I'll be in a bar later mate after going for a swim but it'll be nothing stronger than a diet coke for me.

Nothing major to report today just a swim and a sauna to relax the muscles, about 30 lenghs or so.
Weight is about 90ish kg now, eating pretty much what I like, some good some bad.

Hi mate. How often do you go swimming per week? It is something I am going to start doing. Cheers

Probably 2 times a week at the moment mate but it will be more in the Summer.
It's good because we normally go as a family like we did today, kills several birds with one stone.

Tonights workout

Push

Incline BBBP 1 x 10 bar only, 1 x 5 60 kg, 1 x 5 80 kg, 5 x 5 90 kg
Seated OH Press Machine 1 x 5 40 kg, 5 x 5 55 kg
Tricep Dips 5 x 5 BW + 22 kg

Felt for the first time since finishing cutting that my strength was really starting to come back
Nothing left in the tank but all done for 5 x 5 with all weights increased on previous workout
Very happy with the 5 x 5 at 90 kg for inclines, really didn't think that was on the cards tonight

Thanks lads, very much appreciated.
It was hard work but well worth it and I learned a lot about myself from it, having never done anything like that before.
Very good if you need something to give you focus with your dieting for those of us who don't compete.

Agree with what youre saying, i was talking to a mate who,s taken a year out from competing and he said its hard for him to keep focused at the moment as he has no clear cut goals to focus on, im finding it hard as well in that im 9 weeks into this cut and my heads playing games with me and i feel that when i look in the mirror i dont see any difference and more so with any new photos that are taken so theres a bit of me at times feels like chucking the whole thing when all i think i see is Mr Blobby.

That happened to me all the way through Colin, fat days, flat days, towards the end skinny days.
I was taking pictures each month but it wasn't until I compared them from the first to the last that I really saw the difference.
I'm still looking for some from last May/June time, there's a very big difference from then to now.

Thanks mate.
When the shape up finished I switched to a 5 x 5 Push, Pull, Legs to concentrate on strength and size for a little bit, enjoying it so far.
Each session will last only about 45 - 50 minutes and that's with plenty of rest between sets.

Tonights training

Pull

Deads 1 x 10 bar only, 1 x 5 60 kg, 1 x 5 100 kg, 3 x 5 130 kg, 1 x 4 130 kg, 1 x 5 130 kg
Bent Over BB Rows 1 x 5 60 kg, 5 x 5 85 kg
WG Chins 5 x 5 BW + 4 kg
EZ Bar Curls 1 x 5 30 kg, 5 x 5 47.5 kg

Not great
Grip started to go on 3rd set of deads and gave up on 4th rep of 4th set, switched from overhand to alternate grip to complete the last set, will probably use a mix of both going forward, have to be careful with bicep tendons though - quite sore afterwards, not used to alternate grip
Rows ok, up to 90 kg next week
Chins were poor, going on form it was more like 4,3,2,2,2 but will stick with the 4 kg, last set particularly poor form, may have injured left shoulder blade, see what the morning brings
Curls ok, very hard but very strict, up to 50 kg next week

50kg Curls? - wow, that's heavy!

Sore Bicep tendons and injured shoulder blade? - me too! - I feel your pain

Personally, I've given up on the heavy Deads - I think I'm just a bit too fragile...

Good session

Sam

I'm very much at my limit now Sam and expect to fail 5 x 5 on pretty much everything from now on, but then I suppose that's the mindset that's needed because as soon as I get 5 x 5 it's time to move on, even if only in small amounts.
Curls were good at 47.5 I think 50 could be the failure point though, we'll see.

Swimming today (about 30 lengths) and sauna.
No signs of any injury apart from left bicep tendon a bit niggly.
Very good doms all across my upper back and traps.

Tonights workout

Legs

Squats (Smith Machine) 1 x 5 bar only, 1 x 5 40 kg, 1 x 5 80 kg, 5 x 5 105 kg (weights on bar)
SLDL 1 x 5 60 kg, 1 x 5 100 kg, 5 x 5 105 kg
Rope Crunches 5 x 12 30 kg

Squats were hard, a to g as always but a little 'backy' on some reps, rested a while between sets as always but also had to pause between reps on some sets.
Up to 110 kg on both next week.
Ab work upped to 5 sets, seems only right.

Decided to enter the 'Shredded for Summer' comp as my diet is going to pot and I need to control my eating.
The 5 x 5 routine will continue as I like it but cardio will be done on days off as and when I can.
Weighed in this morning at 93.3 kg but it was done after breakfast with no am cardio, that will be the normal weigh in conditions from next week so I expect a bit of a loss next Sunday.
I've gained about 10 kg in the last 4 weeks but most of it not good.

Will hopefully be able to get my weight down into the low 80's this time but I want to still progress in poundages with the 5 x 5.
