Thanks guys.
My own stupid fault for concentrating more on my grip than keeping my head up. Schoolboy error.
A new supplement added to the diet for a few days - Max Strength Ibuprofen
Fingers crossed will be on the mend by the weekend and probably start back with some swimming to test the water (pardon the pun).

Spent most of yesterday on my back (leave it) and surprisingly managed to get a really good nights sleep.
The back felt quite a bit better today so decided I would try a bit of swimming, managed 30 minutes.
Painkillers are working well and it only hurts in certain positions and if I sneeze.
See how I feel tomorrow and I might try a cardio session.
Next weights session will be chest and triceps, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Tonights workout

Chest and Triceps

Warm up 5 mins x-trainer

Flat BBBP 1 x 12 bar only, 1 x 8 60 kg, 5 x 8 100 kg
Incline BBBP 5 x 8 80 kg
Dips with BW (Approx 92 kg) 5 x 12

CGBP 5 x 8 80 kg
Tricep Pressdowns 5 x 8 40 kg

15 mins bike
15 mins swimming

First workout since Monday nights injury.
Took it nice and steady tonight what with the back pain and all, didn't want to aggravate it, went for volume rather than strength.
I pretty much had this workout pre-planned in my head including sets and weights but wasn't sure if I'd manage all of it, back held out really well.
Good pump in chest and triceps.

Glad you've recovered enough to train again.
Seems like you can work with/around the injury.
Probably the right thing to do as long as you take it steady.
I know my sanity starts to suffer if I can't train even for a few days.
Hope the injury heals fully soon!

Cheers BTN

I'm aware of it when I'm training but I'm just taking it a bit easier at the moment.
It's gone from the crawling around on all fours type feeling to now being a tight/backache type feeling.
A few more days and normal service will be resumed.

Just monitor how you progress back up to speed mate even if you have to drop a couple of sessions, better that than a couple of months.

Cheers Colin

It shouldn't take too long, I've got a complete rest day tomorrow then back and biceps on Monday.
I'll take it easy again and possibly drop deads, see how I feel.

Cheers Mark

The back felt reasonably painful this morning from yesterday's leg presses even though they were light.
Back workout tomorrow, I don't think there will be any deads though.

no no no deads mate for a little while, i find the back is the worst of all pains as it stops you doing so much when it goes, and takes the longest to repair. anyway best of luck mate im suitably impressed with your gains so far, mark

Cheers mate

This first 6 months has been all about experimenting and seeing what works for me and what doesn't.
At the end of the day I'm just an average guy doing weights but trying to look like Righty Ho

Tonights workout

Back and biceps

Warm up 5 mins x-trainer.

Seated Cable Rows 1 x 12 30 kg, 1 x 12 40 kg, 1 x 12 50 kg, 5 x 12 60 kg
Chins with BW (hammer grip) 3 x 6, 2 x 5
Bent Over DB Rows 5 x 12 32 kg

Seated DB Curls 5 x 8 16 kg
EZ Bar Curls 1 x 10 kg, 5 x 12 20 kg

Curls were painful on the tendons from the first rep to the last, started taking cod liver oil a week ago and it semed to be a miracle cure until tonight
Might look at cutting out bicep isolation work for a couple of weeks
No deads tonight, didn't want to risk it
5 working sets with lower weight instead of 3 seems to be working well

Chest and Triceps

Warm up 5 mins x-trainer

Flat BBBP 1 x 12 bar only, 1 x 8 60 kg, 1 x 8 100 kg, 1 x 8 110 kg, 1 x 4 120 kg(PB), 1 x 3 120 kg, 1 x 7 110 kg
Incline BBBP 1 x 1 100 kg, 2 x 3 100 kg, 1 x 7 90 kg, 1 x 8 80 kg
Dips with BW 1 x 20, 1 x 12, 1 x 11, 1 x 10

Tricep Pressdowns 3 x 8 50 kg
CGBP 1 x 6 100 kg, 2 x 5 100 kg

Tendons hurt on first set of Incline BBBP, did 1 rep and put the weight back
Felt good overall, quite happy with that

A couple of young guys (mid 20's ) came over to me in the gym and started asking how much I could bench, what was I eating etc
I'll take that as a good sign of progress, certainly never happened before.

I'll make a push for a 40+ section!!

I guess that was a tongue in the cheek suggestion, but it's got some merit as long as it didn't detract from the other sections. I guess there are quite a few topics which become higher profile the older we get. Ok, so I'm in my 60th year and desperately need all the help I can get (lol), but I don't feel it really - maybe just the odd twinge here and there which takes longer to recover from.

Apologies for the oversight 40 plus, I should have said congratulations and well done for everything you've achieved so far, it seems to working out well for you apart from the occasional lapse! Keep the log going. Must get down to my own journal over Christmas.
