thought I'd be clever and double everything up to save time cooking two batches for the week. They are in the oven now, look cooked around the edges but still squidgy in the middle, oooops. will leave them in ten more minutes see what happens.

just pulled these bad boys out of the oven to cool. they are about 2 inches thick and taste great, i divided it into twelve and each bar is nice and fat. the centre ones are a little squidgy in the middle but I have a suspicion that they will be the best tasting one

right, i just made my first batch of these, made 8.

I put a bit too much milk in though, so the texture actually came out more like a peanut butter cake, which is quite nice actually!

thanks for the recipe, will be having one of these a day to hit my 3pm meal time lol!

Been meaning to try these for a while. Just cooked up a batch of the chocolate version and they look great.

Would like to try Iopeners banana version as well.

I do the same, double up on everythin, make enough for the week, however i dont cook them for as long as the original one says, i find 10 minutes is sweet, leaves the middles nice an chewy not dead firm, v.nice

My bars are currently in the oven

Used

100g oats
100g unflavoured whey
100g peanut butter
75g honey
about 10 or 12g cocoa

The batter looked good and the spoon tasted great so looking forward to trying them. Got a fan assited oven so gonna check em once they've been in 10 mins.

EDIT: About half cup full of water too.

Ive made these 5-6 times now and I always get the same result, they are really dry at the edges and really liquid in the middle. I tried a lower temp adn longer cooking time but the same result, just dries the edges out more. I use a tray thats about an inch deep and they come out just a bit thinner than that.

Any ideas??

Maybe too much water or milk? Mine are dry all the way through just softer inside (and slightly more moist) than the outside. Very nice.

Wow ! I just made the chocolate version of this.

I split the recipe in half to make 2 bars, I undercooked them a little as they were only just firm on the outside and really gooey in the middle. Tried 1 of them straight out of oven and it was the nicest thing I have ever tasted it was like a gooey choco brownie and was the perfect sweetness and consistency, I am going to let the other one cool and taste it later to see what they are like cold and rested. Going to have these every day !

Try diff more or less milk i just adjust accordingly, as much milk as needed to soak it all up an give me a guey chocolatey mix, i the only 'hard' bit on the whole batch is around the edge of the tray but i use one about 16x9inch so theres plenty of nice soft chewy stuff once you get about half inch into the mix

surely the oats would have a profound effect on insulin too?

Anyway use some splenda tablets dissolved in water to get the sweetness or use some flavoured whey

Think of training as a recipe. An omelet tastes better if there's heavy cream in it. But if you put eight ounces of heavy cream in the omelet, then it's not an omelet anymore — it's something else.

Ok used:
125g ultra fine scottish oats
100g whey
100g honey
100g peanut butter crunchy
20g cocoa powder
about 150ml milk...added a bit more when it was getting hard to stir

taste not bad, wouldnt mind a bit sweeter/more chocolate, oat taste is a bit overpowering
the MAIN problem is theyre SO dry. Like ridiculously dry....anyone else had this problem?
what did you do not to make them so dry? if you added and ingredient or whatever can you tell me exactly when and how much (not great at cooking)

great recipe overall, thanks
james.
