Compounds = mass, it's that simple. If a novice just did a routine based around squats, deadlifts and bench as well as some oly lifts done properly and then throw in a few accessory exercises they would out grow everyone IMO. I attribute all of my muscle gains to doing compounds since the start, You can only hit so hard with iso exercises.

and i totally agree but is deadlift essential where growth is concerned is my thinking.

rowing and pulldowns is great for back growth IME im not so sure deadlift is

Try them buddy, i think they do sod all for my back size to be fair.

i reckon ill do them every other week or summit. i dont like the idea of doing deadlift on same day as rows and pulldowns.

ive found that now i know how to properly train a bodypart after about 2 exercises im not good for much else

Not yet. I'm making the switch to sumo right now, so I expect my numbers will be dramatically lower at first, then jump (atleast I hope they jump )

I'm at 242.5k. Stuck there tho as my back went whilst repping with 180k a week or two back. Leaving them off for at least a couple of months to allow the back to recover

I've only just started deadlifting again during the past month. And recently have suffered with a chest infection so I think I'll need another week or two to get up to 300kg for a 1RM. My training has been off these last couple of weeks. My squatting is up and down. Tonight I did 180kg for 12 reps quite comfortably. However, when I moved up to 220kg I could only manage 6 reps. Before my chest infection I was up to 10-12 reps. This is not good. Perhaps I should've stuck at 180kg or maybe shifted to 200kg. Oh well

Count me in for the race to 5 plates. Am currently maxing at 190kg though so will expect to reach the 220kg towards the back end of this year. No belts/Strap I presume...?

Big Scotish B -Not training specifically for Powerlifting now, but Strongman..but there is a max axle deadlift looming at next contest.
Does the lift need to be a conventional lift without straps ? 7 plates would be 675 right ? that seems a ways off really, considering it took 18-20 months to go from 500-600

Likewise, pulled 220k for a PR on Monday.

I am now finally in the race for 6 plates.
