to make 10 reps didn't hurt shoulders so will do these from here on in. That was all. So my legs session consisted of about 7 sets of leg extensions and that's it. Still unable to Squat because lower back not great. Today I trained at my local gym rather than my work one and it's not as well equipped. Was going to watch the England v Estonia 1st half at the gym but missed Shaun Wright-Phillips goal when I was puttting my bag in a locker and missed the other 2 goals when I left to go for a slash..... Watched the 2nd half at home and it was so dull I fell asleep on the sofa.

SUNDAY Yesterday, diet wise things weren't great. My diet consisted of boiled eggs and weetabix (separately!!) and not a huge amount of them. I have completely run out of money until I get paid on Thursday so had to rely on whatever food I've got in the house. Fortunately I have a lot of milk and eggs so I won't starve Back & Triceps Pull-Ups (bodyweight) these were supersetted with Rack Deadlifts 9 / 9 / 8 +1 / 6 + 6 negatives with 20kg These are increasing nicely and even though my weight is increasingly accordingly, the reps are still going up. My big aim with pull-ups has been to manage 3 x 10 with no rest-pausing or stopping at all. I'm getting close Rack Deadlifts Wanted to start with 130kg (after my warm-up) but someone looked they they were going to take the remaining two 20's so I stuck them on so I had 3 plates a side and thought maybe I'd started too high: 12 @ 140kg - felt very easy 10 @ 170kg - felt just as easy as 140 10 @ 190kg - surprising myself with how easy they were coming up. Aimed for 8 but kept going because they felt good. 1 @ 210kg - struggled to get the first rep out then felt my back might not enjoy this treatment as it's still not better so stopped. Very happy with that though. Triceps Push-downs 3 x 8-12 @ 45kg with a set of 15 at 25kg at the end Seated Cable Row 15/15/12 @ 47.5kg / 54kg / 60kg supersetted with Seated Neutral grip Pull-Down 10 / 10 / 8 + 2 @ 55kg / 55kg / 60kg E-Z Skullcrushers 12 @ 32.5kg 10 @ 35kg 6 + 6 negatives at 35kg Felt very energized at the end of this. Past couple of sessions have been a bit weak so I'm glad to get things back on track again.

End of Week 3 Side effects: Still tired. Face looking a little puffy but no more than previous SD cycles. A few extra spots on my face but this could be attributed to normal hormonal changes. My beard seems to grow a little bit quicker than normal. Strength: Beginning of the week I was feeling weak as fcuk. On Sunday I felt like there were no limits to my strength (except for 210kg as I found out ) Still not pressing as much as I have done previously (chest & shoulder) but Pull-Ups are increasing, I purposely chose exercises where possible that I hadn't done for a while or had rep ranges different to previously so I could avoid this constant comparision because it's only beneficial if the weights are going up. If they don't then de-motivation will set in very quickly. Weight: 3 weeks in and I've plateauted already. Peaked at 100.2kg, the heaviest I've ever been. Dipped back under 100kg, went back up to 100.2 then has been under 100kg ever since. I swear my metabolism works like a thermostat and when my weight gets above 100kg my metabolism goes into turbo mode and burns calories quicker than I consume them. I'm contantly hot which I see as a sign of thermogenesis (sp). If I ended up burning away excess BF then it would be no problem but my waist isn't going down at all Injuries: Same old same old. Lower back still not great. Strangely it's fine when I train but bad when I sit down. And when you consider I spend up to 10 hours sitting down and only one hour training a day, that's not a good combination.

Monday What a tortuous day. Had a big all day session with about 60 people where I had to do a short presentation. I hate these sort of things. From standing around talking to work colleagues, to standing up in front of them and delivering a presentation, to having my whole routine ruined, to spending a whole day essentially team-building. Just so pointless Day started off badly by me having a lot of the presentation materials in my car but all the people requiring said presentation materials were at the venue and needed them to prepare the room. Cue a lot of angry phonecalls from all these angry people. So I turn up at the venue already a little stressed and had to lug a massive box up 2 flights of stairs whilst carrying a runcksack on my back and in my suit. As I'm on an AAS cycle I'm constantly hot anyway so I enter the room with sweat dripping off my head. Cue funny looks from the angry people. My temperature eventually subsides but then I spend the next 30 mins developing a mild panic attack in advance of my little presentation. Heart racing, temperature beginning to rise again, nervous facial tic starts followed by shaky hands. Delivered my presentation then sat down and all back to normal. Except it's now 11:30 and I haven't eaten since 07:30 and I haven't taken my SD caps or any of the ancillary supps. Long story short, waste of a day, diet sh1t, not a training day so just came home and monged.

Tuesday Chest & Biceps Favourite day of the week Begin preparation for my session at 5:15 with my final work meal of the day, then prepared all my supps ready for the session consisting of and in no particular order: RRY, CoQ10, Rampage, No-Xplode, SD, EFAs. Hit the gym feeling amped up and it all went downhill after that.......... Dumbbell Chest Press 13 @ 90lbs 10 @ 95lbs 7 @ 100lbs 4 @ 100lbs Still not actually feeling any stronger each week but weight/reps have been increasing each session E-Z Preacher Curl 12 @ bar +50lb 10 @ +60lb Finished set, bent down to pick water bottle up <TWANG> back went again. Same place. Excrutiating pain radiating from (R) hand side lower back and feeling it in my leg now too. Walked around for a bit then carried on with curls: 8 @ +65lb 6 @ +65lb Dips 13 @ 55lb 10 @ 65lb 8 @ 70lb 8 (R.P) @ 75lb 12 (R.P) @ BW Back fine when exercising, painful when bending down. Reverse Curl 12 / 9+1 / 8+1 @ 80lb 15 @ 50lb Cable Crossover superset with Press-Ups More reps than last week with the next weight up. Almost managed 3 x 12 press-ups but had to rest pause on sets 2 & 3 Good weights session. Bad injury session. Hobbled down to the changing room. Hobbled to my car. Drove home in a very uncomfortable position. Got home, came straight in and strapped a gel ice pack to my lower back then settled down on my bed with a book (Mo Hayder - The Treatment). Awesome story and I got so involved with it I forgot about the backpain or the ice pack until about 1½ hours later when I sat up and removed it. My back was naturally freezing cold, numb, but also felt like it had frozen solid. It felt like where the ice pack had been there now was a slab of ice which was my skin. Showed the wife and she had a chuckle at me (ha ha you've frozen your back) then said heat it up (defrost it) with a water bottle. Duly did but 30 mins later back still solid and now I'm panicking. This is how it looked: Phoned NHS Direct at about 11pm and they could have a doctor call me in 4 hours time. I could be dead by then or at the very least had frostbite set in......!!!! So I phoned the out of hours doctor and when they eventually called back, he said my back was solid like that probably because the muscle was in spasm. He suggested a warm bath, which I duly took. Good opportunity to read some more of this book. After about 45 mins got out and back still "frozen" but could move around a little bit. So went to bed.

Wednesday Had the best sleep in ages last night. Strange really considered my back was knackered and possibly wouldn't last the night before turning black and dropping off. Slid out of bed then went to check on progress. Sh1t. It looks bad: Big b@stard blisters. I wasn't expecting that. So I've burnt it somehow from the ice. Yikes. Drove round to the Minor Injuries clinic in town at 8am and saw a nurse almost immediately. She said it was fairly common what I had done but was the worst case she seen!!! So she drained the fluid out of the nastiest blisters and dressed it. Have now spent the best part of half a day showing people the pictures on my phone, posting on MT and occasionally mopping up some of the fluid that has begun leaking out of my back. I don't want to see how it looks tomorrow evening when I get the dressing changed. But I'll take pictures and post them up anyway

Not popped in here before but looks like a great journal. ...complete with frostbite. That's a first If you ever meet Ranulph Ffiennes you'll be able to scoff at his tales of losing toes and fingers in the Arctic and show him how you damn near froze your own @rse off

The lifestyle of a weight trainer CAN get a bit monotonous so I thought I'd liven things up with a liberal dose of back pain and frostbite. My journal started about a week after a severe bout of food poisoning so you'll see it not all lifting weights and eating......
