20 meter shuttle run / bleep test

The test involves running between two points that are 20 meters apart. The interval between each successive beep reduces, forcing the athlete to increase speed over the course of the test, until it is impossible to keep in sync with the recording.
When i do the test i allow myself 1 missed bleep - but when a total of 2 beeps are missed its time to stop

you can read a better description and download the Mp3 of the bleep test here

Neb -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:18:44)

great one boar mate

Sticky this i reckon

I have a best of 16 mins for 3 miles iirc but now i'd be looking to get under 20

I'll hopefully add my times in the next few weeks

PAGAN -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:26:06)

What about a rowing based one ?

5000m ?
2000m?

or a HIIT type interval one like 5x500m with 1 min rest between intervals ?

Excellent idea Boar ! [:)]

Neb -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:29:42)

400m would be easier don't you reckon, just one lap of a track like

PAGAN -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:31:39)

Ahhh, fcuk, I'll get me coat

Neb -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:43:16)

boar, where do you do your bleep test?

I'm sitting here wondering where I can go and not look a c0ck LOL

boar -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:44:36)

a concept 2 rower one is an ace idea pagan , ive not been on one for a while - how long is 2000 gonna take an average boar ?

a distance thats a good couple of minutes minumum of rowing pain !

boar -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:50:54)

if you look around there are loads of quite spots - avenue type areas on parks are good - no cars and just a few people about , i went to a mates with a long driveway , also the generic type tennis court / basketball court that are dotted around

just wear a blindfold so you cant see people lauging at you[:D]

Neb -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:51:24)

Maybe a shorter run too, 100m sprint or something

lol, tennis court at night i reckon

Integra -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 19:59:50)

Will do the 3 mile run tomorrow.

Burpees is difficult to test because some put more into their jumps than others.

Neb -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 20:02:32)

nice one mate, how fast do you reckon you'll get?

I would be disappointed if I didnt get sub-18mins.

boar -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 20:09:13)

yea, i know about the burpee thing ,so much variation , but its just a bit o fun , the 2000m rower is probably gonna take 8-10 mins , mabie a 500m time too , a track sprint may be good ,depending on how many of us has access to a track

Integra -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 20:19:17)

A magic 50 would also be good as would a sandbag challenge.

Or maybe a monthly workout challenge where members send in their workout ideas and one of them is chosen each month.

boar -> RE: Whats your best ................... (Jan. 20 2008 20:23:10)

yea, the monthly thing could work whats the magic 50 ? and a sandbag one is deffo a good option - clean n pressing or whatother stuff ? i have a 100lb sandbag and its ****ing awkward to lift ! great piece of kit
