Think I'll jump in here as well. (5 plates only though, lol) Aiming to hit 220k in a month's time. I pulled 210k of a platform on Monday which equals my current PB. So hopefully i'll be right on track. I'm using this program here. Just completed week 4. I ran it for two consecutive cycles last year and it took my dead from 185k to 210k. I would deffo recommend it for an intermediate level deadlifter. What's everyone elses plan of attack? There seems to be about a million and one ways to train the lift so I am curious as to see what everyone else is doing.

Haven't deadlifted for a long time. Last night I did 6 plates for 8 reps with relative ease. Anybody up for 7 or 8?

well i can pick up a 100kg barbell off the deck and row it a good few times. but i guess thats different to pulling off the deck and driving with your back and legs. what sort of hypertrophy do you experience from DL's?

ORIGINAL: swift Ive never deadlifted, am i missing out? what sort of weight can you expect to deadlift for the first time? depends on your back strength and leg strength, i deadlifted 140x3 first time i tried, i was around 100kg and had played rugby for years and years, and seemed to pick it up quite easily but my training partner struggled with a 60kg deadlift for 3 sets of 10 when he started, now he does 300kg, so theres hope for us all lol

what sort of hypertrophy do you experience from DL's? i couldn't give you a honest answer mate as i honestly do not know I never measured results month by month as i just went by how i looked, i do know that for my size i can lift more than people who are substantially bigger than me in the muscle department For instance my bench absolutely 100% sucks at a lousy 65kg for reps, my deadlift is 150kg for reps, squat is around 90kg for 20 reps. I can pull more than i can push with ease, perhaps my back is my strongest bodypart who knows. I do know that with a heavy deadlift if you mess with your form its the easiest way of Ć’ucking yourself up

Compounds = mass, it's that simple. If a novice just did a routine based around squats, deadlifts and bench as well as some oly lifts done properly and then throw in a few accessory exercises they would out grow everyone IMO. I attribute all of my muscle gains to doing compounds since the start, You can only hit so hard with iso exercises.
