Can someone tell me the name of the pills you can buy in chemists or off-licenses which are meant to lessen hangovers? Cheers

I don't think they work, try taking some taurine and milk thistle instead before you go out drinking

I watched a short documentary a few years ago that was based on hangover cures. They went through all the old remedies and some of the new pills that you can get over the counter. To no surprise non of them seemed to make a difference. The only thing that made a hangover more bearable was drinking pleanty of water in between drink and before going to bed. Then they asked this doctor if there was anything that could be done in the morning to cure a hangover, ans yes there is a cure. I have forgotten all the drugs that were used. First off you go and have a blood tranfusion Then you are on a kidney dialises Injection of potasium + others Go on a drip for dehydration There were more steps involed but that should cure you.

I find plenty of water before going to bed, food before bed and when you wake up will sort you out nicely. I find fry ups really help in the mornings!

Im sure you need to take 2 evry 2nd or third drink according to the instructions.. if you remember to do that then your not drunk enough anyway.... same applies to drinking loads of water before bed.

A guy who I know gets ratted Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights without fail, he swears by a good old fry up of eggs, bacon, beans, tomatoes and fried bread. He's back on the beer when he's had a fry up.

I used to swear by a half bottle of vodka. Come to think of it, during the 'dark days' I used to swear by anything that'd get me hammered again as soon as poss.

I think the over the counter hangover cure you are looking for is called RESOLVE, its basically paracetamol and an anti acid drink, tastes like crap but cures a headache. Doesnt work any wonders though, you'll still feel like crap.

I find the age old remedies work. Eating a big meal before going drinking (pasta seems to work best for me). Not mixing drinks too much (wine and beer for example). Eating something before bed. Pint of water before bed. Fry up the next day. Isn't there some truth in the fact that beer is a diuretic and that you pee out a lot of salt i.e. hence why you feel better after a fry up the next day. Also heard that once you've been peeing all night your brain has less of a natural cushion?! Best of all is to drink slowly and in moderation though.

There is a drug that when injected into rats, stops them being drunk in a matter of minutes. Not sure about hungover though. Or toxicity. Or effect on humans. I'd try it though lol.
