Eating clean... - 09 November 2007 23:30
How many of you eat a good, clean diet almsot flawlessly?

What motivates you?

What makes you say 'no' when your mates are eating pizza and drinking beer?

I want to eat flawlessly, but I'm struggling at the moment, so any suggestions are welcome

(I know, allow for cheats etc...)

RE: Eating clean... - 09 November 2007 23:40
I eat pretty damn clean in my opinion , i dont give in to snacks or chocolate ever really. Had a KFC the other day and that was the 1st time i had fast food in about a year. I dont find it hard at all really, i used to snack and eats crips and chocolate everyday, then when i started training i just stopped there and then.

EDIT to answer you Q's more accurately;

What motivates me, i dont need the motivation, i dont have the urges to eat crap, or have cheat meals. A cheat meal for me would be having a small amount of cheese and bacon sauce with my pasta.

When my mates are eating junk, ive either recently eaten so aint hungry, or have a pack lunch with me.

I dont ever cheat and honestly I dont think that should be your goal. The way to never cheat is to be overly neurotic and that takes away from other pleasant things. Just put a little more effort and live happily

Depends - bulking and its basically see food and eat it aslong as i get my macros in for the day.

Cutting is strick strick strick, and have to force myself into that mind set.

When cutting- yes i do
When bulking- not so much

What motivates you?
Once the results start to come, they outweigh the 'positives' of eating food full of crap

What makes you say 'no' when your mates are eating pizza and drinking beer?
When cutting i tend to socialise a little less, particularly in situations wher ei know i'd be expected to stuff my face, it's a trade-off but not a massively difficult one if you want to see good results

I want to eat flawlessly, but I'm struggling at the moment, so any suggestions are welcome
Not really as i know how hard it is and the only person who can do it for you is yourself... just be strong and once you're in the zone i find it becomes second nature, cutting is definitely a state of mind

RE: Eating clean... - 10 November 2007 02:51
ill be honest, when i was in a deficit i was very strict and possibly verging on obsessive. friends got worried, and one said i was aiming for anarexia. just to prove her wrong i went to an all you can eat buffet and cleaned 5 full plates. my dad was worried and said i was too concerned with times and eating the exact thing, but i just said it was dedication. i was strict because id finally reached my goal - to be slim. i was always obese, with a max weight of about 19 stone and a 50" waist (**** you not) and it was my dream to be slim, i reached it. i was proud, but i felt i had to do it all or nothing style.

well now im trying to clean bulk, ill admit im not so strict, but mainly because i now know how easy it is to lose fat. i have infront of me a kfc and a whey shake!

by not so strict, i mean i do eat every meal as i should (if its not possible i find a clean alternative) but i will have the odd piece of chocolate or a sweet is offered. i dont eat big macs every other da

cutting is difficult, i dont give a **** what anyone says. id like to see someone go 3 months and every sunday all theyve got ahead of them is 6 meals of chicken salad.

what a strange post

so you are saying dont cheat and force yourself not to and as a result you wont?

anyway

back to the original question....

what is cheating

is it enjoying a 500 calorie ice cream twice a week when people ingest 80g of dextrose everytime they train yet dont see that as a cheat

eat as you wish to be where you want to be in terms of physical and mental well being

or get creative

loads of things you can make up in advance that are clean that you can have as treats mate

remove the temptations as well. Something i like to make up as nice treat now and then is grape nuts, peanut butter, cocoa powder with sweetener and some skim milk powder. Its like a crunchy peanut butter cup style bar

i hardly ever eat junk and always eat to support my goals.I find that when i do have a junk food day i end up craving more junkfood. So i stay way totally from junk and eat balanced food that is good for me.When you eat junk food you only feel good for two minutes while your eating it,but after you feel like **** for putting that poison in your body.Just remember nothing tastes as good as looking good feels.

Bump as its even more relevant now I'm trying to lose some bodyfat.

I can't seem to stop myself eating junk at times I know I don't need to! Is it just simply self-control!?

Any tips are welcome!

Do you like KFC mate ?

If so here`s a little thing I do at the moment, slice a chicken breast in half, mix an egg with some spices, coat the chicken then rub it in wholemeal breadcrumbs and bake in the oven.

I then just add a little Reggae Reggae sauce with some reduced sugar/salt Ketchup, dip and eat, can add some salad/veg if you want.

i probably eat outside the box once a week.
the clean things i eat are enjoyable though so i dont 'need' to taste other things.
everyday i eat 500g yoghurt blended with fruit. pretty damn tasty

Depends what you class as clean.

I never eat what I'd call 100% clean, there's no real need to accept for psychological reasons.

When I want to eat crap I give my remaining chubby bits (currently handles) a bit of a squeeze - it normally fills me with enough self lothing to resist

IMO - Yes.
I have to have self control all the time or else I would end up back as I was in my 'before' pics.

Last night I had a 1,000 calorie pizza. The first pizza I have had this year. It was bloody lovely...but the feelings of guilt the next day follow me around and dog my thoughts. It's why i eat cleanly pretty much all the time now.

How easily do you succumb to temptation? I avoid the chocolate aisles in supermarkets as, if I see chocolate, I want to eat it. When the Lindor ad comes on the telly, I shut my eyes and say out loud "I'm not listening, I'm not listening." until the ad has finished (I have to take an occasional peek to see when it's finished). Just as well I live on my own! I love to eat and I could so easily stuff myself full of junk, but I have to practise sef-control for the sake of my health. That said, eating junk once a week isn't going to kill you.

you have to remember its not the end of the world. i was losing weight and eating pizza every now and again.

one thing doesnt determine what happens to you. i used to be massively overweight also and seem to put weight on quick even eating relatively little.

i think eating clean comes natural after so long. ive only been doing it nearly 9 months but it seems to have reprogrammed me.

I get the same feelings if i were to eat something like that.

Currently i have no desire to stray away from my clean eating - on a bulk i'm more likely to be a little more liberal with my food choices, but ultimately the desire to eat 'dirty' food is outweighed by the guilt following it.
