UKBFF North East Champs 2008 date set - 19 December 2007 11:35
The UKBFF north East Champs will be on October 5 at Leeds town hall. It is the same venue that hosted the show in 2007 and I hope many of you come along.

The big difference this year is that the show will be on a Sunday rather than a Saturday, which means free parking at the venue.

It will be the final UKBFF qualifier before the British Championships two weeks later on Oct 19.

We will be doing an email bulletin with updates next year, if you would like adding to the list drop me an email at jplummer@weideruk.com

thanks, John Plummer

Lol, John - how come you can get the dates up but the UKBFF official website is still listing the previous season's?

To anyone that hasn't been before - this is a great venue with easy access and parking and was well run this year - for both the competitors and the audience.

As it's the last qualifier of 2008, it's sure to have a massive line-up of high quality.

Stick it in your diaries.

Cheers Keith! I'm in Peterborough next week so I'll drop by and give you the fiver for the plug!
Seriously, we did put a lot of effort into it last year and I hope we put on a great day for competitors and fans in 2008.

Bit too far north for the Midlands and the South competitors to attend I would have though. Oh and now it's the last quailifer.

Mansfield was a happy medium.

Need to see the dates for the Leamington and Midlands show.

You at the wedding this weekend John?

Too far north! Leeds must be all of an hour from the Midlands on the M1. We had competitors from London, Wales and the South-West in 2007.

I am indeed planning to attend the lovely Liz's wedding sequel tomorrow, shall you be there Pete?

Bit more than an hour depending what part of the Midlands your from.

Guess with Leicester, Leamington and the Midlands to use as second chance qualifers I'm ok. lol

Yes I'll be there with Vicky and Isla. See you there.

Eddie - many thanks for your support. Believe me, there are few better venues to compete in than Leeds Town Hall. Good luck in your prep.

I'm doing Leam or Birmingham in 2008 mate.

Leeds is a bit late in the year for me personally thanks to a few personal things I have to do.

I'll be there to watch it though.

I know, I was there last year, supporting my best mate Steve Taylor, and his g/f Rach ravencroft (they did the joint show)
looks a great venue... looking forward to being ON stage this time not looking UP at the stage!

Good luck in your comps this year Righty and don't be so hard on yourself! You looked good at Leeds but you sounded almost suicidal at not quite getting it 100% on the day.

This event..is it pay-able on the door or generally a sell out?

Just cheesed at myself for ignoring good advice mate.
See you soon John - loving the UK scene write-ups in Flex. Keep 'em up.

It was payable on the doorable last year mate but was VERY popular. Brilliant atmosphere and venue.
Probably best to get tickets beforehand unless you plan on turning up for the pre-judging when it's quieter - get your evening ticket then also, maybe?

Thanks for the comments, Righty. I looked around for you at the Mr Peterborough show but didn't see you.

Tickets are on sale now and can be ordered by calling 01423 504516 (office hours) and asking to speak to Geoff or Linda Evans

Link to show poster
http://www.flex-europe.com/34.html

We also produce a few newsletters in the run-up to the show. We've sent one so far and another will follow soon, email me at jplummer@weideruk.com to receive these (we won't spam you!).

Leeds Town Hall is a big old Victorian building that holds 1,400 people but because we may have to accommodate up to 8 or 9 sponsors' stalls this year we may have to remove quite a few seats so although tickets should be available on the day you never know. It sold well last year and it is the last qualifier.

Guest stars confirmed so far are Lee Powell and Thomas Scheu (3x World Champion who guest posed at the Mr Olympia as a junior in the 1980s and is known as one of the world's most entertaining posers). We're hoping to confirm another one or 2.

Overall men's champ gets feature in FLEX and women's bodyfitness winner gets a photoshoot for Muscle&Fitness, £5k worth of prizes, Kerry Kayes on the mic.

Was having a chat with my mate Dave Tittterton yesterday, he's looking pretty awesome at 313lbs (22st 5lb) with 12 weeks til the UKBFF North-East.
My guess is everyone else will be competing for 2nd place at that show, and he could easily be a favourite for top 3 in the Heavies at Nottingham 2 weeks later!!

Looks like he's made some great improvements in the last 12 months...I wonder if the UKBFF judges will agree???

Neil - It's good to hear Dave's prep is going well. Him and his family have been great supporters of the show and he is certainly making it his own, having won the overall title last year and the heavyweight title the year before (when there was no overall winner).

No doubt he will set the bar very high this year. A lot of people said after last year's British finals that Dave looked like he had the kind of frame to carry even more muscle. It will be interesting to see how he looks.
