Hi mate.

I started typing out what the 5 x 5 is but this explains it better than I was going to:

http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/m_8817/tm.htm

Like it so far.
It feels good to go back to basics and concentrate on strength for a bit.
Very simple to do and remember too.

I have a couple of bits in the house but I like to go to the gym for cardio.
It's a bit of a mentality thing for me where I can switch off to everything else once I'm there, also at £50 per month I like to get my monies worth

Cheers mate brilliant. I know what you mean about monies worth although I only pay £40 a year in my works gym

BBQ was fine mate, fairly quiet in the end as it turned a bit cold.
Managed to stay off the beer quite easily, can't say the same about the food though.
Diet was good up until then, still it's a bank holiday today so back on the diet tomorrow

Tonights workout

Push

Incline BBBP bar only 1 x 10, 1 x 5 60 kg, 1 x 5 80 kg, 5 x 5 95 kg
Seated OH Press 1 x 5 40 kg, 5 x 5 65 kg
Tricep Dips 5 x 5 BW (94.4 kg) + 26 kg

Very happy with that, expected to fail on at least one exercise tonight but didn't
Form suffered towards the end of OH Press and Dips, really had to grind them out
BW is fully clothed and in the evening

Inclines up to 97.5 kg next week
OH Press up to 70 kg next week
Dips up to BW + 28 kg next week.

Tonights training

Pull

Deads 1 x 10 bar only, 1 x 5 60 kg, 1 x 5 100 kg, 1 x 4 140 kg, 3 x 5 140 kg, 1 x 4 140 kg
Bent Over BB Rows 1 x 5 60 kg, 5 x 5 92.5 kg
WG Chins 5 x 5 BW + 4 kg
EZ Bar Curls 1 x 5 30 kg, 1 x 5 40 kg, 5 x 5 52.5 kg

Poor session in terms of quality.
First set of deads done with overhand grip, only lasted for 4 reps, switched to over and under for remainder, grip gave out at the end
Rows were good
Chins were better but still not good enough to move up
Managed to do 5 x 5 on curls but had to cheat on last rep of last 2 sets
All weights to stay same for next week

It's crap mate.
Not allowed chalk and don't really want to resport to straps.
I'll persevere for now but I think I could go quite a bit more if it weren't for the grip.

Thanks mate.
Put on a bit of fat since the shape up though, looking forward to dropping back into the 80's again.

Tonights workout

Legs

SLDL 1 x 10 bar only, 1 x 5 60 kg, 5 x 5 110 kg
Rope Crunches 5 x 12 35 kg
Leg Press 1 x 5 100 kg, 1 x 5 150 kg, 5 x 5 190 kg (stack)

20 mins rowing
Swim and Sauna

Couldn't get on the Smith at all even after doing the SLDL's and crunches first, had to settle for leg press in the end
Routine has definitley increased my leg strength, I was struggling at that weight on the leg press a few weeeks ago
Did a bit of cardio as it didn't take as long as usual

Hello mate, regards the grip thing - have you thought about getting some spray on stuff for your hands? Its what I used before I was able to use chalk. Not quite as good, but it helps.

Is that the liquid chalk?
Does it leave anything on the bar mate?

This is the stuff I got mate:

http://www.pullum-sports.co.uk/accessories/miscellaneous/titan-gripp-spray/prod_16.html

It is expensive, and its no where near as good as chalk itself, but it is far better than nothing at all. Leaves nothing on the bar mate.
