If so you'd have done very well. But, as you'll know, the world is full of guys that MIGHT have won and were super strong but pulled out. I'd hazard a guess, based on who we know and how they'd do, that 130-kilos or so would have had you in the top 3 for sure.

Times? As long as it takes for 20 odd people to get through each event and then a few minutes rest. Basically 1 hour per event. As for who to beat etc - dunno. We can hazard a guess based on the typical novice but then some freak who is a 'novice' but actually open class strength will win. Our boy, Harry Shahlaei, will do very well (his bro is through to this years BSM). We've another group (Kai, Carl, Anthony, Steve and Tony - I coach them) who will be middle of the pack or better. I'd like to think they will all do 100-kilos clean and press on the day with Steve and Tony being closer to 115-kilos or better. Most of them are carrying injuries which should clear up near the time. Harry will do more (I think over 130 on the day - not bad for an 18 year old).

thats strong for 18! ive never done an axle press yet, i havent done any events besides log and stones. is the technique allowed when you can throw up onto your belt then clean from there? ive seen it done on youtube. what i meant by times is whats the quickest times any of the guys have done the events in for example the frame walk fastest time? im sure once i get chance to practice them before comp ill be decent, but wanted to know times to beat

Hi carl, my best axle is 120kg for 1 clean and 3 presses, i think mobster has been a bit ambitious with his goals for me lol, but i want to TRY and hit a 130kg in training before the comp so we'll see how it goes. hope your trainings going well.

I've never tried, so i couldn't really say. i usually always do the axle as it seems to be in more strongman events.

That style is called 'continental' and is allowed. As for knowing the times etc... other than hinting at one lift I'm saying bugger all else. Just go as fast as you can.

I'm considering doing my first ever contest this summer, and this is close enough to do. I'm a bit worried about the standard of competitors, I don't want to be miles off the pace What sort of gym lifts would put me in the right ballpark?

Also, done very little event work (can start doing more), is this going to hold me back massively?
