Excuse me for barging in but my freind is breastfeeding and she reckons you get like two forms of milk...the first at the front of the nipple is more watery and like a refreshing drink whilst behind this is the thicker more wholesome stuff. This may explain the whole "firemans hose effect"

Hi S_T_E_F,
Yep, your friend is quite correct. The fore milk is very watery and quenches baby's thirst, then the hind milk is much thicker and is basically a 'smoothie' packed with lots of nutrition. The 'firemans hose effect' generally happens just after the baby is born, before the body self regulates the amount of milk required by the baby. All funnies aside - it's actually extremely painful! I don't envy the Pamela Andersens and Jordans of this world that have to live with that amount of discomfort on a daily basis

Well, the first day of 2008 has gone exactly as planned! Even sporting a new hairstyle already - well, OK I'll be honest - had a bit of a dye disaster and came out with a 'carrott top', so shaved the lot off again down to a number 1. I'd better explain that I had my head shaved last year to help raise money for a charity motorbike ride I'm doing South Africa in Sept, so it wasn't too radical

An unfuelled run on the treadmill of 45 mins. Then an upper body session using light weights.

Bicep curls
Tri kickbacks
Shoulder press
Front raise
Lat raise
Bent over rear raise

Diet:
Steamed haddock steak & glass of V8
Cottage cheese with whole earth peanut butter and mixed seeds
Rye with chicken
Cauli with cheese and mixed seeds
Few handfuls of monkey nuts
2 litres of water

Early night tonight and back on the treadmill in the morning

Cracking start to your New Year!!!!!!!!

I soooooooooooooo would love to have the balls to shave my hair off FFS!!!!!!!!!! It can look so bloody sexy. Paul reckons I should just get on with it and do it as my hair grows so quickly and thick that it won't matter within a few weeks if I don't like it lol!!!!!!!!

Nah, you don't need balls - a clipper does just fine

It's no big deal - if you don't like it wear a cap for a while - it grows back really quickly and thicker too! Team it with a pair of doc martins and trouble runs in the opposite direction Seriously tho' the only weird looks I've had is when I've been out and about with the children and you can see some people feeling sorry for me - like I've just had chemo or something!

I too would love to go to no1. My current cut was the closest I've been and if I'd had the guts to go that far I'd be back to my normal colour by now

Hi Kitty,
It grows so quickly, it's no big deal - and if you've got a pretty petite face like yours it looks great. Sooooo easy to look after as well If you feel like doing it but need a bit of a reason, offer to do it for a charity!
How did Christmas go with this killer chocolate I've been reading about that comes in paving slab sizes?

Killer chocolate and more especially when Elfin calls . Been a strange Xmas for pressies, got a coffee hamper from my sister, my Mother got me a selection of coffees and tea from around the world as part of my pressie and my other sister got me a hamper from Selfridges that had more coffee in it . Other than that I got lots of body wash/lotions so now I have plenty coffee to help me with energy levels for my workouts and plenty stuff to clean the sweat off after and then chocolate to put the calories back on so I can do it all again

Wey hey Kitty - look on the bright side, with all that wonderful REAL coffee you'll save a fortune on fat burners - not that you need them now!
Hubby bought me a new laptop, so I should be able to get some photos up

Up this morning and straight onto the treadmill for an unfuelled workout:
45 mins @5.5mph with 2% incline.

Yesterday morning I didn't put the reciever on the ipod so didn't get a workout summary, however, today I did and it proved to show a very different calorie burn. The treadmill, which is a Reebok showed a burn of 494 cals, but the ipod linked to Nike Plus showed just over 400 cals. I prefer the Reebok, though it probably isn't the most accurate!

Anyway, off up to Inverness now to take eldest daughter to see her boyfriend. I'll take myself off to the flicks and settle down to watch Will Smith flex his muscles....NICE Mmmm!!! No popcorn though - just a diet coke and a nice fat packet of suger free gum - which will probably have me farting like a trouper all the way home Does sugar free gum have that effect on anyone else?

Will do a session with the weights when I get back and post up todays diet.

Agreed, women with shaved heads look great...especially with DM's (tarten minis and fishnets to accesorise)
You do have to have the right face for it though and a sharper smaller face lends better to the look.My sister pulled the look off when she hacked off her dreadlocks but my partner couldnt as we liken her to the tweety pie bird in the cartoon (ie larger forehead)

Well, today went a bit ti*s up. Started out well enough with the cardio, but the trip to Inverness went overtime!

Haven't eaten a great deal today, but it's all been good stuff.

Am: Bowl of cottage cheese with mixed seeds and peanut butter
Lunch: 200gm pack of M&S Roast chicken
Tea: Huge bowl of sprouts - if the sugar free gum doesn't get me farting that will with mixed seeds.
Snacked on plain mixed nuts.
Didn't drink nearly enough today and have a headache because of it

Family day out at the flicks tomorrow - again! But no-ones going anywhere 'til I get the treadmill done and a weights session. Gonna use some proper weights tomorrow, as the toning with 5kgs doesn't feel like it's doing bu**er all, in reality it's probably doing very little.

Yeah S_T_E_F_F, did twin the No.1 with doc martins today - nice feminine metallic purple ones - had to give the tartan mini and fishnets a miss tho' only so much you can get away with at my age

I must stop predicting the next days workout - it seems to have the kiss of death for me. Woke up this morning still with a banging headache, convinced this is because I'm still dehydrated. Coupled with the snow we've already got and a severe weather warning for later this afternoon I've re-scheduled things. We're 30 miles north of Aberdeen and out in the middle of nowhere and when it snows heavily not even the snowploughs get out to our backroads. So, taking the family in to the flicks shortly, gonna guzzle as much water as I can and then workout when we get home...if we get home...might have a good workout pushing the car home

Even in these warmers climes down south its still bitter...just got back from walking me muts and i dunno who enjoyed it the least me or them.
Lurv those mettalic purple doccy's, my better half has the mettalic purple destroy boots at knee length...quite some boot beleive me.
The next ones on my wishlist are the zebra fur ones...absolute nuts but pricey too.

Don't talk to me about walking the mutts - just spent two hours down in the kennel with Sheeba - our oldest German Shep, she kept me company when I was jobbing it - inbetween being a millionaire! - in the Derbyshire hills, drystone-walling. She's an old girl now, 16yrs. She's had some sort of funny do and can't stand up, so we're taking it in turns to be around her in her kennel - just sitting craddling her in the straw. Gotta go now.

Just gotta post a quick hi out here. If you were the guy standing infront of me in the enormous queue for the pics in 'Vue' Inverness yesterday, wey hey on your physique mate. You were in a bright green t-shirt and had the missus and two kids with you.
This was a seriously big guy - as wide as I'm tall. If anyone recognises this guy, tell him well done from me.

Really upsetting day today. Had our eldest dog put to sleep at 11.45am. She'd been with us through thick and thin and it's so sad. Hardly had any sleep last night so not feeling 100% today.

Looked after diet well so far today. I'm carb cycling - 3 days low/mod then high carb every fourth day, which will hopefully get the flab moving a little quicker. Today's the high day - yum!

No treadmill today, just a long walk out in the snow and will hit the gym when hubby gets back from shopping.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog NDB. They're with you for so long that it's like losing one of the family when you have to let them go. If it's the one you were talking about previously she was a good old age though.
