This will be my 4th cycle using SD. Previous ones have been 2 x SD only and an SD plus transdermal S1+.

Overall weight gain up to the point of PCT has been around 17lbs for the first cycle (dropped down to around 8lbs after PCT) to around a 12lb gain falling to around 5lb gain after PCT on the 3rd cycle. I think I built up a level of tolerance to SD so needed higher doses to get the same effect.

Minimal fat gain, mostly water gain, which quickly dropped at the end of each cycle but great strength gains whilist on and nice gains overall.

The 3rd pic in my signature is right at the end of an SD cycle (incl PCT) so you can get an ideaa of how much bloat/fat I was carrying.

what sort of sides did you get from your first cycle?

sorry to ask loads of questions still but just out of interest you say after the full cycle you had 5lb of pure lean muscle gain??

Side Effects:
Major one is lethargy. Really heavy eyes, really sleepy during the day but still not able to sleep particularly well at night.

The place I noticed the most prominent bloating was in my face and on one occasion I thought I looked like a tennis ball (I had a crew cut at the time) and my face had almost swelled up. It was back to normal by th eend of the day though. The rest of my body just felt thicker and fuller, which again, was not increased muscularity but some bloat because it went down in size after PCT. For example, my arms were 17" and 17.5" at the end of the cycle (priot to training) but both went to under 17" after PCT.

Weight Gain
I'd say that figure of 5lb FFM (Fat Free Mass) gain is pretty accurate but I've got a more detailed log at home with more stats which I'll look up when I get home and stick up some more accurate figures if you like.

Hi mate,

Looking really good in those photos.

Was just wondering, how long did it take you to get from the first pic to the second? Months of training? Years?

What strategy did you follow? Cutting and building from a lean base?

My aim is get to the point you're at in the second photo.

Cheers.

The pics were all taken approx a year apart and usually at the end of a specific routine.

Pic 1 was at the end of a 12 week 5x5 routine which, while I was getting stronger throughout, I was also getting a lot fatter, but I didn't realise it until I saw the pics.

Pic 2 was at the end of a 6 week 'conditioning' phase which was a non-BBing style routine aimed to give my body a break and incorporate more functional, full-body movements rather than traditional BBing exercises, and the sets and reps differed too.
An example session would be:

  • Overhead Squat
  • Clean & Press
  • Cable Lunge with 1 arm pushing and 1 arm pulling
  • Medicine Ball Press-Ups
  • Clock Barbell Lunges
  • Cable Squat to Row

All 2 sets of 10-15 reps.

Pic 3 was at the end of a 4 week SD cycle and a more traditional 4 day split (Chest & Bi, Leg & Shoulders, Chest & Bi, Back & Tri)

In between the pics I trialled a myriad of different routines and had a break of around 3 months. At no point did I alter my diet, but admittedly I was a little clueless around that area.

The method for getting very lean in Pic 2 probably goes against everything touted for a cutting routine but I have always found full-body routines good for dropping bodyfat and maintaining lean tissue, and by still working with a weight no lighter than my absolute 15RM I'm still inducing a little hypertrophy.
At this point in time I was working in the fitness industry and I trained several people using a similar approach and after 6 weeks they ALL lost BF and maintained or increased lean tissue, measured using calipers.

However, I did attempt a traditional cut back June/July time and altered diet and increased CV but didn't give it long enough to see if it worked for me.
I'll be trying a combination of the two approaches around March time in preparation for next summer!

OJay - some more detailed stats from my last cycle:

30 April - 95.4kg - began SD (10mg)
7 May - 97.2kg - increased dose (20mg)
14 May - 98.8kg - increased dose(30mg)
23 May - 100.2kg - increased dose (40mg)
4 June - 99.4kg - began PCT (Nolva and Rebound-XT)
11 June - 99.8kg - Week 2 PCT
18 June - 98.8kg - Week 3 PCT
24 June - 97.4kg - last day of the whole cycle

So gained overall 2.2kg / 4.8lbs

Didn't do any BF testing or bodypart measuring except for my waist which was 95cm on Day 1 and 94cm on Day 49.

That's all I could dig up.

It's a shame because I always seem to injure myself IN the gym but not actually when I'm doing an exercise, e.g. bending over, putting weights down.

There's always a niggling injury somewhere but nothing yet that's stopped me completely training. I just have to work round whatever hurts.

Certainly not a new technique I'm trying!!!

Friday

I normally train Thursday and Friday. Missed Thursday session due to back problems and today had to come straight home after work to see the nurse for dressing replacing so had to train at my local gym

Bent-Over Row
15 @ 70kg
12 @ 80kg
10 @ 90kg
8 @ 100kg
15 @ 60kg

Dumbbell Shoulder Press
12 @ 32kg
10 @ 34kg
7 @ 36kg
5 @ 36kg then straight away followed by
12 @ 22kg

I think that's a PB with 36kg so finally strength starting to pick up. Shouldn't have done the last set with 22kg because just made my front delt ache.

Seated Dumbbell Shrugs
3 sets with 36kg - 60 secs slow, 45 secs fast, 45 secs left arm only

Seated Lateral Raise
3 sets with 9/10kg - light weight baby

1-Arm Dumbbell Row - wide grip
3 x 12 - 34, 36, 38kg

Spent ages in there as there were a few people I hadn't seen for a while and wanted to chat. Managed to still get home in time for Ugly Betty....

Some douchebag asked me what I was taking. First time someone's asked me outright and I always promised I'd never lie about it but he's an idiot and has been training for the past 3 years and achieved nothing so me telling him about the AAS would only have put my success/his failure down to the drugs rather than the hard work.

So I stuttered and mumbled something about taking a pinch of hard work with a liberal helping of dedication and a whole load of elbow grease 4x a week plus lots of food and rest. Seemed to placate him and I imagine he went home to google where to get said supps from........

It's Saturday now.
Shall I train legs??
Can I train legs??

If you could do me a deal on lucky heather, a rabbit's foot, a horseshoe and a vial with the tears of a fairy I might be interested.
Just a week injury free would suffice

Saturday

Leg session.
Shouldn't have even bothered going to the gym...

Leg Press - hurts to put pressure on my lower back even when dropping the weight and doing one legged leg press.
Squats/Lunges/Step-Ups - anything that involves any decent amount of flexion at the hip causes the dressing to be pulled off. No no for all of these.
Leg Curl - as mentioned earlier, machine is so cack it presses into my knees on full flexion at the knee, so I can do partials or preferably, none at all.
Leg Extension - yes, it's fine. So another 8 sets on here gradually working up to the whole stack for as many reps as I could manage then back down the stack again adding reps
Lying Cable Leg Curls - thought this one up whilst doing leg extensions. Lie face down in front of the cable machine, put the fluffy girly strap onto my ankle and perform leg curls. Perfect. Did get some funny looks so I gave some funny looks back. May add these in as they seemed to work very well.

So crappy leg session once again but hopefully the last one this bad *rubs twig of lucky heather*

Oh and have you ever tried lying leg curls with DB's. Seeing as you seem to be a bit limited at the mo the may be worth a go. Then there's lying ham extensions but I'm not too sure how these will affect your back...then again neither will you until you have a bash i suppose!

How pants not to be able to train legs properly!

Sunday

Back & Triceps

Rack Deadlift
12 @ 140kg
12 @ 160kg
12 @ 180kg
Didn't want to push it too much and technique started to change from a standard deadlift to a more SLDL as when I bent my knees too much I could feel the dressing on my back starting to rip off and rather than continue I felt like I'd 'bank' the 3 lifts I'd done rather than do another and fcuk myself up again.

200kg for at least 6 next week is the aim.

Pull-Ups
9 / 9 / 7 / 6 / 6 (chin-ups) / 4 negatives with 22kg / 4 negatives with BW only

Tricep Push-Down - big 'V' shaped handle
12 / 10 / 8+2 @ 45kg

Seated Cable Row
15 @ 60kg
15 @ 64kg
12 @ 70kg

supersetted with Neutral Grip Pull-Down
12 / 12 / 10 @ 60kg
15 @ 35kg straight after

E-Z Skullcrusher
12 @ bar + 32.5kg
11 @ bar + 35kg
9 @ bar + 35kg then 6 slow negatives same weight straight after

A whole session with no injuries.

End of Week 4

Upped SD dose to 40mg per day for last 3 days.

Side effects: Lethargy all but gone.No noticable bloat. Traps still growing like weeds. A few more spots on my upper back and shoulders. Libido as per normal.

Strength: Still increasing but nothing to write home about. Although I am increasing weights when able, I'm trying not to at the detriment of form or reps. I'm trying to do at least 6 reps on every set so will increase weight so long as I can still get sufficient reps out

Weight: I'm now officially 1 stone heavier than Day 1. I was a fraction under 15 to begin with and I'm now a fraction under 16.
16 stone = 101.8kg. I am 101.6kg. Oh so close. Hopefully will hit the magically 16 stone benchmark next week then it's full steam ahead to 17 stone.

Injuries: Back still burned. Blistering all finished so now it's at that scabby stage where all I want to do is stratch it. Every 2 days I get the dressing changed and it feels so nice when there's nothing covering it. Lower back still not great so as soon as I get the all clear from the nurse that the burn has healed suficiently to touch, I'll be booking myself in from some massage treatment. Probably not for another 10-14 days yet though.

Monday

(I'm actually writing this on Thursday but it's been so busy this week I haven't had time to do any MT surfing or journal updating. I do have some work to do today but that can wait....)

Bad day in terms of eating. Had back-to-back meetings from 09:00 until 12:00 so managed breakfast at 07:30, shake at 09:00 then chicken & veg at 12:15. Meetings started again at 13:00 until 17:00 so had a bag of crisps and a Twirl and that was it until 17:15 when I had a pot of chicken & pasta. Missed out on two meals at work so had loads when I got home to make up for it.

Did my jab tonight and fortunately I'd done lots of pre-reading about things that can go wrong because I hit a nerve on the way in. It felt like an electic shock and I whipped the needle out instinctively. If I hadn't done any researching beforehand I'd probably have sh1t myself that something major was wrong and been worried about doing any more jabs. As it was, I changed the needle and reinjected in another area. It was such a strange feeling though.

Tuesday

Chest & Biceps

Dumbbell Chest Press
My training partner texted me from uni to say he managed 8 reps with the 45's. He's gradually been catching up strength-wise and then overtook me on dumbbell pressing so I knew what my target today was.

11 @ 100lbs (45½kg)
9 @ 100lbs
10 @ 90lbs
9 @ 90lbs

supersetted with Seated Dumbbell Curls
12 @ 30lbs
11 @ 35lbs
8 @ 40lbs
10 @ 30lbs

Dips
12 @ 60lbs
12 @ 65lbs
11 @ 70lbs
9 @ 75lbs quickly followed by 8/3/2 @ bodyweight

supersetted with Cable Curls
15 @ 6
12 @ 10
10 @ 12
15 @ 6

Cable Crossover
3 x 8-12 @ 6½

Press-Ups with feet on a step
12 / 10+2 / 8+3+1

I take a No-Xplode type drink before training as I received it a long while ago for free with a bulk order of supps and as noone wanted to buy it on eBay I''ve decided to use it. I get an enormous pump but I'm not sure if this has any benefits aside from faster transportation of nutrients round the body. It means I have to reduce the ROM on curls because I can't fully flex my arm they're so pumped.
Good for the ego though I guess....

Another decent session. I managed to pick weights up, put them back down, bend down to pick my water bottle up, all without straining any muscles or burning myself!!!

Well, my front right delt was causing me a bit of grief but on going by recent sessions this was up there with the best

Wednesday

Up at 05:00 for long drive to Heathrow for flight to Dusseldorf. This meant another day of poor diet.
I'm not particularly hungry at 7am so at 5am I was positively full up. Managed a bowl of weetabix then filled my shaker bottle with 4 scoops of protein and 2 scoops of N-Large.

Got to the airport and got through security then bought a bottle of water and filled the shaker up. If I'd have had it ready mixed, I wouldn't have been able to take it through security. Fell aslepp on the plane so missed my very small ham roll. Oh well
The shake lasted me until 10am.
Lunch in the German office then tea and biscuits for the rest of the afternoon until the return flight which was delayed by an hour so a beer in the airport and I fell asleep and this time missed my small cheese roll. Oh well

Zoomed home and had a big steak and chips waiting for me and also made it home in time for Hereos

Working really does get in the way of the BBing lifestyle.

Unless you have complete regularity and routine in your week and sufficient time, it's damn near impossible to maintain the strict diet and quantities of meals required to make remarkable gains.
This is why I congratulate ANYONE hwo has invested time and effort and built a decent physqiue, assisted or otherwise, because I know just how damn hard it is to get above and beyond average.
