Today

Chest, triceps and shoulders

Bench press 2 x 6 and 1 x 5 on 40kg moved up the weight and couldn't quite manage the reps hopefully next week will get 3 x 6 then 3 x 8 week after

Dips 3 x 8

Overhead shoulder press 3 x 8

Incline fly 3 x 8

Cable flys (bent over for chest) 3 x 8 - just thought id try this

didn't do skull crushers as thought it would be overkill for triceps with Over head shoulder press added to this day.

Our benchpress's are basically the same, just don't do what I did on the last rep

So I won't be trying that again...

Ouch mate, definately get a spotter it helps alot.

Just weighed myself, 10.9 stone. Not sure if this is good cos some of that could be fat? not that im bothered as long as im not going down in weight

Today

Legs!

Sqauts 1 x 8 50kg 2 x 8 60kg well pleased with moving up my weight on squats

leg extension 3 x 8

calf raises 3 x 10 (last set to failure)

leg curl (machine not sure what its actually called ) 3 x 8

still got my diet nailed and am happy with results so far can't wait to hit 11 stone!

Just finished my dinner which was juicy salmon, basmati rice and mixed veggies, First time i had tried salmon and found it rather nice, nice and tender!

Havn't really got much else to update, Well im moving out of my parents house soon we went down to the estate agents today and confirmed our ID's and details for our new house (moving in with 2 friends) so hopefully the house should be ready by next month if not earlier, Also good that my friends step dad is the estate agents sorting it out so we dont have to pay a deposit for the house so all is good!

Wondering when i will hit a plateu on my beginner gains because so far i seem to be gaining 1lb - 1.5lb's of muscle a week, Im hoping these gains will continue at least till i am 11 stone

Tried out some wholemeal tortila wraps earlier, made a wonderful mess trying to guesstimate how much you put in them and found they break really easy when rolling up, If anyones trying this microwave them for about 20 seconds first they soften up and dont break! lol

still eating fine sticking to the diet well.

Friends are going out on saturday night into the town im not suppose to be drinking but i might go only thing is i weigh myself sunday morning and dont wana screw up all the progress i made so far

i wouldnt worry about having a drink every now and then mate, as long as you keep to your diet through the week you will still make gains.

maybe try and take a protein bar or something in your pocket and stuff it in when you get a chance.

also, my advise is to not get sooo drunk that you cant eat all day sunday because of a ****ty hangover- i find hangovers are sometimes probably more detrimental to my gains than going out for a drink.

can you not go out and not drink? i know some ppl hate it and some get to love it, its ust one of those personal things i think....might be worth a go anyway.

hope the eatings still going well mate, youll be makingnoticable progress in no time if you carry on how you are!

Thanks alot for all the kind words mate.

The only reason im not drinking is because it was kind of a new years resolution to not drink for 3 months (3rd of march) so really wanted to stick to it and then after that keep it to once a month or so on a light one.

Yeh the hangover would be the worst to me as i know i wont be able to get up and eat what i need to if ive been out drinking all night ill let you know what happens though

Today

Back biceps and abs

Deadlifts 3 x 8 50kg

Lat pull down 3 x 8

Barbell bicep curl 1 x 8 2 x 6

Trap lifts 3 x 8 - Wont be doing this next week as i have a pain just by my lats now, dont think they agree with me might try shrugs

situps 3 x 8

lying leg raises 3 x 8

Overall a good workout

Moved up on my deadlifts to 50kg (not including bar) so happy with that. Only downside is the pain i got from trap lifts but oh well i wont be doing them again next week.

hopefully 10.10 stone this weekend, Starting to notice im "filling out" a bit now. Had my top off earlier and my mum said "Oh god! look at your muscles!" lol

Heya just read thru your journal well the start of it.
Looks like ive got the same sorta of goal as you, im currently 10 stone 6 and have gone from 9 stone 12 to where i am at the moment been bulkin since bout Octoberish.
IM hopefully going to try and bulk to about 12 stone ish by the end of the year.
I got a 3 day routine similar to that except im doing biceps on chest day and triceps on back day.
Im gonna start a journal next monthish when i join my new gym, will interesting to see how you get on.
Where bouts you from then?
Goood luck ill pop by here and there to see how ur goin on

I used to do the Push, Pull Legs routine where i did Chest/triceps/shoulders on just one day!
I found that too much to be honest.
And also when doing back/biceps i find that my biceps are knackered after doing heavy deadlifts and dumbell row. I know somone has got it in there signature on here " Training Biceps on Back day is like Running a Marathon then another 100 Yards sprint afterwards" dont quote me on that tho.
For me personally i prefer hitting biceps nice and fresh and the same with triceps, since i have changed it my weights for biceps and triceps have gone up quite a bit.
Its worth experimenting, but the routine you have at the moment is fine if you want to stick with that has all the main compounds.
Good diet which you have there is the key to to this, 50% diet/30% training/20% rest.

Yeah i will stick to my current training at the moment untill i stop growing or am not comfortable with it anymore then i will go from there, Some good points on feeling fully rested for your exercises

Got DOMS in my chest today feels good

Yeah i went out for a drink in the end, kept myself under control and only had a few. Actually ended up having a better time because i knew what i was doing and was just merry
