RE: Alex's journal - 18 December 2007 07:36
Update...

Last week wasn’t great

Thursday morning, where I had been attempting to keep regular weekly journal updates, I was still steaming drunk from the night before

Wednesday night was my office Christmas party – managed to more or less stick to plan food-wise (starter salad, main duck breast and green beans with carrots)

Unfortunately I drank too much G&T, vodka then wine

As a result missed my pre-bed meal and EFAs

Worst was that Thursday morning I missed a weights session! First one I’ve missed since I went to see the La Tour de France in early July

To compound this Thursday’s eating was all wrong too...

Breakfast - a small takeaway curry that had been frozen; lamb rogan, boiled rice and bhindi bhaji

MPC + flax powder shake with apple

Yogurt + quark

Dinner - salmon and broccoli

Pre-bed – cottage cheese, cashews, walnuts, EFAs

Other than Wednesday/Thursday, everything was as planned (on Friday evening had a couple of coffee and Kahlua night caps)

Managed to do my last two weeks Sunday HIIT on the ergo machines at the gym rather than on my spin bike at home

Anyway start of week 6 (day 35) measurments

Chest (relaxed) 115 (cm)
Chest (expanded) 118.5
Waist (at button) 87
Hips 108
Legs 68
Calves 43
Arm 41
Weight 96.7 (kg)

Photos to follow when I can download them at work

Now off to the gym!

Right, this morning's photo

Sounds a bit pathetic... but it genuinely looks better in the mirror than on camera, I guess the (finally visible) definition on the inner chest is lost because I'm holding the camera up at face level... that's it, my best excuse

Christmas period update

Forgot to do my measurements cold when I woke up so I’ll update on Saturday morning with photo’s and measurements

Christmas eve – All to plan except for a chilli hot chocolate and a Kaluha coffee before bed

Christmas day – as Drew advised I didn’t follow a plan, eating happened as follows...

Breakfast was omelette with chorizo sausage
Christmas lunch
Pizza Express Sloppy Giuseppe
Chicken and lentil curry
Picking at various naughties and chocolates throughout
Few beers and white Russians in the evening

Boxing day – Stayed at my girlfriend’s flat so couldn’t do my SSC on my bike when I woke up, jogged Putney bridge to Hammersmith bridge and back instead (Don't know how long this took - probably over 45 mins?). Diet was ok, bit of a long break between whey and oats breakfast and the next meal because I was travelling/messing around with car but other than that (and a bit of gingerbread man and a couple of chocolates) all was fine.

Today I woke up really late and had to take my parents to Gatwick so I followed Saturday's meal plan instead of today (fitted better around weights and timings)

Drew – re Christmas day re-feed; I didn’t notice any difference in the look (larger or smoother) but I didn’t really look in the mirror much that day – may have missed it?

All in all not too bad!

Will measure and photo update on Saturday.

Week 7

Measurements this morning...

Chest (relaxed) 115.5 (cm)
Chest (expanded) 118
Waist (at button) 84
Hips 106
Legs 68
Calves 43
Arm 41.5
Weight 95.7 (kg)

Today's photo...

Just looking back over the journal; the last bulking photo was taken on 04-Nov-07 when I was weighing 106.6kg. Today's photo I'm weighing 95.7kg. Looking at the two photo's there isn't a great deal of difference despite the 11kg(!) weight difference... Hopefully at the end of this fat loss training cycle I'll look good, but it's certainly been a bit of an education!

Haven't updated this for a couple of weeks.

Was in Amsterdam last week; missed two weight sessions (back, shoulders & biceps and legs) and two cardio sessions, didn't eat too well (not loads of food but not great food), drank too much, smoked alot... but don't seem to have suffered too badly.

Measurements cold, upon waking this morning...

Chest (relaxed) 113 (cm)
Chest (expanded) 117
Waist (at button) 81.5
Hips 104.5
Legs 66
Calves 42.5
Arm 40.5
Weight 92.9 (kg)

Hi,

Just wanted to congratulate you on your progress so far. I intend to start a journal soon myself, once I have my act together.

Oh and incidentally I live just down the road from you - near Hampton Court! Which gym are you at?

Thanks mate!

Yeah starting a journal is a good thing, as long as you blank your face out you're just another anonymous torso I guess, can't get into too much trouble.

I had been logging my progress for the first half of the year in my training diary but I left it in the gym (with my dipping belt) and it got stolen rather than handed in so I decided to start a journal.

I train at the David Lloyd in Kingston above the Rotunda in the weekdays in the mornings, if I can be bothered to drive I use the Epsom David Lloyd at the weekends (bigger and the free weights are usually quieter).

How about you? There isn't a massive choice in gyms around here is there.

Cheers.
